MyLittleBrother
i dont like him just being gifted the ability to move again by some random being in his dream or soul or whatever. feels like a railroad for the character niking it so that no matter what he chooses or does in the future his direction is set in stone by some mysterious past he cant remember due to the curses which will naturally lift as he gets stronger.
There is no backing for Yuan to feel urgency other than the new situation around Meixu. Even if the curses were super mild, the external conditions for Yuan to date do not have any motivating factors to break them: 1) He has no clue who he is or where he is from. 2) He was used as a tool for many years and wasn’t taught anything except book knowledge and music. 3) He has been paralyzed, blind and abandoned by his “parents” for years with no reason to change because he has no family or friends except Yu Rou and Meixu (and Meifeng) who visit him regularly. 4) Earth has very little spirit energy and no knowledge of cultivation or related topics. Curses are not a “real” thing since science is the accepted belief and curses don’t fit with science. 5) Earth’s science knowledge and capabilities doesn’t have a fix for him and doesn’t even know what is wrong (see 4). But this isn’t a problem because there are still a lot of medical areas that are unknown and not understood so this is not a reason for concern. 6) Cultivation Online is a “game” and isn’t the first deep dive game so there isn’t any reason to suspect it is anything other than a game at this point. If it was the first deep dive (like SAO) there might be a reasonable number of people that question things. 7) The back story and world for Cultivation Online isn’t abnormal for Earth as there are many cultivation stories out there so people easily accept it. 8) The implementation is too good since “NPC” characters don’t behave oddly when someone comes and goes and players don’t have to make excuses. About what happens. 9) It has only been a few months since the game came out and even if Yuan knew from the beginning that he needed to work at getting better, I highly doubt he would have made it much further because there is no knowledge of things and even being ruthless wouldn’t have helped him much if at all. Maybe he would have ascended one level but getting access to the many resources like monster cores wouldn’t have been easy because he had no money going in.
I really am glad to see he is finally is up and about and moving around now. I am hoping that Yuan takes the warnings of the “dream” guy is trying to tell him and makes good use of them. He keeps calling him weak, and Yuan has been more interested in playing around and sight seeing than he has getting stronger. So hopefully he will start taking cultivation more seriously, because he needs to protect his loved ones and so he can accomplish whatever unspoken goal the guy in his dream was hinting at.
