Hmm I think your all forgetting that the legion left the above world to pretty much fend for themselves since and their not even human anymore. Then the human are the invaders technically since the ants are from the dungeon and humans arent.

I really want to draw some comparison between the ants now and like minded people in history. The ants don't have the fragility of a human mind and I might not be able to give into greed,lust and many other things. They do everything for the colony. The thing is how far are they willing to go for the colony. The sad thing is. From what I have read they hardly think of anything outside of the colony with empathy or sympathy. Because they're monsters. However, people have lives matter how bad it's gets they have lives. Honestly with the comments cheering on genocide of another because they like another. Its interesting. I imagine the Colony has to try their best to take this city with as little casualties on the defenders side as possible. At least doing that will serve as evidence to the greater community of the Dungeon that the Colony itself is not incapable of rational merciful thoughts despite them being attacked by the defenders. Though to be fair, they did attack the city so some form of retaliation is understandable.
