I have a sneaking suspicion that "knife" is an incorrect translation. They probably mean Saber, and Knife Power is just Saber Intent/Force. (A long knife is basically a Saber/Machete) Also, who knew MC would be this ruthless? I get killing the father and son, but even the wife? This is how I know I couldn't survive in a cultivation novel.
This novel has made me hate the word "survive" so much. The author has some sort of strange addiction to just writing suspense scenes for no reason. This is the beginning of the novel! I gave this novel a pass for the first four chapters as I thought the author was just trying to hook the readers in. But now I'm wondering if that's all this novel is. One long train of incidents meant to make you feel suspense. The thing is that suspense works best when you care for the character. The author has done nothing so far for me to even like these characters. I'm just confused and annoyed.
Why is this relationship so forced? Why can't that little kid wait like everyone else and join the Military? Join his village recon team and gain valuable experience for a few years then join the military after. And MC is enabling him like he isn't supposed to be a low-profile special forces soldier who has to leave in week.
I thought MC was an 80 year old man? Not to mention he ran a large business. Why is he talking like a teenager? He has the emotional regulation of a middle schooler. I like the novel, that's why I'm still reading and criticizing so much. Just tired of authors creating characters with profound backgrounds, just to have them act like children.
Oh no, I hope this isn't an MC made dumb for plot points. He's in a military bunker yet doesn't take the time to read up on everything that happened, or to use surveillance tools on the base to see if the outside is safe. He just wakes up and opens the big door that has kept him safe this whole time.
This is the type of amateur cringe nationalism we expect from Chinese/Korean novels. Oh, look at us Canadians, we are so nice and well behaved, unlike this annoying American character I created. It's perfectly fine to have an annoying character be American, but it becomes cringe when you make them they state it as a part of their rant.
Don't believe the fake reviews! This is a Mushoku Tensei clone. He is a pervert just like Rudeus. Wouldn't be surprised if MC had CP on his computer too. Parents are carbon copies of Rudeus parents. Gets a mentor around the same age. Just switches from a magic instructor to a sword instructor. Follows the plot points exactly. Just didn't feel like continuing to read after that carbon copy introduction. Not to mention, MC leaves his real life mother to escape to this fantasy world.
You're completely right. Just that author was so busy trying to create an "homage" to MTJR that he forgot to improve it. Since MTJR had Rudeus grow up alone, author did the same for the MC. Even though MC should have grown up in a village and constantly been around people.
Oh no, not a conscious adult in a kids body. I always hated this. Now we have to live through a perverted adult starting at his mom, then live through the stage where he flirts with little girls as well. SMH. Why not have him gain memories after becoming a teenager or something?!
The author refuses to tell a story coherently! He is allergic to transitions. If the chapter ended on a cliffhanger previously, author would just change POV to a new character whose name and appearance you don't know. After reading for a paragraph to get your bearings, there's another abrupt transition back to the cliffhanger. But hours after the interesting event occurred. Just leaving you feeling empty. It seems that unofficially, MC's real skill is plot-armor. By chapter 30 MC's life if saved 3-4 times, not by his own cunning or skills, but random people showing up. Since author is somehow in a rush to move on to the next scene, even less attention is paid to the world building. So you barely feel like you know the world. All that being said, the story is interesting enough to give it a chance. My will was just too weak to do so.
