what yuck? It is an opportunity to gain knowledge and to be strong with a backer without fearing anything so there is nothing wrong with this development. I have a theory that 5th is a battle of aura or zone like MC has a zone of gravity and Tiny zone thunder clouds and the previous demon that he defeated has the zone of lava and the previous slug has the zone of decay. It's like the stronger zone you had the more you have chances to move to 6 and lower floors.
They did a great job eliminating the goop before, but actually going into the fifth is going to be a completely different story. They won't be cleaning puddles, or even pools of the stuff.
