2. Since, he will be in close proximity with the Targaryens through Otto. He likely won’t desire to be involved in all the egomaniacal drama of the Blacks and Greens. But at same time, having the favor and patronage of royalty and high nobility could grant him whatever he needs to implement and accelerate his innovative plans faster.
So, I have finally figured out all military tactics that King Aegon VI (or VIl; if the boy who both Jon Connington and the Golden Company is supporting is truly the son of Rhaegar and Elia but I really doubt it so far) effectively utilized in his unconventional battle strategy (by this medieval society's obviously stagnant standards) against both the Tullys and the Knights of the Vale. Are a powerful mixture of these outlined in the picture below, blended with Byzantine Roman style weaponry and equipment that’s if you recall the shields and crossbows?
Yeah, Ned has really proven himself to be such a hypocrite. I already know he didn’t desire to kill his wife’s family but this act of neutrality won’t ever put him in Jon’s good books. The MC won’t kill him (probably) because the SI regards his Stark cousins (highly likely Rickon, Bran and Arya at this point in time); as his dear siblings still. All I’m wondering is how did House Stark’s vassals react to the really earthshaking revelation of Aegon’s true identity and do they want fight for Lyanna’s son? After all, he will be first king with northern blood to rule the Seven Kingdoms and will probably ensure the North’s welfare and will not ignore their dire needs unlike the MC’s predecessors in the past.
Excellent chapter. Make me hungry for more. I somewhat know what all these battle tactics that King Aegon blended together as a strategy but I don’t recall any of their names. Except for the final one. Which I believe is called a tactical withdrawal or feigned retreat. And also the Parthian shot.
So, Galladon did not have to stain his hands or reputation with “kinslaying.” I hope he and Aemon become friends in next chapter or so. I’m sure that the Targs would want the SI as an ally not an enemy despite what Jocelyn says. Have the MC and her ever met before she married Aemon or is she’s biased against him because of her House? It isn’t a surprise that he’s become more popular and influential than her family. Since he made a lot of the Stormlords wealthier despite how martial they are and how they dismiss the notion of 🪙 counting coppers. But at the same 🗡️ swords doesn’t feed bellies nor keeps a roof over your head.
“Let your plans be dark ☁️ and 🏰 🛡 impenetrable as night 🌙 , and when you move, fall like a thunderbolt ⚡️.” - Sun Tzu, The Art of War.♟️⚔️ “It is the business of a general to be🥷 quiet and thus ensure secrecy; upright and just, and thus maintain order ⚖️ .” — Sun Tzu, The Art of War.♟️⚔️ “He🥷carries out his own secret 🤫♟️ designs, keeping his antagonists 🐍 in awe. Thus he is able to capture🎣their cities and overthrow their kingdoms” - Sun Tzu, The Art of War.♟️⚔️ Robb doesn’t tell most of the lords the reason behind his actions or anything about his plans because there’s spies everywhere. They’re at war. Honor and fairness is only reserved for those who are loyal; not for your enemies. Robb’s following the words of his House. He’s a Stark not an Arryn like his father Ned who had paid the ultimate price for his stupid code of honor and mercy. While all his enemies in the South had none. In war, intelligence is critical. This also means your enemy will use all means, fair and foul, to learn of your plans. So, in other words any secret shared is no longer a secret. And while some might be trusted even the sharing of a secret may be overheard. The trusted person may also be captured and tortured for their knowledge. They probably could be even blackmailed or bribed. So, the more critical the knowledge, the fewer should know. It is hence often better to keep major plans to oneself. Or maybe share a few of them with people whom you know won’t blab to others; or have big mouths like Greatjon Umber. Robb is right now doing all he can to win 🏆 the war as quickly as possible and ♟️ ⚔️ take his enemies by both speed🏎️ and surprise. Before he crushes them with impunity. Turning the Mother of🐉 Dragons into an ally is essential; since the Tyrells desire the Iron Throne. And Stannis is slowly becoming influenced by Melisandre who’s one crazy fanatic that’d willingly light a religious crusade against other religions in the kingdom.
I hope that Rhaenyra doesn’t seek out and later tries to seduce Clement into being the biological donor of her kids. Because that may happen when she’s finally married Laenor in this story. He wouldn’t consider forsaking his any of marriage vows to his waifu who is the rider of the largest living dragon in the realm unless Laena permits him to do it in the highly likely event that her gay bro and Rhaenyra asks. That is only if Rhaenyra will be marrying Laenor(just as she did in canon) in this fic.
“Your first task as a strategist ♟️ is to widen your concept of the enemy 🐍 , to include in that group those who are working against you, thwarting♟️you, even in subtle ways.” - Robert Greene, The 33 Strategies of War. ⚔️ Yeah, I think that all the stillbirths that Aemma had this whole time are really a result of poison. I sincerely hope the SI subtly finds proof of the conspiracy and flawlessly executes everyone that has been scheming to destabilize and destroy the House of the Dragon. 🐉
Okay, now I’m so convinced the Maester conspiracy is real. Because they have so far done nothing really useful to help the king as his condition worsens. Can the SI heal him, I wonder? I think that he chose not to because his foes would’ve already had the Faith demonize him and grant all his opponents in the Vale a pretext to try to occupy his lands with their armies and kill him directly. If this is the case, he has to have a strategem in dealing with them all when and after the war finally occurs.
