37 -Chapitre 33-

-1 hour later-

I divided our forces into 3, with the few days of preparation the army of the Lord of the Crownlands had managed to integrate into our forces I placed the entire royal army in the center with my 10,000 shadow guards all on horseback and I left the flanks of my army to Tywin and to Jaime.

Each of them had 19,000 soldiers to stop 20,000 soldiers from the Riverlands, I intentionally gave a similar number of soldiers to these two because I knew that even if the central army of the Coalition was huge I had enough personal advantages to succeed in winning or at least not to lose.

Coalition Army Arryn Tully: 20,000 70,000 20,000

Aegon /Lannister Army: 19,000 40,000 19,000

Everything was going rather well because even after repeated charges from the left army led by Edmure Tully, Jaime's army had not shown the slightest sign of choking and it responded as we had planned mowing down a maximum of riders with long lances.

Then open them up to let the crossbowmen of the Lannister army gradually exhaust their riders, initially I thought this tactic would succeed in amputating a tenth of the Tully cavalry or much less but no these fools had charged straight towards the 6 meter lances that I had specially built for the men of the Lords of the Crownlands.

A way to "honorably" reduce their numbers without ever coming into conflict with them, in this way I drastically reduce the risks of a possible rebellion in my own garden in case of a rebellion of a kingdom in the future.

"Edmure Tully is really the biggest fool I've ever seen" I said, laughing slightly.

"Honestly I don't think it's stupidity"

"Charging into an army clearly prepared against cavalry isn't stupidity?"

"No, they simply aren't used to fighting against a formation of this level, generally cavalry almost always crushes an infantry unit, you might not realize your talent because for you all this is logical, but using lances of such size in this way plus such a wall of shields and then the wave of crossbowmen is a three-step tactic almost deadly for all cavalries of the world"

I didn't invent any of this it comes from medieval formations of various civilizations that I simply fitted together

I rolled my eyes under the praises of Samwell and I said: "I didn't invent anything except for the 6 meter lances, I simply adapted and merged several strategies, without the level of Tywin Lannister's armies this kind of method would be impossible to achieve"

"This level of ingenuity is very rare, but Edmure Tully's biggest mistake is panic, he launched 12 charges for nearly an hour the more he charges the more it makes him nervous, as a result he makes mistakes" said Samwell in a remarkably calm tone.

I smiled at my friend and then I said: "Sound the war horn"

-POV Jaime Lannister-

WAR HORN SOUND

I smiled and then I yelled at my men to start the second formation, I was in front during practically all the charges, protected by a square of men behind the front lines with Lord Renfred of House Rykker one of the first houses of the Crownlands to come out for King Aegon.

Seeing me leave he took over the command of the front line and I rallied the cavalry of 4,000 soldiers composed half of Lannister riders and half of all kinds of minor houses from the Crownlands.

I didn't even need to stop because as soon as they saw me they started trotting I pushed my horse to slow down to synchronize and then we increased our speed little by little while dangerously approaching the exposed side of the enemy cavalry.

-POV Edmure Tully-

After a dozen charges I still couldn't break through this formation but I felt that the enemy soldiers were quickly tiring and that more and more died each time so with the remaining 2000 riders I launched a final charge.

But what I hadn't planned was that the enemy threw all its forces into the battle at once, thousands of riders emerged on our left and while once again our army was stopped by the enemy formation we found ourselves caught between two fires.

The Lannisters broke through our formation without difficulty massacring what I had left of riders at an extremely fast pace so without hesitation I sounded the retreat.

-POV Renfred Rykker-

"Lord Rykker we can have them all at once if we lock them up and encircle them if we continue to stay here we will win no glory" said Rolland Buckwell the very young lord of 19 years eager for blood and glory.

I shook my head and I said: "We do not move let them flee"

"But…"

"There are no buts the strategy was invented by His Majesty King Aegon" I said in an authoritative tone.

My answer left him speechless and he lowered his head sign of his submission.

"Pass the order to kill a maximum of enemy riders, but not to hinder our own riders, and sound the horn of the charge we are going to attack the enemy infantry" I said to Rolland Buckwell who nodded his head his spirit of combat returning to the highest.

-Central Coalition Tully Army-

-POV Hoster Tully-

From a distance I saw the cavalry of the Kingslayer pursue my son and I held back from charging straight at them, I looked at Lord Yohn Royce who nodded his head and I caught my breath seeing Lyn Corbray head to the left with 5,000 knights.

The cavalry unit composed only of knights in heavy armor quickly reached the level of Edmure but just before it entered the dangerous zone of the Kingslayer the latter quickly turned tail and fled at a gallop, I don't know if it was because this hasty retreat was too clean and orderly but I had a bad feeling and it intensified when I saw Edmure rally Lyn Corbray's forces and try to catch up to the Kingslayer who fled towards…

SHIT

-POV MC-

"Release" I yelled at the 5000 archers and crossbowmen that I had gathered as soon as Jaime's cavalry had abruptly changed direction.

All the riders hadn't finished turning but I trusted my sense of Timing not to have been mistaken and less than a few seconds later, the first wave of arrows fell like divine punishment on the enemy cavalry.

Without me speaking Ghost immediately understood that it was time for us to enter the game and we charged forward extremely quickly with 5,000 riders, we did not wait for our pursuers and we quickly distanced them.

I placed a telekinetic shield around me and Ghost so as not to get skewered by the arrows that the long-distance unit now under the control of Samwell did not stop launching and I grabbed my two maces that replaced my usual swords and once behind the enemy lines I smashed with my two maces with skills on the helmets and the skulls of the knights of the Vale.

-POV Edmure Tully -

I looked around me confused by all this noise and feeling the weight of my armor and the pain I was feeling in my leg and my right shoulder I instantly remembered where I was.

Warrior my stallion although wounded by 4 arrows on the flank had risen and had not abandoned me, I broke the two arrows and then I forced myself to get back on my feet, I was going to fall but I felt someone catch me and hoist me on my saddle.

"Flee you must live otherwise the Tully lineage will be extinguished" said Ser Desmond before being mowed down by King Aegon mounted on his Direwolf.

I tried to escape him but he smashed the head of my horse which fell stiff dead with half of the skull now replaced by a mix of blood and bits of brain.

I could see the mocking smile he wore as he looked at me there without a helmet while his own men showered us with arrows.

I tried to get up but I felt something come into contact with me that sent me a second time into the limbo of unconsciousness.

-POV Yohn Royce-

Seeing the enemy cavalry charge I clenched my teeth, because there was no longer any possibility of going back, I didn't want to fight for this Tully woman but I couldn't refuse a direct order from my liege lord.

Even if we still had 50,000 soldiers it was nothing more than a crowd of peasants without any combat training, after 2 weeks of training they were barely able to maintain a formation and facing them was an elite infantry overequipped.

I didn't want to see this battle because I knew that our victory would only come at the excessively high price of the death of most if not almost all of these 50,000 peasants.

I signaled to my son who deployed to prepare the charge of all the knights of the Vale and then once everyone in place I took the lead of the rest of the men so that they maintain their formation even while charging.

"FOR THE VALE OF ARRYN"

"FOR THE VALE" yelled all the riders before charging with me.

-POV 3rd-

Seeing the cavalry of the Vale charge the battlefield on which King Aegon fought with his Shadow Guard and where he had almost annihilated the 7,000 enemy riders in an epic charge Tristan Sunfyre sounded the retreat horn.

To the great surprise of all the perfectly ordered troops of King Aegon fled the combat and began to climb the small hill behind them, but that wasn't the worst the worst happened when the Sorcerer King Aegon himself fled the battlefield in front of the powerful charge of the 15,000 knights followed by the 50,000 infantry soldiers.

Seeing King Aegon's troops withdraw the knights of the Vale redoubled the intensity in their charges almost breaking their formations, at the last moment young Andar Royce managed to maintain the formation without breaking until the foot of the hill but seeing the last Targaryen Loyalists pass the top of the hill all formations broke whether cavalry or infantry everyone had only one idea in mind not to give the enemy any respite and to finish them off once and for all.

-POV Carvin-

With a bow whose string was pulled to the maximum I was waiting for the signal to release my arrow, like the 10,000 other infantry soldiers who had been requisitioned to help the 5,000 archers of our army.

"RELEASE" yelled Samwell.

-POV Andar Royce-

As I reached the top of the mountain among one of the first the scene that awaited me at the top of the small hill had nothing to do with the one I imagined all the soldiers deserting and fleeing at full speed in all directions were now in shield formation with long lances of more than 5 meters.

I collided with them too quickly and without being able to do anything my horse was impaled by a lance, the violence of the impact made me fly from my saddle about 5 meters and as I tried to get up stunned and sore from the brutal fall

The last thing I heard before sinking into unconsciousness was an enemy soldier yell: "Don't kill him he's a Royce, the King will reward us for his capture"

-POV Yohn Royce-

The rain of arrows that fell on us completely darkened the already cloudy sky, I managed to raise my shield in time but I was thrown from my saddle because my horse had been pierced by several arrows in many vital places like the eyes and the throat.

I heard the screams and the moaning of the soldiers around me without being able to do anything I was completely powerless because the rain of arrows had no end volley after volley I looked around me and the soldiers fell one after the other.

Once the 21st volley was released for a moment a sudden disturbing silence hovered over the battlefield and once I risked a glance all I saw was a sea of blood and corpses.

AHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

-POV MC-

Seeing that more than half of the soldiers of the Vale had perished under the arrows of my men I decided it was time to drive the nail in so that they are totally broken without any means of turning the current situation in their favor.

I gave the command half of what remained of our cavalry to Jaime, which amounted to more than 4500 soldiers for him to bypass the forces of the Vale on the right, I did the same but this time passing on the left side to form a double pincer attack and crush what remains of their forces.

Once their rear in view I heard Jonothor roar "FOR KING AEGON" and all my men roared the same thing before breaking through the enemy lines weapon in hand mowing down anyone still holding a weapon.

"WE SURRENDER, WE SURRENDER"

"VICTORY"

"VICTORY"
