twisting protection to ward always sounded fishy to me. What right Dumbledore had to meddle in this. If protection was to individual it should not be moved to place and some other people. He should be given to Sirius or other people in will, or even just sent to other country with fake name to receive full education, then at appropriate age he should be informed of his heritage and true name. But no old meddling goat wanted to play politics and use him as poster child of his agenda.

Second thing is that Harry should demand return of item and do not take any excuse from McGonagall. This is partly the reason of war. Dumbledore destroys destroys culture, forces muggle holidays and erases knowledge. Potentially half of problems with curses and horcruxes could be easily solved if knowledge would be accessible and researched. Simple disclaimer in history book that it do not really works could prevent initial creation of them by Tommy boy.

no it is not. Wand is crutch because most wizards are lazy. Wands were not always used, and wizards were stronger it implicates, that they trained more and put more effort than simple spell name and wand waving.
Basically I learned raw magic instead of spellcasting. So all the incantations and wand movements didn't resonate with my magic. They wouldn't work unless I forgot and relearned everything I had until now. There was no way I would do that and give up all my hard work, for a less versatile and creative way of casting, but that also meant that the classes and spells thaught were almost useless to me. - waszi4mthReplied to HangerBaby
Unfortunately that is the result of lazy writing by JKR. Her characters actions and words do not match. The same with Dursleys, JKR wanted poor abused orphan, but it would not work in modern society to thist level, yes minor abuse. If someone has told story that his nephew is going to st brutus center for young criminals and said nephew is dressed in rags, neighbours would start asking questions or they would simply notify authorities. Only logical explanation is Oblivitiation, and that means Dumbledore knows and wants this. If he want this, logical is to assume he needs boy without self worth. Later books and scar horcrux present dark story where MC is raised to commit suicide in right moment. There are hundreds of better solutions in fanon even the worst ones with surgical intervention and using draught of living dead or obliviate tommy boy like gilderoy. But no, JKR wants wizarding Jesus.

Why it is always dragon ? Why not for a change kitsune or nekoshou and go senjutsu sage route. Even fallen angel would be more interesting choice. Still better than fanfic like "Brother of Issei" - for that you have to have NTR fetish or other mental issue :)

dumping for protection was simplest most idiotic thing to do: 1) because relationship can not work if you deny one side a choice 2) weasels were has already big target painted on them 3) do anyone see death eaters do this: "hey they breaked-up, we cannot target her".

Dursleys are Dark Lord Dumbledore fault. He meddled with this, small community with allied families would have no problem to adopt him but it would not allow him to raise him as suicidal child soldier.
