1 End of Third Year

JUNE 1994

Hogwarts Express

It was the last day of third year of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry for Harry Potter. To mildly say this has been an unusual year for the said boy though which was not anything unique considering the events of the first two years.

Harry Potter was currently occupying the last compartment of the Hogwarts express. He had asked his friends Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger to leave him alone for the duration of the journey citing that he needed to rest as did not feel well. 

Considering what he had been through in the last few days they did not questioned him too much, though Hermione with her usual personality wanted ask many questions, ultimately, she did not push Harry any further.

Harry was contemplating the various events that had happened this year, specifically in the last few days.

This year had started with him accidently blowing up Vernon Dursley's sister Marge, when she had insulted his Mom and Dad. Even remembering now her venomous words his blood boiled. Following the said events and having no other options he left the Dursley's house and arrived to live at the Diagon alley. In the Diagon Alley he was informed about the 'betrayer' Sirius Black and how he had escaped Azkaban and was now on the run supposedly to target Harry Potter.

He remembered how dementors that were supposed to capture Sirius, had almost sucked his soul during the train ride at the start of the year and only timely intervention from Remus Lupin saved his life. And considering he was Harry Potter how could things end like that. On the train was the first attack from dementors.

He then remembered how the owls brought to him 'The Firebolt' which was immediately confiscated by Professor McGonagall and Professor Flitwick. He remembered how he acted towards Hermione for her 'betrayal' by informing the two professors about the anonymous gift. Though thinking now, how his life was in constant danger since his first year at Hogwarts, he could not fault her actions but he was influenced by Ron and now he felt ashamed for it. He made a mental note to apologize to her for it, which he should done way back.

Another notable event of the year was the second attack by dementors on Harry Potter during the Quidditch match, which he again escaped by narrow margin.

This was followed by Sirius's breakout inside the Gryffindor dormitory. Events after events flowed after this. 

He was gifted the Marauder's map by the Weasley twins following which he discovered Sirius Black trying to kill an already dead man. He found out about Remus being his father's best friend.

The most shocking revelation of the night was an alive Peter Pettigrew, the real betrayer of James and Lily Potter.

Harry was happy on learning that he had a godfather who would love him. He could finally have a true finally. 

But he was Harry Potter, the mountain of misfortune. Peter Pettigrew escaped. But even so he was hopeful that words of him, Hermione, Ron, Remus and Snape would get Sirius a proper trial. Then the dementors attacked again for the third time and this time they were almost successful in sucking his soul. But a powerful Patronus which he initially believed to be of his father saved his life at the last moment but at the same time something changed inside him as he lost consciousness. 

When he woke he was lying on a hospital bed along with Hermione and Ron. But his world came crashing down when the Minister of Magic, Cornelius Fudge, despite his and Hermione's repeated insistence refused to believe of Sirius's innocence and insisted that the three of them were confuded by a powerful confundus charm from Sirius Black. Snape was all in agreement with Fudge and refused to admit that he had seen Peter alive. And apparently Lupin being a werewolf, his words counted nothing. Harry was so angry at Snape. One thing, one happy thing that was going to happen in his life and Snape ruined it.

Then came Headmaster Dumbledore and like the previous two years instead of acting himself left Harry and Hermione with an insane plan. Harry went back in time, saved his another self by casting a powerful EXPECTO PATRONUM, rescued BuckBeak and then Sirius. 

Snape let it slip about Remus being a werewolf to the students causing Lupin to leave his post of DADA professor.

Going over the events repeatedly he did not realize when the Hogwarts express arrived at The King Cross Station. He only got out from his thought when Hermione knocked on the door and came inside.

"Are you still not feeling well, Harry?" asked Hermione. 

Harry nodded in response, "I am fine now."

"We would be at the platform in few minutes. You should prepare yourself."

Harry nodded and stood up to get his trunk down from the upper compartment.

Meanwhile Hermione hesitated but said, "Harry if you have any issues, you can talk to me or maybe to professor Dumbledore. I can understand how you must be feeling now. I want to say that I will always be together with you."

Harry nodded. Though he showed no outward reaction he was glad to have Hermione as a friend.

"Hermione, I am also sorry for my behaviour during the whole Firebolt episode. I acted like a total moron with you." Harry apologized.

Hermione smiled, "You don't need to apologize Harry. I did what any true friend would do."

Harry immediately quipped, "But not Ron."

Hermione could only smile stiffly in response. 

Immediately afterwards the train arrived at the platform. Harry greeted and wished goodbyes to his friends, acquaints and the Weasley family.

A growling and angry looking Vernon received him and he was on his way to his prison called home at 4 Pivet Drive.
