Actually Ash's Pikachu never had a human trainer. They show how Pichu evolves into Pikachu while he leaves a group of Kangaskhan and stops for a moment to remember all memories and experiences with them.

That could actually backfire since lucario could have the ability justified that would increase it's attack due to being hit by a dark type move.
