63 CH2 (63), Relatively Big Jump (2)

The 6 Magikarp Mikail had decided to add to his team, were linked to the next 2 points he wanted to recap as well.

First the Magikarp eggs as well as population and second the experiment he had started.

During these 59 months, the population of Magikarp inside his pond had increased to 117.

He had 16 Magikarp inside the pond at the beginning, and he added 18 more Magikarp that he caught during trips to Lake Hope.

The other 83 Magikarp hatched from eggs that were laid by the available Magikarp.

At the start, there were only 5-6 eggs that hatched every 6 months, which was the hatching cycle inside his space, but after the previous batches started reaching their maturity, the number of eggs started to increase to 10+ eggs every 6 months.

Anyway, long story short the more Magikarp hatched and reached maturity, the more Magikarp eggs were produced.

Actually, more than 83 eggs had been laid but the others had not qualified to stay inside the pond and were relocated to his sub-space.

Out of the 83 Magikarp that did qualify he chose 6 that stood out to him.

The reason for that was linked to his experiment.

He had retired Magidraco as well as Magiflora and had transferred them to breeding duty.

Mikail decided to shift the focus of his experiment to eggs instead.

His test with the first egg had shown that the hatched Magikarp may possess an affinity in the event it had absorbed energy as an egg.

The Magikarp that hatched from the first egg possessed a weak dragon affinity thanks to the energy it had absorbed from the dragon lilies.

Still, Mikail was lucky that the first egg managed to develop an affinity because subsequent tests showed that only around 15% of the eggs developed an affinity to the energy they absorbed.

The others showed either no impact at all or had reduced potential as a consequence, at least he believed that to be the reason for the existence of most of the unqualified Magikarp.

His tests had until now produced Magikarp with an additional dragon, grass, poison, fire, and dark affinity.

Other elements were either not compatible with Magikarp or the number of tries/materials was insufficient.

Some elements might have a lower compatibility, thus having a reduced success rate.

Anyway, Mikail chose one Magikarp with the highest potential from each successful affinity group and a standard Magikarp that had the highest potential among the standard Magikarp.

Generally, he chose the ones that possessed light blue potential after the small bonus they gained from his space upon hatching, with the standard Magikarp being the only exception, as that one started with blue potential.

Now, before he went over the status of his Magikarp, he had to touch upon something he found out during the training of his Magikarp.

When 50% of the scales of a Magikarp that possessed an additional affinity turns to the color of its second affinity, then it has managed to push said affinity to the same standard as its water affinity.

Still, the color difference is the only obvious change that happens.

He noted that Magikarp do not automatically gain a second type upon achieving the 50%.

They only gained their second type after they managed 50% and broke through to the next stage.

Mikail had confirmed this himself after some of his Magikarp had broken through to the bronze stage.

He speculated that an evolution would work as well, but since none of his Magikarp had evolved yet, he couldn't confirm it.

The first of his Magikarp was the one with a dragon affinity, it was actually the Magikarp that hatched from the first egg.

Like he previously mentioned his Magikarp gained the Dragon-type after increasing his dragon affinity to the same standard as his water affinity and breaking through to the bronze stage.

Mikail had made Magikarp train all his parameters to 'SSS' before he broke through, and the bonus from that together with the supplements he fed him brought his potential to blue, not too far from deep blue.

What did surprise him was that Magikarp's Rattled ability was replaced by Shed Skin upon gaining the Dragon-type while he broke through.

About his quirk, Mikail was not sure if that was the influence of his dragon affinity or just his nature, but Magikarp was always ready for a fight.

Another important point were the moves Magikarp had been able to learn.

Mikail had first made Magikarp focus on his Splash.

He let Magikarp train the move so much that they managed to turn the move into a dodging maneuver.

After that, they used Splash as the basis to learn Flail and Bounce, which while not easy, wasn't that hard.

Teaching him Water Gun on the other hand had been much harder.

Mikail knew that Magikarp could learn Hydro Pump and since Water Gun was nothing more than a weaker Hydro Pump learning the move was not impossible, so they tried until it worked out.

Once he was good enough with Water Gun, they used it to learn Hydro Pump, and afterward, he made Magikarp master Water Gun.

After Magikarp mastered Water Gun and achieved a certain providence with the manipulation of the water element, Mikail tried to teach him Aqua Jet.

He made Magikarp surround himself with his own water and visualize shooting the water, with himself in the center, forward as he would with a Water Gun.

It wasn't easy but after a lot of trial and error, they succeeded.

As for Swift, that one was pure speculation on Mikail's part.

He had thought that since Feebas could learn Swift, Magikarp probably could as well, which turned out to be true.

He had asked Eevee to help Magikarp train in Swift and they had eventually succeeded.

He had thought about trying to teach him a dragon-type move but had to shelve that idea since Magikarp had zero experience with draconic energy and he thought it would take too long.

Next up was the second Magikarp he had chosen, this one had a plant affinity.

She hatched about 5 months after his first member and she had the Grass-type as well as grass/plant affinity.

The process to gain the second typing was identical to the one of his dragon-type Magikarp.

Since she broke through with 'SSS' as well, her potential was about the same as her predecessor, with blue potential.

Instead of Shed Skin, she gained Sap Sipper, which made her immune to grass-type moves.

Her move pool and that of those after her was the same as the move pool of his first member.

Mikail's third member was the standard Magikarp that started with blue potential.

This one actually replaced another standard Magikarp that had been hatched with light blue potential 2 months before him, but since his potential was better he took her place.

His standard Magikarp already possessed blue potential, and after his breakthrough, it increased to deep blue.

Besides his Aqua Jet being a bit worse, nothing special came to mind.

He had the standard abilities, as well as resistances and weaknesses.

Next up was the Magikarp with poison affinity.

This Magikarp and the ones that come after this one are still at the iron stage, so they have not gained their second typing yet, neither have they replaced an ability for a new one.

They only have improved their affinity to the same standard as their water affinity.

Her potential is still light blue, but since she has nearly reached the limit for all her parameters, she will be able to break through soon, which will boost her potential to blue.

She will also gain her second type and replace an ability for a new one.

Her quirk seems to show the influence her affinity has on her, but it is not as pronounced as it was for general poison-type Pokemon.

The number of resistances she will gain is remarkable as well.

Another point would be that she lags behind a bit on her Swift and Aqua Jet.

Next up is the affinity that he had expected the least, the fire affinity.

The last two Magikarp are less than a year old so they are a bit behind the others, even if it is not by too much.

Besides that, the most obvious point would be that he has only recently started with Aqua Jet and that his parameters are all 'SS' except for Agility, which is 'SSS'.

His Quirk also seems to be influenced by his affinity, which if one considered the other cases as well, showed that their affinity does have a certain influence on the behavior of Pokemon.

How large this influence is, remains to be seen.

Finally, there is the Magikarp with a dark-type affinity.

Wow, with so many Magikarp, calling them all by their species name can get confusing really fast.

She is the latest addition to his team and she is currently only halfway through the limit parameter vise.

On the other hand just like the Magikarp with poison affinity, she has a large list of resistances she will gain as well.

On top of that, she will be immune to the psychic type.

Still, she has currently started on both Swift and Aqua Jet, so those two are her worst moves right now.

Now that he was done with his Magikarp, he had to mention the Magikarp population inside his sub-space as well.

Compared to the one inside his pond, this one was quite a bit larger.

The number of Magikarp that hatched from their eggs, the unqualified ones from the pond, and the Magikarp he relocated during his trips to Lake Hope had swelled the number of Magikarp to over 9000.

Okay, jokes aside, the number of Magikarp inside his sub-space had reached about 400.

Now considering, that the worst ones had light yellow potential, with the majority having yellow potential, Mikail could confidently say that whether he planned to create a Gyarados army or use them for nutritious food, he would have no problem either way.

The most important part was that the increase in population was not slowing down and he had to seriously consider if the size of the sub-space was going to be insufficient in the near future or not.

Anyway, now that he had gone through his Magikarp and his experiment, his progress with ballcrafting came next.
