it would still be a story about tanya in the military, her weird antics and misunderstandings, her trying to not stand out while being shoved towards the front etc. instead of Being X, its just ambigious how he came to be there and the computation device should just be an experimental thing. he is not neccessary for the story as you can keep 95% of it as it is.

if its a curse, i dont think it would get outplayed so easily... if you fully intend to "reclaim" the relationship, did you ever actually broke up enough for the curse to recognize it? or why would the curse reset and not just start up again at the same spot if its the same person you date.
