Nah, just because they are placed in the North and in a cold place I wouldn't say they are like Vikings and Scandinavians. It is completely different culture and in the story it wasn't mentioned about any similarities from what I remember

Those two chapters were kind of waste in general situation. Although I know that this was meant to probably show beginning of two future high-level important members of his kingdom but it still feels like waste. Not to mentioned that it was impossible to achieve such trained movements of her ad hoc chosen team members
