Chapter 9: Beginning of a love story!

The next day they had a 7:00am class which was not to be missed since the lecturer gave an assignment and promised to give marks to students who correctly did their assignments. Arriving in class at 6:45 am, Daniel noticed Candy was already seated so he walked towards her and greeted while smiling "Good morning wifey" before seating beside her. Candy didn't bother looking at him so he said ""Angry at your husband so early in the morning? Don't forget I'll need to go visit my in-laws today so you can't be angry at me. Candy was flabbergasted. She replied "first of all I'm not your wife and second of all you aren't coming to see no in-law talk less of my mom. I told you to communicate to me but you didn't meaning you aren't available" Daniel Smiled and responded "Not like you need to prepare a feast to welcome me. Besides what am I doing? I am informing you. You just need to send a message to your mom telling her I'll pass by today after class. As simple as that" Candy sighed and said " I will but just to be clear we aren't boyfriend and girlfriend not to talk of husband and wife do stop being hysteric." Before Daniel could say a word, the lecturer entered the class. He checked his assignment to deserving students including Candy and Daniel. Apparently they had the best answer which landed them more marks than the other students. After the lecture they had two other lectures and a break. Candy was about stepping out when Daniel said he wanted to speak to her in private. He was serious which kind of scared Candy. He first of all took Candy for lunch then later on found and empty class for they to have their conversation without any interruption.

Confession!

On entering the class, He asked her to sit down and have lunch with him. During the meal it was awkwardly silent. Daniel began talking when they both were done eating. "I wouldn't want to waste your time since we'll need to go back to class very soon so I'll go straight to the point." He clears his throat and continues "I know for a while now I've joking about how I love you and want to marry but that wasn't a joke. Yes I really love you and I'll want to be your boyfriend and even if you say no I'll pester you every day till you say yes. I decided to come out clean because you weren't that repulsive when I joked about loving you so I believe even if you don't love, you definitely don't hate me and probably like me a little bit so I decided to make it clear to you today. I know you are worried about your education but rest assured being with me won't bring down your grades but in the contrary take them up. Anytime you notice our relationship or I am causing your grades to fall you can simply call our relationship off." Daniel ended his speech and waited for candy to say something. Candy waited for a while to put her thoughts together before finally saying something "Wow I'm shocked. I never expected someone who clearly knows my standard of living will actually fall in love with me. This is kind of surreal to me. I won't deny the fact that during these months of getting to know you I don't have any feelings for you. Even though it's not deep but I am aware of the feelings I have towards you. I will like to give us a try but we will need to take it one step at a time." She anxiously said "Can we now go to class? You're making me nervous" then she ran out of the class to our next class forgetting to take her bag. Daniel chuckled and took her bag and went to the next class. On seating down beside her, he noticed she was still nervous so he joked "Are you this nervous because i am coming to see my in-laws?" She angrily answered "who is getting married to you" then she turned her back on him. Daniel chuckled and said "it's fine I'm not coming to see my in-laws" Candy still couldn't look at him because she was shy not really because she was angry at him. The lecturer entered the class and the atmosphere was back to normal. After the class, Candy hurriedly packed her stuff and left the class. Daniel just followed behind her. She was about walking home alone when Daniel caught up with her and reminded her that they needed to visit her mom "Hey babe, slowdown. Where do you think you are going to without me? From today henceforth I'll pick you up in the morning and drop you after class". Candy didn't respond but just entered the car. On their way to Candy's house they never said a word. Candy just looked out of the window during the whole drive. On arriving at Candy's house, Daniel whispered into Candy's ears "I'm finally here to see my in-laws." Candy immediately warned him not to utter a word about their relationship to her mom. They entered the house and candy excused herself to go change out of her school wear. She came back seeing her mom, Jenny and Daniel laughing. She didn't intrude but sat quietly far away from Daniel. He just glanced at her for a flit of seconds but said nothing and continuously discussing with her mom. After a while dinner was served and after dinner, Daniel had to leave due to an emergency in his work but found a random excuse since Candy knows nothing about his job. Candy was asked by her mom to escort Daniel to his car and she did. On arriving beside his car she said good night, turned around and was prepared to leave. Daniel stopped her and asked if that was it. She looked at Daniel a little bit perplexed "Haven't I said good night?" is there something I haven't done?" Daniel sighed and responded "is that how you say goodnight to your boyfriend? Not even a hug?" Candy immediately became shy and ran to her room. Her mom stood in the parlor wondering what happened to her daughter. Daniel smiled, entered his car and went home. On seeing Candy running to her room, Jenny excused herself from her mom and went straight to the room. Arriving in the room, she saw Candy hiding under the sheets pretending to be asleep so she just went on talking "sis why were you being shy just now? What did Daniel do to you? Did he kiss you? Are you guys a thing? Sis is there something you aren't telling me? If you like keep pretending to be asleep. One day I'll find out." After saying all those, she returned to her bed n fell asleep.

Daniel's house!

Just as Daniel entered the house, He saw his mom and sister sitting on the couch waiting for him. "Mom, Jane why are you guys still awake at this time of the day?" mom: "We should be the one asking you that question. This is the first time since you came back that you're entering this house at past seven so I and your sister would love to find out what or who kept you outside." He smiled and replied "since you guys will love to know I was out talking with my in-laws." After saying that, he immediately walked into his room. His mom and sister were trying to get more information about the "unlucky" girl but was cut-off by him saying he had some business to do so they left him. After dealing with his business, he texted Candy "Hey babe, how are you? Are you already asleep?" he was about keeping his phone when it beeped. He checked the message just to see two words "Hey. Nope." He sighed and asked "is that all?" Candy: "What else?" Daniel: "Nothing. Never mind. Why did you run away from me? You did that three times today. Are you avoiding me? Do I make you feel uncomfortable?" Candy: "No." Daniel: "Just no?" Candy: "What else?" Daniel: "good night. I love you" Candy: "Good night"
