Very Rough draft of Chapter 2

Back in america and staying enlisted

2004 - 2017

As I sat there thinking about what to do I had about 2 -3 weeks leave so i can get my civilian life in order before I need to go back i only had my military uniform never owned anything else

I started to cry on the steps of the court house I cried because I can be in the marines as normal civilian circumstances and not as an alternative to prison

And that's how I'm here on the steps of the Texas court house laughing and crying till someone walked past me

Stranger : "What the fuck are you doing here"

Mc "fuck off"

Stranger "excuse me what did you just say l, never mind that what the he'll is this why are you here"

Mc " I dont know you and i dont care to know you i have never sceen you in my life now will you fuck off and leave me alone"

Stranger " fine I'll leave your arse here then find your own way home I'll tell Beth that ypu had a night out on the town and was locked up for the night"

He then took a picture of me and walked off I yelled out "fucking finally did something useful and fucked off "

While i started walking down the start in the opposite direction not knowing what's happening

Stranger "dad i know this would go to messages but i saw Rip in town getting drunk did something happen at the ranch do you need me to come back for a bit"

I had nowhere to go no one to see so I bought a new phone one of the newer models and had the it girl at the desk set it up for me and get all the ne apps and log into the accounts and details and stuff nice girl she was only young just started she said she must have spent 2 hours helping me with everything getting me familiar with the system,

I payed her a $5k tip and said I hope it helps with anything if you need help call me she started to cry and I gave her a hug and she told me her phone number and said if I need anything to call her as well and that her name is Alice and shes 19 and that this will helped help her lot snd then she asked if she could do anything i said send me letters while im deployed because nonone else dose and she just noded while crying a bit and i told her to be careful and then went on my way

and decided to go to Colorado Bend State Park and camp for a few days and come back when I was a kid I always wanted to hike there so I walked till I reached a gun store and bought 2 sleeping bags a camel pack I hiking bag a knife I wasn't allowed to buy a gun or anything because of my past unless I got a special permit so I bought a pistol and some ammo alot of i also bought a few survivle kits and medical kits and a ruck sack tied it all up and away I was it was around mid day so I got something to eat and stocked up on non perishables and left and started to walk I walked and walked till it was night It was a little cold so I pulled out a wool blanket and slept off the road in a ditch on the morning I got up and kept walking It took me 1 day to get to the Colorado Bend State Park I got their in the morning and I bought breakfast and I just walked a couple easier trails and slept on the side of the trail under some foliage, I spent about 2 weeks in the park walking and exploring takeing photos and enjoying being in nature I was hiking back to the main sight when a bunch of police where there telling me to get on the ground I was confused and asked what happend they say that I was trespassing and that I was being suspicious I said I don't know about that but I was only here for a week the cop laughed and said it's been 2 and I was genuinely surprised after a warning and told to leave and questions why I have a gun I just shrugged and said self defence from wild animals with that I signed a waver saying I'm leaving the area and all that no fine was given because I was at the threshold

I started walking back wanting to taste something other than dry crackers or preserved food it took 2 day too get back into town because on my first night I woke up screaming from night terrors and just sat there for half a day think about what I have sceen and done.

Once I got back I decided to go to the market it was bight and none would be there but Texas Farmers' Market at Mueller was my goal and I'm 6 hours behind,

I finally made it and only one store was open I decided to check it out and it was a little nick nack store from a native american family.

I walk up and the lady closing up screams I get starteld and

Mc "whats wrong"

Lady "she yelled at me why the fuck did you sneak up on me like that"

Mc " sorry about that I do that sometimes I'm not used to how quiet this city is it's still unerving when it gets super quiet"

Lady " okay all good I'm going to close up shop now if your not going to buy anything"

Mc " I laughed"

and got an idea and asked

Mc " Do you have any dream catchers I'm have trouble with these dreams"

Lady " sure i do however I only have these left some tourists came through and I made a nice penny a few days ago"

Mc " that's good, I need a small one witch dosent make any noise "

Lady "hmmm like one for something like a key chain? No not at the moment but I can make you one but it'll cost extra because it's a custome order"

Mc "I laughed again and said sure, how about I pay now for dinner?"

Lady [ she was standing their for a second, and looked me up and down and sai]

"Your not some murder hobo are you?"

Mc "no, I'm more off a blunt force instrument " and laughed at the inside joke of remembering the time i hitting someone with the door rammer

She was confused for a second and then said

Lady " no I don't fuck on the first date I may have dignity she playfully scoffs"

Lady [she took an a pissed off look now with her hands on her hips and a death glare to match it]

After this we both started to laugh

Mc

"Look I was just asking to take you out to dinner and get to know wach other and discuss the payment of the dream catcher "

Lady "fine but your paying and it dosent pay for the dream catcher"

Mc "you lead and ill follow you,"

Lady she looked confused and said

" okay put your stuff in the back and help me pack up my shop the we can go"

After packing up we hopped in her car and off we go

MC calls out "hey I never got your name and you said this was a side hussle what else do you do"

Lady "other than this I help tutor kids on the reservation"

Mc " that's awesome, the kids keep you busy I guess

Lady " Yeah they do but it's stuff they gotta know and we don't have much out there"

Mc " after dinner we can stop by a wallmart it's only 7 pm I'm sure one of the shops are open we can buy something for the class rooms"

Lady "if you say so you're going out of your way to try and make an impression on m aren't you "

Mc " laughs sure just don't forget me then "

We then pulled into a small restaurant, it was an old ma and pas dinner

After we ate a young waitress came over and as she was cleaning the table she 'dropped' something then while bending over too pick it up I looked at the Lady I was with and noded my head at the waitress we both than took a glance and looked at the Lady afterward we ordered some coffee and just sat and talked for a while longer it was now 8pm

She eventually told me her name was Samantha and I said it's a beautiful name she thanked me

I thanked her for dinner and she laughed and said i bought it, then she thanked me for the wonderful chat but told her I had to go and report in at the base in tomorrow at 12 am, she was saddened and asked

Samantha " how long is your next contract

Mc " 13 years i said and frowed at her"

Samantha " she chuckle and said that's a long time I might be gone by then"

Mc " true so why not enjoy each others company"

Samantha "what did I say mister"

We both then laughed

Then we got into her truck and we were driving around the city in a comfortable silence for 5 then a sing came on the radio and we sang it while laughing like teenagers a few minutes later we pulled into a motel booked a room and enjoyed the night in each other's embrace

In the morning we were just laying there I woke up to Samantha tracing the outline of the tattoo on my back with her fingers i rolled over and pulled her into a cuddle the sun was up it's probably 8am and it was just us she was looking at all the tatoos and scars from however long I've beenin the military I have a few of the tattoos everyone gets and some others, more after 9am an alarm went off and I said we have to get up and get ready while, we sit up and lean against the head board Samantha then straddles me after that we had a distracting shower.

Samantha "explain your back tattoo for me "

Mc chuckles " the one on my back? Sure it was from Fallujah there was a guy holding a kid hostage after breaching the room during n ambush and I shot him on the leg, after I rushed him and grappling I took his eye and he bit my finger so I put his eye in his mouth then he reached for his jacket and I cut of some of his cheek and put it in hus mouth also during this I was swearing he yelling at him to stop reaching turn out one of the marines was also native and knew what I was saying Motega his name he started calling me skinwalker or walker for short as a joke and it cought on the monster is a mix of the skinwalker and a leshy and its eating a wendigo"

Avery " hmmm I get it because he ate him self he would technically became a wendigo and you are the skinwalker / leshy monster i hope the child was allright"

Mc laughed " indeed you are correct and yeah i was out for a little afterward but usually We passed the child off the the mother or a care giver after checking on the child"

After that we got dressed and started packing up our room while cleaning up our personal things we chatting.

Mc " hey Samantha if your still here after my years in the military I'll like to see you again, just try and send me a message or a letter through the mail"

I gave Samantha my mail information for the military

Samantha said " we shall see what happens if I find someone I wouldn't want to lead you on"

Mc "that's fine I'm not going to ask you to wait for me like were teenagers were both what 28 I laugh don't worry I can understand if you find someone but we will allways share and remember these couple days that's for sure I simile and laugh with her"

After a while of sitting in the car park she asks me a question I wasn't expecting

Samantha " are we going to buy those school supplies now or did I sleep with you for nothing"

Mc " I started coughing and lightly smacked her thigh and accused in a over the top way you waited for me to take a drink of water to say that and now look at me then we both laugh"

Mc I have some money saved up from the military and I'm serving again after this so I may as well spend some"

Mc I cut her off and say " your driving though I but first go to the military base i need to do something, after that we can go don't know my way around and you do so then I mumble plus I don't own a car"

Samantha "she starts laughing and say good I wasn't going to let you drive anyway"

After a while of going to the base and waited 3 house it was now 2pm and Samantha wanted to know where mc was mc made it back and said we have 1 day and that i need to be back by tomorrow at 12 am sharp, different stores we got a few white bordes and markers as well as a laptop for Samantha and one for the princible from me as a gift, after all the shopping for school supplies I ordered some bulk blue pens online because there cheaper and I got a fair few as well as some plain books after that we packed the cars and I spent maby $3k as we were driving to the school she started laughing

Mc "what are you giggling about"

Samantha "I must be good if i have you spending that much on me just after one night"

Mc I laughed "Yeah I know what am I thinking"

As we pulled into the school we got out and the principal came out and asked what Samantha was doing here I was her day off and we chuckled and

Mc " I said we bought a supplies "

Principal Littlefield *speaking in crow* " *why did you bring a white man here this will cause some trouble *"

Samantha was going to respond but is cut off by mc

Mc "* forgive my intrusion but I am half native although I did not grow up here I did not have a choice in the matter things hapen and I have been on my own scince I was 15 and now I'm here offering to help educate the children of the reservation*"

Principal Littlefield " I have do not havr the problem with you but those why they and exploit the land "

Mc "I agree the reservation should expand but it can't take over in a hostile way otherwise you risk isolation from those who would otherwise assist in the safe keepings off the reservation from massive companies if they see an optunity to sliter the hold on this are it'll be considered a prime investment for hotels and other attractions all over again"

While talking we where unloading all the supplies some local thugs came over and wanted to take some and Principal Littlefield was getting worried

Thugs " look guys a white boy trying get some favour from the lady hahaha give us all that shit "

Mc in marine fatigues turnd around " leave the area "

Thugs " no way what are you going to do hit us your in uniform you cant do that a white man assaulting a native oh no no you would be in a lot of shit if that hapend so give me the stuff and you leave "

Mc " this is a classed as a military aid drop off and I will defend it as such I'm not here as a 'white boy I'm here as the American marine escorting an aid drop off and I will defend it I pointed at the Toys for Tots program sticker and put it on the cars door and other toys in the back"

Thugs " I dont care give them here and lunged forward at the mc"

Mc procedes to punch the teen in the chest then chages targets looking at the other teen who was comeing forward and hit him as well his back now face the first teen as he stood up pulled a small knife and proceeded to stab the mc 3 times mc turns and hits the teen the face and he drops the 3rd kid who was watching the fight ran.

During this time Principal Littlefield had called the cops and and an ambulance

I started takeing off my army shirt and and asked Samantha to put pressure on the stab wounds on my back I then called the marines and said that there was an attempted armed theft of the Toys for Tots drop off at the school and the marine on the other end was pissed all I heard was yelling and a get there right fucking now

After he came back I told him had been stabed and the I heard even more yelling and something about a chance for a impromptu training exercise and then agreed well be there soon and he hung up I started laughing they asked why and I said ill see you after my deployment she looked confused this is when she gave me her key chain dream catcher and gave me a kiss.

After a minute of waiting reservation police came and told me to lay down I said I need medical assistance and they ignored me and orded me to get down as I layed belly down on the hot road and bleeding from the back and sides it must have been 1 minutes and we heard a chopper comeing in I didn't look because they had me at gunpoint. I could hear then asking why is there a helicopter flying out here and then it got closer and was landing some marines jumped out and immediately took up defence positions and moved up as a team towards the reservation police with wepons drawn they then secured the area and start to work on me and patching me up I was strapped down on the stretcher and taken into the helicopter while some marines stayed back and secured the area and I was gone for the rest of my deployment,

When mc gets back he meets up with all the MARSOC boys and starts training again no one notice the small dream catcher sewn into his helmet but it was all green and on the inside of the helmet he slept well for a few weeks

Re deployed 2004 to 2017

then he was re deployed for the next 5 years it was patrol and then breach multiple compunds and collecte intell then there was more gunfights he got shot and stared a few more tines during raids on houses and compunds

It was may 2005 and some marines snuck in beer and we partied I got bit drunk not enough to black out but enough to let lose I met a girl and i signed some stuff we than spent the night together

During this time at the start it was slow there was a time after 5 months in Afghanistan he got a letter it was from Samantha

Samantha " hi , not sure what to write but I'm doing well and just wanted to say that the kids and principal are really thankfull for the donation"

After this I sent a small reply thanking for the letter and that it was okay and that I'm happy the kids got the things they needed

This was how it was for a few years or so just small letters and a picture here and there I would send pictures of the desert and she send pictures of the mountains and maby one of just her wearing something the boys found that one though and made alot of jokes and that someone's stolen their attack dog.

I told them I'll train one to replace them and they didn't take me seriously so I applied for a bomb squads dog and learnd and trained with them to include a bomb dog in our squad which was a good ideas we found out latter

With the new squads member with the ability to smell explosives we when we do checks we use our dog

It's 2008 now it's been 4 years and we were travelling down a patrol point getting ready to hit a house we were going through a intersection in the road when the lead hummer got hit hard as soon as that happend it was on it sounded like a hurricane everything was chaos come went to shit our gunner was down shot through the shoulder we were pinned down there was a house outside of my door and I told them I was going for the door to try and start clearing the building because the hummer will be our tombs if we just sit here, we asked for smoke someone threw one out of their gunner port down to us I'm not sure who it was but it was what we needed and as soon as it bellowed out they raind down he'll and furry I waited a little and went for it.

Straight out and through the door so hard I don't know if anyone was behind it I just hit it ias hard as possible after that cinder came in and then others as soon as I saw 4 I said hummer 3 on me hummer 4 is a separate team hummer 5 and 6 so on after during this time hummer 1 and 2 where takeing the brunt of fire from the buildings we all got organised and moved through the build anyone was an enemy to us we cleared the first building all civilians where moved out I was on the roof I told hummer 6 to take overwatch and lay suppresive fire anywhere they can we went down stairs and on the first 1st floor one up from ground said where going through that wall and one team clears bottom one goes up and that's what we did we blasted theough the wall and cleard the next building

After this we could now see hummer 1 out side on fire and takeing fire from across the street seeing this reminded me of when I was first in Africa and saw an old marine freing burn to death trapped under a car, I didn't know why I did it but I ran out there and started pulling on the door if the hummer the front door was stuck the back opend after hitting it I was takeing fire as it opened I got in and the gunner was in his seat dead the driver was dead and passenger was screaming that his legs where on fire 2 in the back were disorientated and shell shocked I grabbed one and threw / shoved as hard as i could to the door he cought a few in the back but was inside i got the other one and layed him on the road at the door got the dead gunner and layed him next tonhim and tried pulling the passenger his right leg was stuck

Mc " your legs stuck I can't get you"

Marine "fucking get me out of here God dammit cut the fucker off if you have to "

Mc " fuck I got nothing to cut it with"

Marine " fucken grenade it fuck this I don't want to burn to death if it's a grenade I die faster if I lose my legs drag me the fuck out but right now if feels like my legs on fire"

Mc " fucking hell fine I drop the grenade and get out there's a muffled yell of let's go and then a fum I climbed back in and the marine is unconscious but alive his legs look like spaghetti up to his kneed I pull him back and out of the hummer and bloods going everywhere I start triage wile everyone lay down fire on the building and marines are helping with hummer 2 i turner kit both legs and the marine come around screaming bloody murder I ram as much fucking gauze up into his leg as I can find and tourney kit more I see the attire and I get the marine whos laying down to hold them while pinching

I'm covered in blood and other things get into gunner position ad rack a round and start firing into the windows after running out I climb out through the roof because medics are pulling the kid out and rally a breach team on me to clear the next building we clear them take a few back for questioning and others die I walk back out of the building and theirs a war journalist recording he was in the area he is recording the aftermath of what hapend and smiling I loose my shit.

Mc " Oi you you little cunt what the fuck are you smiling at"

Journalist " what"

Mc "I asked a question twinkle toes now answer me God damn it"

Journalist "what"

Mc "what the fuck are you doing here in the middle of a fucking military operation smiling"

Journalist " smiles more I'm a journalist and points at his press shirt I can record what I want"

Mc " I see red and take his camera and show his smiling face and then drag him over to one of the hummers that covered in blood, I scoop a hand full and ask is this what you wanted to see and smear it all over his face, you think what you do Is victimless how many gave you watched starve while you took a pictures how have you recorded now dead cunt, I hen drag him while his screaming for help all the marines are watching and I hit him 3 times in the street, hit his knows and break it and his glasses and then I hit his liver then stomp his hand and leave while calling him a cunt, I then get up and realise what I did and the marine inhanded the camera to recorded everything I look at the camera for a solid 30 seconds staring into space replaying everything since the start of this night, I blink a few times and look at my hands and vest my face is all sticky I stink

And I spew, I spew a redish tinted water everywhere, I spit on the floor and said poor basterd at the journalist and realised I've be shot in the shoulder and call for a medic to help the journalist and then start an evacuation and secure the area I then sit down in the back of hummer 3 and pass out whilst the marine still recorded me after that medical persenal arive and pull me out and start working on me.

I woke up 1 month latter covered in bandages the side of Mt stomach hurt well everything did but that was the main thing,

I looked around and saw no one so I called out to no response so I just gathered all the leads and made my way slowly to the window and sat down and just watched the sky and city move it must have been a while I was sitting there for a while and I heard the door open while the burse laughed and said he won't be up yet, as she walked in I was listening but didn't pay attention she stopped and ran back out and called the doctor I asked the doctor time and date

2009 it's been a month since the operation

after that it was check up and mental evaluation they really wanted to know why I 'attacked' the journalist I said I didn't I was protecting the identity of special forces soldiers and the scoffed I didn't say anything till I spoke to someone from chain of command and explained that the journalist has pictures of confidential information on operators, mission tactics as well as other information.

I spent 1 more year in Afghanistan after recovery

After that year I was put on leave at the start of 2010 during leave was back in texas and I tried called Samantha and with no answer I was worried because i didnt get as many letters from Samantha the itd been 6 months in the last letter she said she met someone and that she had to focus on them now, this was strange to me,

A little but I expected it and was fine I wished her the best and said we should still be friends

Now with free time not haveing anyone I bought a mac book air for $2000 I then went to a nice and secure storage locker facility and bought a storage locker and made sure I always had enough payments to keep it in use and safe inside the storage locker I had alot of old military surplus camos tents, t shirts, pants all new and fine to ware I had bought a hummer that I was in when we hit an ied and we all lived I then set it up like a mini apartment the owner was cool he was also a veteran from Vietnam we talked alot and he told me he'll look after all my stuff I thanked him and gave him a hug I hung out there for a while and

I was on the mac book I bought in early june and saw this think called bit coin was cheap and i bought alot os stupid shit for a laugh and i may have been a bit frunk with brother from Vietnam as I called him now I had alot of money so I bought $20,000 of this bit coin I didn't know at the tine but that was a very good thing
