Chapter 27. Slave marathon

Chapter 27.

"I'm scared" She said as she came out of the ground and stood near him in the arena, Her voice sounding like she was going to die the next minute.

"Don't be," Benjamin reassured her as he came and stood close by.

He tapped his head "System, what is happening? What are we going to do? '' He was trying to get information of what was going to happen to them, but as usual, he only saw his stat points and the main goal : [Become the king of Supernaturals. ]

"What a useless thing." He closed the status screen. "How will I become a king, when I am already a slave!" Angry, Benjamin kicked the mountain of sand in front him.

"Did you say something?" Said his roommate.

"You can talk?" He questioned when he realized she spoke to him earlier. Since all she did was wailing, he forgot she could speak. "Sorry I was just talking to myself " He replied. " Please can I know your name?" Since they were stuck with each other it's best if he knew her.

" Princes..!" She paused and tears started to fill her eyes but soon enough she forced them back. "Jinx. Call me Jinx"

Benjamin nearly fainted, his crazy roommate was a princess? Nowonder she has been wailing all the time. Her situation seems worse than his, at least she was a princess and now a slave. But in his case he was a monster and now a slave. 'What a stupid transition'. He regretted getting rid of Conian. At least he could turn into a monster and run away, but now he is useless, him, with a system.

" Benjamin" He hurried to say something before she felt bad. "I am Benjamin "

Then they looked yonder and noticed the group of slaves that awaited them.

The sun was scorching as Benjamin and Jinx walked to the crowd of slaves. It was a large arena and most of the spectators were slave executives and other creatures unknown to Benjamin. But today something was different. One official from The school for the Halflings has visited to enjoy the slaves' suffering.

The red haired girl walked beside him while they moved to the other slaves. They were standing below a high stage on which one figure stood.

He scanned them like a predator before moving forward for everyone to truly see his lovely face. From just a glance at him, anyone would know what he is: A blooded werewolf!!

The crowd cheered when he came to their view. "Hello Slaves!!" He raised his deep voice but strangely everyone heard him. "I am the warden of this establishment. Many of you slaves haven't seen before. Well, pray you don't meet in person." After saying that the crowd cheered saying " blood, blood, blood"

He raised his feet and stomped on the stage and immediately everyone became still. "This is simple, You are a total of 100 new slaves."

Someone whispered something to his ears. "Oddly we have an additional one so that will make us 101. Since you are newbies, I will explain to you what you are going to do.

From your left you can see guards standing there holding whips. And at your right you can see six lanes that go all the way around the field back to where you are standing. You are going to run. Every minute the guards will kill one of you. The weak one of course. This is how we remove the weak from the slaves so that the strong will be sold on a good price to the Vampires and the king. May the best one among you survive."

After he said that there were a few whispering between the slaves but that soon died down when the slaves drivers moved closer to them holding their whips.

There were a total of 21 slave drivers coming behind them, few of them were in chariots while the rest of them were just walking on their paws.

" Run!!!" One of them said as his whip lashed out.

Slowly Benjamin and Jinx started moving when they saw the rest move. At first they were just jogging then their pace quickened when one of the guards revealed the whip that had spikes at the tip of it.

"Run" The others yelled at each other as they began to move in their lanes. Benjamin and Jinx were the last once that followed behind.

Jinx was incredibly slow and Benjamin had been slowing down. Now he regretted asking her name earlier now he had no option but to run alongside with her. How dreadful.

Soon enough they have reached half of the path but only recognize the far land that stretched In front of them. Turning, Benjamin noticed the slave drivers were now nearing them on their chariot. And their whips were more than ready to lash out. Then they heard a cheer from the ordinances

"Kill the last one!"

His heart boiled hearing that, how is he going to survive when he was the last one they were talking about. Benjamin turned to look at Jinx who gave him a sad expression telling him to leave her to die.

But turning around the guards were constantly swinging their whips. And they couldn't keep up. Benjamin reached to her side and grabbed her by her shoulder and began to run with his hands pulling her behind. The sound of the whips flying in the could be heard just when he moved a little bit faster. Had it not been the fact that he chose to move forward the whip would have cut through his flesh.

Jinx as usual was holding the tip of the robe while running and at that instant, Benjamin wished he would let her sleep cold that night. This is no time to die. He has so many things to do in his life. He thought maybe he would get rid of the curse and live the childhood life he missed.

Suddenly the sound of the whip cutting through flesh was heard, when he turned to see it was a girl that fell on the ground while running and the guards never cared to spend her life. Within a moment she was scared of dying but in the next minute she was already taken by the thing she feared. DEATH.

Jinx muffled a scream upon coming to notice that that girl's fate would have hers if it weren't for Benjamin that pulled her along his fast stepping.

"Well it seems like we have our first corpse," The warden said to his friend Lord Duke.

"But I am more concerned about the boy that keeps on dragging the red-haired girl." He said looking downwards. "If he does that for too long he will die."

"Well I suppose he could be a material for your school, maybe join the Halflings off course if make it alive. "Said the warden to his good friend Lord Duke, the headmaster for the school of the halflings.

When Benjamin turned around and saw the guards were still after them and their whips readying to strike them. Quickly Benjamin pulled Jinx but she fell to the ground while the guards neared her.
