Chapter 26: Connection and Awakening

I look at five youkai carving the ground, creating a magic circle that will connect our two territories.

"What kind of runic word do you guys use?"

I look at Yasaka after looking at the words inside the circle. They are different from the ones many magicians in my territory use. They are using Norse Rune and Greek Rune to enchant an item or cast a spell.

However, the one the youkai carves on the ground is different from the one I encountered in the past.

"Oh, they are carving using the Celestial Language—a set of languages created by the Shinto God just like how the Nordic Gods created Norse runic language."

"I see. Can anyone learn this kind of magic?"

"Sure, if you can memorize all of them, learn how to control your qi, chakra, or senjutsu, and lastly, learn some calligraphy."

"Sounds hard."

"It is hard. Fuinjutsu, or the Sealing Technique, looks easy on paper but hard in reality. Not only that, but it is a dangerous art to learn because it is prone to explode, just like any runic technique."

"I see."

I nod and continue to look at the people working on the teleportation circle.

"Do you want to learn, Vale? I can teach you."

I look at Yasaka and say,

"I don't mind learning them. Sadly, I cannot do that at the moment. I did not have time because of how much work I have back home."

"Fair enough. Sometimes, I also did not have time to enjoy myself or train. However, when you have free time, I love exploring Japan."

"Oh? Really? I thought that as a ruler of a Youkai Faction, you already explore each corner of Japan."

She shakes her head and says.

"Nope! As you know, I am a ruler of the West Youkai faction. Because of this, I only explore the western side of Japan. I can explore the eastern side of Japan, but it requires permission from the leader of the East Youkai faction, and that old bastard is someone who is too petty for his own good."

"Don't tell me the reason why he let Devil rent his land because of pettiness?"

Yasaka frowns at my words for a second before shaking her head.

"No. The risk of them wreaking havoc in his territory is not something he will do just because he is petty. They must have bought the right to govern that land for a high amount of money or goods."

"Phoenix Tears?"

"Maybe. Unlike us, they use something called fear instead of chakra. Because of this, there are fewer healers there than in my territory. A steady supply of Phoenix Tears will do the trick."

That is interesting. I guess I can imagine he gets a bunch of phoenix tears every year as payment for letting the Devil Race use their land. However, that still did not tell me about the reason why Nurarihyon attacked Rias and her peerage member. I release a sigh and say.

"That is a good assumption. Which family will be the one governing Kuoh Town?"

"I don't know. The news has yet to reach us, but I have a feeling it will come from their so-called King Clan."

"There are only two of them left, right? Belial and Bael."

I have already studied about the Devil Race and their clans. The reason? DxD anime and novels focused on that race, so I need to learn many things about them, and their race and clans are one of them.

"Yes. However, I don't know which one is going to take over Kuoh. I think it will be Belial because Bael is too proud to govern over human territory."

"That makes sense."

I nod and see the Seal Master is done with the magic circle. He walks toward me and says,

"The magic circle is done, my lord. Please walk in the middle of the magic circle, touch the seal in the middle of it, and think of the place where the gate shall connect. A copy shall appear, and the magic circle can be used."

I nod and walk to the magic circle. I can see my guardians prepared to run toward me if something happens, but I smile at them to stop them from doing anything stupid. I touch the small writing in the middle of the magic circle and think of an empty clearing not too far away from our city.

I can feel some of my flames get absorbed into the magic circle and see it shine. I raise my left hand to stop my guardians from running toward me, and after a few seconds, the magic circle stops shining, but I notice the line the other carves glow orange, just like my sky flame.

I can see the Seal Master nod his head and say.

"With this, my job is done." He turns to Yasaka and says, "Please send the payment to my bank account, my lady."

"Of course."

Yasaka looks at me and says,

"Then let's visit Romania! It's been a while since I visited that country."

It has been decades since Yasaka visited Romania. The last time she arrived here was because the vampires kidnapped some youkai when they were going on vacation here. She needs to show them her full power before they finally release the youkai they want to eat.

Vampires are known as an arrogant race that think too highly of themselves and think they are the strongest in the entire world before a faction comes knocking on their door to wake them up from their delusion.

However, there is one thing that she immediately notices after stepping into Romania: it is cold. Not cold like winter cold, no. It is cold because of the energy around the country, making the sun not very effective in Romania.

As a priestess of Amaterasu, she has a special connection with the sun, and she immediately feels her connection with her Goddess weakening by half when she steps into Romania.

However, when she arrives in Vindice City alongside Vale and his companion, her entire body is washed by a warm energy that relaxes her body. As a youkai, she can feel the energy around her, which makes her body relaxed and comfortable. It is even more comfortable than the hot spring she visited yesterday.

She was so focused on her feelings that she didn't notice the energy coming out of her body. A familiar energy that starts to expand and form a flame-like energy around her.

Vale and his companion look there in shock. They know what is happening to her.

Yasaka awakens her Dying Will Flame.
