Chapter 16 : Sparks and sources: unveiling the secrets of magic

I went to the library, opened the door, and stepped inside. The sight that greeted me was truly impressive – what an amazing library! Holy crap! I'm not sure if I've seen that many book in my entire life. And they're all about magic. Unbelievable. 

Hmmmmmm. Weird. There doesn't seem to be a soul here...." Hello? Is there anyone here ? " 

" Why the screaming? Young man "

I shifted my gaze to identify the speaker. Oh my lord ! She's stunning. And those leg are really something... Is this the library or fashion runaway? 

" Where are your Manners ? Weren't you taught that books like silence? "

" Is that true ? "

She responded" some fantasy creature books take a nap at this time of day . They'll fiercely bite those that distrub their sleep. 

And that's nothing compare to.... What I will do to you for violating the rules in the library. "

Ay she's treating me . I'll reason with her " ok mam . I'll try to remember that. "

" Good boy. My name is Amelie earhart. I'm in charge of the nortale library. And you are...?"

I begin to introduce myself. " James pogger. Leonheart. What services do you have here? "

She glared at me with anger. " what do you mean? It's a library .. nortale has the largest collection of books on magic and the history of magic. 

Of course, not all books are available to first year students. Some may be too dangerous. And alas , some folios are temporarily lost .."

I inquired with confusion. " how could that be ? "

She replied " many of our students never return their books . "

" That's very rude."

" But it's not always their fault. These pixies are nothing but trouble! "

" Pixies ? "

She began to explain with a hint of sadness. " Students swear that pixies their books and other things from their bags. 

And then they scatter our books all over the academy grounds. And the library suffers! So many interesting works are lost. "

" Can't they be found? "

She answered" you can , but who's going to do it? I'm running the library all by myself. "

" Perhaps I could help you , miss Earhart ."

" Please , just Emilie " 

" Emilie, Is there any way I can help ? It saddens me to think of good books being lost like that. "

After a brief pause, she spoke. " I don't know... Actually why not ? Bring me all these books you find lying around the academy grounds. I'll gladly reward you with housepoints for them and "

" Sounds like fun . it's a deal. I will be more than happy to help you. "

" That's very generous of you, Mr. Pogger. "

Now, I need to ask about textbooks." I almost forgot I was on my way here to get my textbooks . Can I get them now ? "

She replied" no problem, do you have your student card? "

" Of course, I do . It's fresh ! I spent all night forging it . "

She smiled a little" you could've got it for your house perfect and spend your free time better. "

Hmmmm. Didn't she get that it was a joke . 

" I'll get your books, it'll only take a few minutes. In the meantime , go to my desk and sign for them . "

" Yes ma'am " oh nortale, you're so full of surprises. I've never seen a librarian like that . I wonder how all these ancient folio books don't catch fire from her heat.... Maybe she cools them down with her stern gaze . I should visit the library more oft.. " what are you dreaming about? "

" Me? Oh , uhh.... I'm thinking about my battle magic lessons. I can't wait. " 

" that's it . I'd recommend a ' from spark to fire ' by lignos of Wales . But the last student hasn't brought it back yet " she's really sad about the book gets missed

I gathered my textbooks, exited the library, and headed to Victoria's class. Upon entering, I discovered that Victoria was just about to begin. I couldn't help but wonder what would unfold in today's class.. 

" Students , the class is about to begin. I welcome you all to a class on the fundamentals of martial magic. I will teach you to understand what magic is .

How to find the sources of magical power. And use your talents to bend that power to your will." A ball of light materialized in her hands, and I overheard a guy say, " wow , did you see that? " 

" Magic is as much a part of the world around us as you or me. But not everyone is given the talent to feel and touch it . To learn new spells and develop your talents. 

Wizards must be in synergy with sources of power to understand and master their essencel." "Excuse me , ma'am, what do you mean , master it ? There are no details in the textbook " The girl I met at the library asked .

Victoria answered" good question, Gabriella. The textbook doesn't describe how the source of power is mastered . This is because it is different for every magician. 

There are many techniques for categorizing wizards by sources of power. But none of this is officially recognized by the ministry of magic. "

Then I spoke. " so not even magic can overcome bureaucracy? "

" Haha not bad boy " The boy I met outside the hall commented,

Victoria's expression turned to anger." settle down , Mr pogger, and becks. This will be your first practical assignment. Find your source of power. "

Then Gabriella asked " but how? Where do you usually start your search? "

" There are sources of power all around you! And the experienced wizards are capable of mastering any element and any power. 

As for the newbies... More often than not , a magician talents lie in one thing. And the easiest place to start is with this thing. 

Your source of power is closely connected with your personality . Look inside yourself, remember what you were always close to . Often it might be some element of nature. For example, I started with fire. 

I remember from my childhood the bright sparks of the fireplace in my parents house. The warmth of campfires when we went camping. How I laughed when my uncle's dragon spewed flames on command. 

And at your age i found my element in remembering that. "

After she finished, I comment." What a beautiful story .. perhaps you can give me a hint? I want to discover my source soon ! "

She pointed at me, smiling." don't rush yourself Mr. Pogger , and guys always remember . There's nothing more dangerous than magic that's out of control. 

And more often than not. It's harmful to its owner. So don't be in any hurry when choosing a source of power. Find it yourself , and only then look around you. "

Either it's been too long since been to a lecture . Or Victoria is really wise.

Well, that's great. Although I'm unsure how to discover my source of power, I'll address

that later. Now, I need to attend Sabrina's class..
