Promise

Kendell sits in the passenger seat of Austin's mustang.

"Where are we going?" He looks over at Austin. "My house" He clears his throat.

After a little drive, the drive up the driveway of the Williams Two-story house overlooking the lake.

"Wow...this is beautiful" Kendall says and Austin smiles.

"Yeah, different from the old house that you know when we were younger" He explains.

"Nicer" Kendall adds. "Bigger yeah, but not better" Austin replies and clears his throat.

He steps out and Kendall also gets out. Austin walks over, "I have a warning, my father loves all thing's amateur wrestling. Sometimes he gets a little too excited" He explains and they walk up to the door.

Austin opens the door and walks in. Kendall follows.

"Mom! Dad!" He calls out and then they walk into the living room. His parents look at Kendall.

"Guys, you remember Kendall. My best friend" They smile and greet Kendall. "How could we forget a boy with a voice like his" Sarah exclaims.

"Voice?" Austin asks as if he didn't know. Kendall gives Austin a look. "Of course, Austin you don't remember when Tamia and I put you two in that play together" She explains and Kendall looks shy.

"He was the star and you" Alan looks at Austin. "You were a tree" Alan and Sarah chuckle. Kendall joins and laughs along. Austin smiles, "There...hold that" He says and gets up.

"What in the name are you doing?" Alan asks. "That smiles, lights up the room. I'm glad that you two were able to put one on his face" Austin explains and Kendall returns to being reserved.

"Speaking of face, Kendall-" Austin cuts her off. "Hey mom, dad is it okay if Kendall spent the night?" He asks and Kendall shakes his head.

"Austin, that's nice, but I can-" He cuts him off. "Kendall, you can stay one night" Austin reinforces and Sarah looks at the two. "Of course...of course, he can spend the night. I will tidy up the guest room just a bit" She explains and Austin smiles.

"Thank you, mom" He says and sits across from Kendall. "See" He says and looks at Kendall.

Kendall shakes his head and then begins to hum. "Let me here something" Alan requests.

Austin nods and Kendall stands up. "Why should I feel discouraged..." Kendall sings and Austin closes his eyes, anger beginning to build.

"And why...should shadows, shadows come"

"Lord Why, Why, Why should my heart, my heart feel lonely"

"And long for heaven, heaven and home, oh-yes" Kendall belts out and Alan begins to get teary eyed.

"When, when Jesus, Jesus is, he is my portion" Kendall gets louder and Alan feels weird, as he is not a church going man. Alan feels the pain in Kendall's voice more and more.

"Oh, oh-oh, his eye is on, his eye is on the sparrow and Oh yes I, I know He watches all over me" Kendall belts out the last night and softly ends. Alan and Austin both clap as the wipe the water from their eyes.

Kendall smiles and sits back down. "Thank you" He says. Sarah comes back down and looks at everyone. She clears her throat. "Well, the guest bedroom has been fixed up" She announces and Kendall smiles.

"Thank you" He thanks them and follows Austin up the stairs. "The bedroom is nice, don't worry" He says and they walk down the hall to the room.

Austin stops at a door and let's Kendall walk in first. "Here you are" He says and Kendall has a small smile. "Thank you Austin, I will pay you back" He promises and Austin nods.

"Well don't worry about that. Let's make sure you get good night's rest" He explains.

Austin walks out and comes back with a towel, bath cloth, and soap.

"I will um, get you some night clothes to sleep in" He says and walks out of the room.

Kendall gets undress and walks into the bathroom. He gets into the shower and let's the hot water hit every spot of his body. Soothing the aching and pain that he has withstood.

Kendall eventually finishes his shower and places the towel around his body. He walks out to the bedroom and the clothes are laid on the bed.

Kendall gets undressed and puts on the clothes. They are of course too big, but are better than nothing. He soon gets into the bed and Austin walks in. In a plain white tee and pajama pants.

"Hey, you going to be okay in here?" He asks Kendall. "Yes, why wouldn't I be?" Kendall asks Austin.

Austin looks at Kendall. "I don't want you to worry or even thank about Luther, you are safe here and you are with me. No one in this house is going to let anything happen to you." Austin explains.

Sarah walks up. "Is everything okay in here?" She asks and Kendall gives her a grateful smile. "Thank you once again for this Mrs. Williams" Kendall gives his gratitude.

"It's okay Kendall really, it is just a overnight stay. Austin has never had one of his high school friends stay over before. So, I am to be on my best behavior" Sarah explains and Austin gives her a look to go to bed.

Kendall chuckles to himself after seeing them to. "Okay, well I should be going off to bed now. I will see you in the morning, Kendall" She says and then goes to bed.

"You know that I won't let anything happen to you. We will figure out these Luther situation. In the meantime, get some rest and go to sleep." Austin explains and Kendall sits up.

He grabs Austin's hand. "You're a good" Kendall informs Austin. Austin laughs, "You think so? Well, put in a good word with the new girl for me" He says and laughs.

He looks at Kendall. "Lay back, lay back. I'm kidding" He admits. "Luther isn't going to bother you here. I promise you" He reaffirms.
