Smile on my Face

Kendall wakes up and instantly feels the pain shoot through his jaw.

He had a hard nights rest. Worried about Luther coming to attack him in the middle of the night and also feeling the effects of the right hook he suffered the previous night.

Luther opens the door and Kendall is caught off guard. He jumps a little in fright. Luther laughs a little, "Breakfast" He only says and walks back into the living room.

Kendall quickly walks over to the door and closes it, putting his back up against the door. He slides down to the floor and begins to cry quietly.

Meanwhile at the Williams household, Austin is doing his morning exercise in the garage gym. His father trains with him in the morning and pushes him more than anyone else in his life. He has been like this his entire life and Austin has hated it his entire life.

Austin is a wrestler, one of the best on the team. Alan his father is a former high school baseball pitcher and is now an esteemed state judge.

"No, Austin" Alan says as Austin makes a wrong move on the mat. "Aye" He lightly slaps over the head. "What the hell is wrong with you?" Alan looks at Austin.

"Nothing, I'm just made a mistake" Austin responds and looks at Alan.

Alan moves closer to the mat. "Well, you don't have room to make mistakes. If you are going to make state again this year AND national then you need no mistakes" He explains.

Austin sighs and nods. He breathes heavily and Alan gets into position. Sarah, Austin mother the town OB/GYN walks out from the door that leads into the house.

"Boys, that's enough. Austin you have to get to school and Alan you need to get to the courthouse" She explains and Alan looks back at Austin. "Come on, get into position" He says.

"Mom just-" He cuts him off. "One more time" He says and Austin groans. "Fine" He says and positions to put his father down.

"Set!" Alan yells and they begin. Austin quickly goes under and wraps his arms around his fathers legs. Then he picks him up and turns him over on his back, crashing down to the mat.

"Son of ah bitch" Alan groans out and Austin gets up. "Shit, dad..I'm sorry" Austin looks at his father laid on the mat.

Sarah walks over quickly, "Oh my god, Alan..are you okay?" She asks him. He just holds his back. She begins to get up, "I'm going to call an ambulance" She says. She is about to walk away when he grabs her wrist.

"No, no. I'm fine" He says and slowly gets up. He looks at Austin. "That was good son" He says and then Sarah helps him inside.

Austin rubs his forehead and grabs his towel. He goes inside and gets a shower. He steps out with his towel, then goes and changes into some clothes for school.

He ends up going with a plain blue tee and khaki pants with Nike shoes.

Austin walks downstairs, grabs his bag off the coach and places it beside him at the countertop table.

His mother hands him a full plate of breakfast and Austin begins to eat.

Alan sits down at the kitchen table while Sarah gets him a bag of peas. "That's good, get your weight up. We want you in the heavyweight division" He explains.

Austin shakes his head and continues to eat. He takes out his phone and sends a text to Kendall.

-I'll meet you at the gate- He sends the text.

He goes back to eating and then walks out to his black 2018 Ford Mustang convertible. He places his bag inside and notices that Kendall had not text him back.

-You okay?- He sends the text.

"That's weird" Kendall is usually good about texting back his best friend of all people. Austin gets in and drives to school. He grabs his bag out and his teammates walk over.

Austin smiles and his boys began to dap him up. "You white bastard, what was that all about last night?" Noah a six foot, brown hair, average built, cocky prick asks Austin.

"What was what?" Austin acts confused. "Oh come on, you left the girls with us. We had to pick up your dead weight. Right Terry?" Austin and Noah both look over at Terry. "

"Yeah, there were three girls and only two of us. They end up leaving" Noah explains. "I'm sure you two did just fine, plus, with me there you two had no chance" He chuckles and Noah smirks.

"You might be right, but look look here" Noah says as he looks down the hall. The new girl and former beauty pageant queen from LA walks down the hall. Her family moved to the small town for unknown reasons, rumors are her dad was involved in the drug game. No one knows the real story.

Austin, Noah, and Terry all look. Austin smirks and the girl glances over at the guys. She puts on a small smile and continues walking. Austin puts his bag in his locker and takes out his book.

"Should I?" Austin asks. "Hell yeah, get that" Noah responds and Austin nods. Austin daps them goodbye and walks behind the girl. "So, new girl huh?" He asks.

She smiles and looks back at him. "Something like that" She responds. "So, you going to tell me your name or, I have to guess?" He proceeds. She continues walking and smiling.

"Stephanie" He says and she stops. She turns around with furrowed brows and a smirk. "Bullshit" She says and he smiles. "So it is Stephanie?" He asks.

"It is, but I have a feeling you already knew that" She says and he shakes his head. "This is the first time I've met you" He says and she laughs. She walks over to her locker.

"And what is your name?" She asks. "Austin...Austin Williams" He informs her.

She gets her books and starts to walk away. "Some of the girls took the liberty to "induct" me into the Quad High women's society" She explains.

Austin looks confused. "Yeah?" He asks. "I know your kind and they confirmed it" She explains.

"Woah..you don't believe in not judging a book by it's cover?" He asks. She smirks as she arrives to her classroom. He stops walking.

"Not, when there's a huge ad telling me exactly what to expect" She explains and goes into her classroom.

Austin turns around and walks down to his classroom. He expects to see Kendall in their, but the seat in front of him is empty.

He takes out his phone before class start. -Where the hell are you?-

-Class is about to start-

-You are starting to make me nervous-

-Kendall-

"Mr. Williams, phone away that's the only time I will tell you" Mr. Cooper, 12th grade English teacher.

"Sorry about that Cooper" He responds and puts his phone. Kendall walks in 15 minutes later. Mr. Cooper stops him at the door and questions him about his tardiness.

Mr. Cooper lets him in, Kendall walks over with the hood on and sets in the chair, not once looking at or acknowledging Austin.

Austin is confused and begins to think over if he forget a special day or if he pissed Kendall off somehow. That would explain why he hasn't been returning his messages.

Austin takes out his phone again and tries to text Kendall again.

-What is wrong? Did I do something?-

Kendall doesn't even look at his phone.

Soon the class has finished, Kendall gets up and quickly walks out.

"Kendall..aye" Austin attempts to catch his attention. He quickly follows after Kendall.

He finally catches up with Kendall and pushes him into an empty classroom.

"Hey, what the fuck is going on?" Austin asks Kendall and he looks away. Austin looks at Kendall confused. "Aye, if I did something, tell me for crying out loud" Austin starts to walk closer to Kendall.

"I deserve to know what the hell I did" Austin steps closer again and Kendall moves back. Austin looks seriously, "If this is a game, it isn't funny" Austin says and steps forward again.

"Kendall! For fuc-" Austin stops when he notice the flinch from Kendall and the crying.

Austin walks over. "Woah, woah, hey, Kendall babe" Austin asks confused. "I'm sorry, what's wron-?" Austin is cut off from his question by finally being able to remove the hood from Kendall and now Austin can see the bruise around Kendall's eye.

He stands up. "Which one of these fuckers did this to you?" He asks him. "Aust-" He cuts Kendall off. "I'll go out there right now and make an example" Austin explains. "Just listen.." Kendall whispers.

"What was that?" Austin asks. "It was Luther.." Kendall reveals and Austin is shocked. "Your step-father?" Austin asks and Kendall nods.

Austin sits down beside Kendall and opens his arms. "Come here" Austin says and Kendall leans into his arms, then begins to cry again. "I'm sorry" Kendall says.

Austin notices his eyes beginning to get watery. "Why are you apologizing?" He asks. "Because..you shouldn't have to deal with this drama" Kendall explains and Austin laughs.

"You're my bestfriend...we will figure this out" Austin says.

"I promise"
