A Very Small Window

I watched this small form back away the moment I inched towards it. I decided that it was a male child. His hair looked very unkempt. I guess sitting in a broom closet does that to you. I decided that if I wanted him to trust me I'd have to let him get used to me. I stupidly decided that sleeping was the answer. ( Hey. I was tired.) And by the time I woke up it was clearly very late at night. But I glanced down to see what was so heavy, and to my surprise, there he was. Clinging onto me like a toddler does to his own mom. And for some reason, I was extremely happy. I reached to pat his hair when I noticed how adorable he was. He had the roundest little cheeks, didn't look excessively fat, yet had the I'm babyish look to him. His eyes were open. "Hello, Dear." I tentatively patted his forehead. And almost immediately realized that a broom closet is NOT a good place for a small child. I realized I could probably lift him up to the edge of the windowframe. He could probably push it open and get help. "Dear, do you trust me?" He looked at me curiously. Tap Tap. (Yes.) "Okay then. I'm going to lift you up. And once I set you down, open the window and go for help." He looked shocked. I didn't give him the time to struggle. I just picked him up and set him without any difficulty on the windowsill. He opened the window, finally accepting the job I'd given him,and left. I sat there for hours. Not knowing what was happening on his end. Had he been kidnapped by a pervert? Did he get lost? Did he forget about me? But He certainly didn't because eventually the door opened. And there he was. The man who would soon become my own personal hell.
