Doron was unfortunate to meet a wendigo during a camping trip, and this encounter turned his life upside down. Now, he has to survive in a world that he thought only existed in novels and comics. The thing is, that wendigo for some reason changed into a loli?, that could grant him super powers for a day or when his life is in danger?. All this started because he went into the woods to get firewood?! I think, he would be traumatized from this... poor kid won't go into the woods ever again.

Chapter 37: A Brief Interlude, And History

When the trio saw this, their faces fell, as they could not really determine if this was an illusion or not as they looked at the slime queen and the two women beside her.

They looked exactly like her, with the exception of their red and blue hairs, which reminded them of Marble and Orb.

"You actually broke the illusion... Could you tell me how? So that I can at least break free from this one," Marble, the woman that they believed was Marble, spoke as she looked at the trio.

"Could you let me do the talking? Thank you." The slime queen spoke as she looked back at them. "Don't mind her; she is still suffering from some illusions. Anyway, could you guys please sit down and let us talk? We have something we want to tell you guys, and don't bother calling that hell dungeon core; she is trapped on a different plane than you guys right now." Lydia slowly spoke as she entered the dining room with her sisters.

Doron and the others, of course, kept their distance from her as they made their way to the other side of the big dining table.

As the sisters entered the hall, they had a clear view of the monsters that were outside the room, blocking the only door that led to the hall. Now Doron knew why the hall, for some reason, had only one entrance.

"Could you at least sit? We don't bite; we absorb." The Orb woman said with a friendly tone that maybe she thought that telling them how they eat would have settled Doron and his companions hearts.

"Of course," Doron responded with a strained smile as he sat down and looked above the heads of the slime.

"Do you like this form? Or this one...

Forget it; my husband does not exist; die anyway."

Power: Mimic: She can absorb the form and power of any creature she has absorbed, even if it's just their hair. (Can only use 10% of their power.)

The system interface had changed, as had how it described the monsters; the system was also a very cultured system.

Aside from that, their descriptions had changed, and Doron could not really get anything from them anymore.

It seemed that the first time he saw their descriptions, the illusion had somehow affected the system; no wonder they decided to upgrade the system. I mean, imagine if he was in a dangerous situation and then the system suddenly malfunctioned, and that was what led to his death. Won't that be a slap in the faces of those supervisors who sent him here?

"Cookie, any one?" Lydia asked as she brought out plates of cookies and placed them in front of them.

Doron, who saw this, felt his liver itch as he looked at the delicious cookies that somehow put him under an illusion, or rather increased the power of the illusion in him.

"I think we are okay," Iris rejected with a respectful smile, as she still remembered what Doron asked about them ever eating anything since they entered the dungeon. Now she was hungry.

"Okay, I would just leave them here," Lydia said with a smile.

"Yay! Cookies!" Marble clapped her hands like a little kid as she took a cookie and placed it in her mouth, ate with relish, and mumbled. "Sister Lydia's cookies!".

"Can we get this over with? You are taking to much time; she might get here at anytime." Orb spoke as she also took a cookie and munched on it; her curved eyes showed that she was happy eating it.

"Yes, my sister is right; we are taking too much time; you see, we want your help with something," Lydia spoke. "We want the realm menace to absorb our mother and make her part of your growing legion."

Doron looked at her and said, "You expect me to believe this sh*t?" look.

"I know that you might not believe after what happened, but the thing is, we were part of this; it was our mother," Lydia explained. "You see, just like you, we were placed under an illusion, and all that you people were seeing were also illusions; in fact, we are still in an illusion, but my mother's powers have not yet fully awakened."

"So that picture of you and Doron..."

"Yes, it was fake too... But I would gladly make it a reality if you want." She directed that question to Doron, who replied almost instantly.

"I have a wife."

""""...""""

"Ahem, so why would she place us under an illusion if you want the realm menace to absorb your mother into his legion?" Iris broke the awkward silence with a question that was, of course, on the minds of her and her companions.

"She is waiting for someone." Orb was the one who answered this question. "She believes that the person who kept her here will come back for her."

From the way Orb spoke, it was evident that she did not like this person that her mother was 'waiting' for.

"Kept?" Doron caught this word in her sentence and felt that it was a little out of place.

'Is she not the dungeon core of this dungeon?' He thought, looking at the sisters.

"Yes, kept; we don't know when this happened, but my mother was just a little slime core that had somehow gotten blessed by some god, and she was found by some adventurer who saw her as some kind of 'golden finger'?... That was what he normally called her." Marble spoke this time with another cookie.

"She said that they entered this dungeon; at that time, it was called the dungeon of insanity, and during a fight with the dungeon boss, she fell down, and her master did not know and landed the finishing blow. When he was being tranported out of the dungeon, he realised late that she had fallen out," Orb continued. "After some time of waiting, she decided to take control of the dungeon and only succeeded in taking control of the interior of the dungeon and some of it's inner workings, not the overall workings of the dungeon."

Doron and the others realised that the dungeon was not what it seemed, and if what the twins said was true, then that means that this could have happened hundreds of years ago, since everyone was already calling it the slime dungeon.

That could be why the entrance was like that; it was not to show your deepest fears but to make one go insane from looking at it, and this could only be achieved by using part of their fears.

"So why are you guys willing to let me absorb her?" Doron asked his own question.

"We want to leave her." Lydia answered.

"Do you know what it's like to be killed in different ways and then be revived to only be killed again in another way? We don't want that anymore," Marble said as she felt like crying.

Yes, they were monsters; yes, they were meant to be killed by humans and then used as stepping stones for them to grow, but they were still living beings; they could feel pain, they could cry, they could bleed... They were slimes, but you get what they mean.

Doron, Iris, and Patra looked at them and sighed. Doron did not know why, but when he heard what the slime said, he felt like he had realised why he was here and why he was sent here as the realm menace that could abolish the dungeons of this world and control their monsters.

"Okay, we would help, but how can I trust you?"

Doron had not finished speaking when the slimes placed some stones on the dining table. They were all in red, blue, and violet, showing that these were their dungeon cores.

"These are our original cores, not the ones that my mother gives those adventurers; breaking these cores can instantly kill us, and we won't return to our mother's embrace if we have our cores destroyed," Lydia said, looking straight at Doron with determination on her face.

"..." Doron just looked at the cores and stretched his hands to take them, but they were held by Iris, who looked back at the women.

"These aren't tricks, right? How sure are we that this is not another illusion?" She fired those questions with a serious expression on her face as she looked at the slime and their cores that they placed in front of them.

Patra did not say anything as her eyes had been on those monsters blocking the entrance; she was waiting for any suspenseful movements of those monsters—anything. Even if those monsters sneezed, she would attack.

"That is a good question. Because of our mother, you can't use your powers, but we can let you bypass that; the problem is that you won't like the plan." Orb said.

"That is not the answer I want." Iris was really serious now.

She could summon the power roulette, but that was just an artefact, and she could use that to make them think that she still had her powers with her.

"We don't have any answers to that question," Marble said with some frustration.

Their mother was making things hard for them; she had even used their voices at times to trick these guys, so she would not be surprised if they still did not believe them.

"So how do you then expect us to believe you? We have one life, not an unlimited life span like you guys," Iris retorted as she folded her arms.

The sisters looked at each other, and Lydia stood up, walked to the monsters outside, and did something that Doron, Iris, and Patra did not expect.

She killed herself.

She made one of the monsters pierce her chest, while the others sliced and pierced her, killing her in a very gruesome way.

Her sisters did not move and just looked at Iris with some slight anger in their tone as they spoke together, almost in unison.

""Does that count?""
