Mondays..I hate them
For the rest of the week Raheem stayed inside or went to the circle outside to meditate. He didn't have any contact with anyone besides Tatiana and Frank. He was currently outside meditating.
'Remember who you are, remain in control at all times. You do not need to become the beast, but instead control it.' He would periodically shift to his werewolf form and try to control his new power. Predators sense allowed him to sense a person's danger level and gave him the ability sense if someone was looking at him. It was more of an animals instinct. He would automatically know whether or not his surroundings was dangerous to his safety.
It was a passive ability, he wanted to shut it off, he hadn't gotten much sleep because of it. Tatiana and Frank was around all the time, making it warn him of how dangerous they were. He already knew they were powerfull and dangerous. It was even worse when he shifted, he was always in an agitated state.
*Ring Ring*
His phone was ringing and he heard it from his bedroom window. He tried to close off his ears. He knew it was Sasha calling him, he hadn't talked to her, since the dinner he went to. He didn't want to see her, he was afraid of himself. He was afraid that he would attack her.
Tatiana grew annoyed with the ringing and went upstairs to answer the phone. "Yes!?"
Sasha was taken aback at first. "Um, hello. Is Raheem there?" "Yes, but he is not allowed to talk. What can I do for you?" Tatiana was annoyed with Sasha. "Oh, can you just tell him that I called?" Sasha immediately hung up the phone. Tatiana tossed the phone on the bed and walked away.
Sasha was in her room on her side crying. Nikki came in and sat and silently rubbed her back. Sasha sat up and hugged Nikki. Nikki held her and started to hum a nursery song.
Sasha slowly relaxed. Nikki laid her down on the bed and covered her up. She turned off the lamp and stood up to leave. "You know what mom, Mondays...I hate them the most." Nikki paused and leaned over and gave her a kiss on her forehead. "I know sweety, but they can also be the start of something new."
Nikki went downstairs and into the kitchen. Blake was sitting there drinking his morning cup of coffee. Nikki ignored him completely and fixed herself some breakfast. She sat down with her plate and started eating. Blake looked at her, then down in front of him. "Where is mines?" Nikki got up and grabbed some ice and water. "Here." Blake slammed his mug on the counter and left. On the way out he slammed the door so hard that a picture fell of the wall.
The picture was the four of them. Sasha was nine and Samantha was five. Nikki held Samantha on her hip and Sasha was on Blake's shoulders, they had just reached the peak of their hike and decided to take a picture. Nikki picked up the picture and reframed it. It didn't go back up on the wall though, it was put in the closet for safe keeping.
Samantha came running downstairs half way dressed. "I over slept and I missed the bus!" Nikki grabbed her car keys to take her to school, but was stopped. "Don't worry about it mom. Raheem's is coming to pick me up." "He is coming here?" "Yeah, is everything ok?" "Yeah, everything is ok." Nikki fixed her breakfast and went upstairs to Sasha.
She opened the door and went inside. "I already know mom, she called him using my phone. We talked and after he drops her off, he said we could go for a ride and talk." Nikki was worried about her and just hugged her. "You know I'm always here for you baby, if he breaks up with you, aim for the soft spots." Sasha chuckled and sniffled. "Thanks mom, but I doubt he is breaking up with me. I got the feeling he was going to tell me something important."
Raheem heard what Tatiana told Sasha and thought it was for the best. He heard wings fluttering and knew Frank landed. He walked over and sat down in front of Raheem.
They sat in silence until Raheem couldn't take it anymore. "What is it Frank?" "You tell me, you haven't called Sasha or your friends." Raheem sighed and told him about what happened in the simulation room. "Now you are scared of yourself?" Raheem nodded his head.
"Why are you scared? Do you not have faith in your control? Do you really believe you capable of hurting the ones you care for?" Raheem wanted to say with confidence that he would never hurt them and that he was always in control, but couldn't form the words.
"Tell me Raheem, what is a beast? I mean according to you, not the All-Father." Raheem stayed silent as he thought about his answer. 'What is a beast? Is it an animal? Is it an entire species? Is a beast good or bad? Does it walk on four or two legs?'
A multitude of ideas and theories shuffled through his head. He finally breathed and looked at Frank. "A beast is something that lacks a code or moral compass. They do things without limits. They do not commit crimes out of necessity but because they choose to. They are capable of controlling themselves, but instead run a mock. They have no honor or pride. They kill, steal, and destroy without any thoughts of the consequences that follows afterwards."
Frank listened to him. "So, what does that make you?" Raheem realized why is predators sense was always going off, it was going off because of him. He considered himself a danger and a threat, so his predator sense did as well. He stood up and bowed towards Frank. "Thank you for helping me, but I need to make a phone call." He ran and jumped to his room and got dressed.
Frank watched him leave on his bike. "You do realize is idea of a beast will change right?" Frank turned towards Tatiana. "I know it will, he is still a child after all, also from now on I will be giving him the life advice. You will only discuss strategy and politics with him." Frank left no room for discussion and flew away.
Raheem revved his engine outside of Sasha house. He didn't plan on taking Samantha to school, but she called before he did and asked. Sasha said it was fine to. Samantha came running outside with her backpack on. He passed her his helmet. She put it on and waved goodbye to Nikki. He drove off after waving to Sasha who was looking at him through the window.
Samantha held on tight as Raheem drove. She was having the time of her life. Raheem heard her yelling and did a wheelie for her and she yelled even louder. They reached her school and she got off the bike, the other kids was looking at her. "That was so awesome! I wish you could always drop me off." She handed him his helmet and gave him a quick hug then went inside. The kids were still looking at him, he revved his bike and did a small burnout before taking off. The kids yelled and cheered, the teachers had to make them go inside. The entire day kids went to Sasha and asked her who that was that dropped her off in the morning.
