Chapter 21 Realm

"I see you still stubbornly keep using kick-boxing as your main fight technique. Why don't you ever use the techniques I taught you?" Adramalech voiced out with a slightly offended tone.

Benjamin sighed. "You always ask that question. It is because the techniques you you taught me are just weird stances and movements. You know I like freestyle techniques."

Adramalech inwardly rolled his eyes. 'This son of mine is ignorant.' "If you haven't noticed already, you're not on Earth anymore. You're in a universe of cultivation. To fight as mortals with freestyle fighting techniques is better, yes. But the stronger you get a freestyle technique won't bring out the full potential of your accumulated power."

"Yeah, I want to know what is going on here. Before you explain all the cultivation stuff. Where am I right now?"

"Well, you remember the ring we gave you on your 18th birthday?" Ben nods. "Your mother made that. It is a legacy ring of the highest grade. It let me bound a whisp of my soul to it as the treasure spirit."

When a treasure or item is made, the higher the grade the higher the chance of it developing a treasure spirit. A treasure spirit is a treasure gaining consciousness basically. It can choose its wielder or master. Also gaining the ability to communicate with the outside world.

"This way I will be with you and keep an eye on you. But the most important reason is for me to train you into an undefeatable existence. To stand on top of the Universe. Crush anyone that stands in your way. Have so much power no one will ever question you, no one will ever dare to take first place when you claim second."

Adramalech says with so much arrogance, pride, and unwavering confidence, that Benjamin felt the flickering flame that he felt when Yggdrasil talked about challenging the heavens blazing to life, hearing the words of his father.

"Your body is being nurtured, to be in the optimal state to start cultivating, by the old tree. It will take some time. So, while we're waiting, I'll give you something to do."

A chair and desk appear inside the legacy realm. On top of the desk are laying a few books.

"You will comprehend these techniques. You're not allowed to leave this realm until you do."

Ben's brows twitch. "Do I need to comprehend it like the fighting technique you learned us when we were very young?"

"Yes."

Ben sighed. When Ben and Jane were younger they also had gotten the task to comprehend a book from their father. They were put on a chair with the book in front of them on a desk.

At first, they just browsed the book but they were reprimanded by their father. He said over and over again to 'really comprehend' the book. So, the next most logical way was to read the book in detail.

But this was also wrong. Day in day out they would just stare at the book, read it over and over, but their father said it was wrong again and again.

They couldn't leave, except to eat or sleep. One would think this is child abuse but as Demon-Angel, they could easily handle this. As demons they had much stronger bodies, as such, they could go longer without sustenance and sleep. And their Angel soul gave them such a massive boost to their souls their mental fortitude would put a monk to shame.

But even though they had their amazing bloodline and soul, they were little children after all. When Adramalech noticed Ben and Jane came to a breaking point he would give them small tips.

"Don't read it, comprehending, means to feel the aura, imprint the 'whole' book inside your mind. Feel it! Communicate with it."

And as they got a real feeling for the technique and it got imprinted into their minds, it would become even more than just a reflex. They were finally let out.

But Adramalech didn't account for the backlash of putting little children through such... torture.

Even though when Jane and Ben performed the technique they felt incredible power rushing through their bodies, due to the trauma of the method of learning the technique, they refused to use the technique.

And now, Adramalech said to Ben to redo the exact same thing.

'I don't know how to exit anyways and dad wouldn't let me do this if it wasn't good for me.'

Ben sat down behind the desk and looked through the books.

The first technique that called out to Ben is called [Divine Demon God]. Another that Ben took notice of almost immediately is [Divine Angel of Fire]. Next to them laid a book that is called [9 Tails of nothingness]. And the last [9 gates of Hell].

Ben closes his eyes and imagines his mind reaching out towards the books, imagining making connections and feeling the aura and secrets the books hold.

Contrary to the time Ben had to do this when he was little, this time Ben is overwhelmed with information. He can actually 'see' with his mind and 'feel' the aura of the books.

Ben sees a figure standing, arms crossed, looking down with disdain for everything. An arrogance, so overwhelming that even the heavens didn't dare to make its presence known. A man that wants to be the best of the best, when claiming 2nd place no one would claim 1st. An undefeatable man.

The figure had such an overwhelming presence that Ben felt like he was being crushed by a mountain. His bones creaked and his mind was just about to collapse.

Ben's eyes snap open. He is completely out of breath, he felt like he had just run a whole marathon. His mind is dizzy and he couldn't get his eyes to focus. Slowly he felt his mind slipping away into a dark abyss.

Not really sure if he hears correctly but Ben swears he can hear his father laughing uproariously in the background. But it could also have very well been the thrumming from his head.
