Thrown out of the apartment

Today was Friday and the work today at the company was very hectic. Kaiden had been running around all day and he was already tired.

Their biggest client had returned a truck load of goods that were substandard and therefore they had to take inventory. Kaiden had been instructed to take inventory, other workers were assigned with him but eventually they had left only him to do it.

He was already exhausted at this point, the only thing that gave him energy was the fact that he would receive his salary today. He couldn't wait, he would pay his rent, buy foodstuffs, buy some materials needed for his cultivation, then he would save for a new mobile phone.

"Are you working or daydreaming?" Jasper asked him as he entered the warehouse.

"Working." Kaiden replied and immediately went back to work.

"The rest left you?" Jasper asked.

"Yes, they said they had other things to attend to." Kaiden replied.

"I am sure they did." Jasper said wryly.

He held out a meal pack to Kaiden.

"Here, your lunch" he told him.

"Thanks." Kaiden said as he took the meal and started to eat.

Jasper continued working from where he had stopped.

"Oh! You don't have to sir. Once I finish eating, I will continue." Kaiden told him.

"It's okay Kai, I don't have anything else to do. And I am kind of bored." Jasper replied.

Seeing that he was insistent on working, Kaiden left him alone to continue working while he ate his food.

After eating, he joined Jasper in working. As they worked, they talked. In the few days, Kaiden had worked with Jasper, he noticed that he was very friendly and trusting. Kaiden had already decided that Jasper was going to be his ticket into the Graham family.

By the time they finished working, it was already late and it was also raining too.

"How are you going to go home? Jasper asked Kaiden.

"I will take a cab."

"It's heavily raining, you won't get a cab anywhere." Jasper told him.

"then I will wait for the rain to stop."

"Don't be silly, how long are you going to wait? Come on, I will give you a ride home."

"But my house isn't on your way home." Kaiden protested.

"I don't mind, let's go." Jasper said as he pulled him along.

Jasper drove Kaiden home following the instructions Kaiden gave him.

When he got there, he stopped the car and looked around.

"This is where you stay?" he asked Kaiden doubtfully.

"Yes sir. Thanks for the drive home." Kaiden said and opened the car door.

As he was about to rush into the house, he paused, his luggage was outside in the rain.

The landlord came outside, an umbrella in his hand. "Finally, you are home, you can take your things and leave." he told Kaiden.

"Why are you doing this?" Kaiden asked.

"You didn't pay me my rent money."

"But i said I would pay today."

"Well someone else came and gave me a price higher, I had to give the apartment to him. Don't blame me, it's just business."

Kaiden was troubled, where would he spend the night. He had no friends or relatives, he could stay with.

"is everything okay Kai?" he heard Jasper ask as he approached them.

"You are still here?" he asked him.

"Yes, I was about to leave then I noticed you were still outside. What's going on?"

"My landlord here threw my things outside and gave my apartment to someone else." Kaiden told him.

"Were you owing him rent?"

"yes but he agreed that I would pay him today and I was going to pay today but then he already gave someone the apartment."

"Sorry buddy, it's just business." the landlord said with a nonchalant shrug.

"Are these all his things?" Jasper asked the landlord.

"Yes, he didn't have anything worth stealing anyway." the landlord answered.

Kaiden was already shivering from the cold rain. "Come on Kai, let's leave the rain." Jasper said and bent down to pick up the luggage.

"Bye boys." the landlord said as he waved them goodbye.

Jasper put the luggage in the boot and they entered the car. He turned on the heater so Kaiden could get warm.

"I am really sorry to bother you like this." Kaiden told Jasper.

"It's okay, I don't mind. Do you have anywhere to go?" Jasper asked.

Kaiden shook his head. Jasper turned on the car, "it's settled then, you will stay with me till you get a place."

"But i couldn't impose on you like that." Kaiden protested.

"Do you have any other options?"

"No."

"Then it's settled, you will stay with me, okay?"

"Okay." Kaiden replied.

Jasper drove to his home, Kaiden kept quiet during the ride. In a way this was a good idea, he had wanted to get closer to Jasper, staying in the same house would make them closer. But a niggling thought disturbed him, why did Jasper keep helping him?

Soon Jasper stopped in front of a gate. He rolled down the car windows and horned.

"Password?" an automated voice asked.

"Jasper." he replied.

The gate opened immediately, Kaiden looked at him in shock.

"Why are you staring?" Jasper asked him.

"Why would your password be your name?" Kaiden asked.

"It's easy to remember, I am not that good with passwords." Jasper explained.

"Still it should be something hard to guess, not your name. Haven't you be robbed before?"

"nope. Why would anyone want to rob me?" Jasper asked as he drove inside the compound.

"Seriously, suggest one password I could use that would be hard to guess." Jasper asked him.

"Maybe the name of your first pet? First crush? Something like that."

"Well I will think about it." Jasper told him.

He opened his car door and came out of the car, Kaiden also came out as well.

"Well welcome to my home." Jasper told him.

Kaiden looked around, well Jasper's home wasn't quite what he was expecting. It was a small bungalow surrounded by a lot of trees and flowers. He had been expecting a mansion after all Jasper was the head of the production unit.

"Well what do you think?" Jasper asked him.

"I think it's lovely." Kaiden replied.
