Attracted to men?

"Thanks, I inherited it from my dad. My brother didn't want it because he felt it was too small but I loved it." Jasper told Kaiden.

"It's small and cozy." Kaiden remarked.

"it is, we only spent one summer here growing up then we got our beach house and my mom didn't want to come here anymore. But I have always loved it here." Jasper said and then he noticed that Kaiden was shivering from the cold.

"Go inside, I will bring your luggage inside." he told him.

"I can carry it." Kaiden insisted.

"Just go inside, you are shivering" Jasper told him.

"but...."

"Stop arguing and go inside before you fall sick." Jasper told him.

Kaiden gave up and went into the house. He wrapped his arms around himself and shivered. He was already cold.

Jasper entered inside and switched on the lights. Kaiden looked around, the furniture was simple and well placed. The atmosphere was cozy.

"So come on, let me show you the room." Jasper told him, he gestured for Kaiden to follow him.

Kaiden followed him to a room, "this is my room but you can share it with me." Jasper told him.

"I can sleep in the living room." Kaiden immediately said.

"Don't be silly, the room is big enough for the both of us. And the bed is also big. Now, go and take a shower." Jasper replied and pointed him towards the bathroom.

Kaiden sighed and gave up on arguing. Jasper seemed to have mastered the art of getting him to agree to anything he said.

He walked to the bathroom where he took off his clothes, he set the shower to hot water and took a steaming hot shower.

While he was in the shower, his mind wandered as he thought about the current situation.

He was in Jasper's house, over the week as he had worked with Jasper, he hadn't seen any interaction between him and Jonathan. But then again, that was to be expected, growing up Jonathan hadn't paid much attention to Jasper either. Kaiden had even tried to bring up his name in casual conversation but Jasper hadn't said anything.

Should he just stay with Jasper? He could save money on rent. But then again, what if Jasper got to know about his secret and past.

Kaiden turned off the shower, there was no need to disturb himself with such thoughts. After a long night sleep, his mind would be clearer and he would know what to do.

He wrapped a towel around his waist and came out of the bathroom. Jasper had left some clothes on the bed for him to change into.

He wore the clothes, he and Jasper were the same size so the clothes fit him well. He spotted his luggage in the corner, he opened it, thank goodness the luggage was waterproof, none of them were wet.

All of his belongings were intact, at least the landlord wasn't a thief.

Jasper entered the room. "Do the clothes fit?" he asked Kaiden.

"Yes, it does. Thanks a lot."

"it's okay, are all your things intact?" he asked Kaiden.

"Yes, the landlord may be greedy but he isn't a thief."

"I made dinner, come and eat." he told him.

"Thanks." Kaiden said and stood up to follow him to the living room.

When they got there, Kaiden stared at the food on the table in wonder.

"Did you just make all this?" he asked him.

"Uhm I made some but the rest were refrigerated."

Kaiden looked at him curiously, "Do you treat all your employees this way?" he asked him.

"No, just the cute ones." Jasper replied as he sat down.

Kaiden was dumbstruck by what he had just said. Did Jasper mean that he was cute? Was he overthinking it?

"Kai, sit down." Jasper patted the space close to him. Kai gulped nervously and sat down.

"Start eating." he told him. Kaiden nodded and started eating.

They finished eating and Kai insisted on packing the dishes and washing them.

"You didn't have to wash it." Jasper told him.

"You cooked the meal, I can't let you wash the dishes." Kai replied.

Jasper walked close to him where he stood by the sink. He peered at his face, "Do you really not see without your glasses?" he asked him.

"Yes, I can't see too well."

"I wonder what you look like without them" he said as he moved even closer to him.

Kaiden gulped nervously at Jasper's proximity. Jasper hands moved up to his face, his fingers stroked the corners of Kaiden's face as he took off his glasses.

Kaiden was nervous, what if Jasper recognized him?

"you look beautiful." Jasper whispered to him.

"I do?" Kaiden asked.

"You do." Jasper replied. Their faces were so close to each other.

Kaiden had never noticed how pretty Jasper's eyes were.

Jasper's phone rang and they sprung apart, he picked the call. "Hello mum." he said, he handed Kaiden his glasses and walked away to receive his call.

Kaiden laid a hand on his chest to calm his beating heart. What had just happened? He wasn't attracted to men, was he? He had always liked women, he had been in love with Gwen hadn't he?

Jasper sat down on a bench and listened to his mother.

"Make sure you dress appropriately for the wedding tomorrow. A lot of important people are going to be there." she said.

"Yes mother."

"And be there early, I don't know why you refused to be the best man."

"You know my thoughts on the wedding." Jasper said.

"Well keep your thoughts to yourself, Gwen and Jonathan are in love and that's all that matters." His mother said in a harsh tone.

"They used their love to betray someone innocent and inflict pain."

"Jasper! That's enough of your nonsense babbling, be there early and well dressed, understood?"

"Yes mother." he replied.

She hung up the phone call. Jasper sighed, why did everything have to be so complicated.
