Chapter 23, Nox Clan

"She is my maid, her name is Lyra, I have already told you about the Nox Clan, right?" said my mother with a smile.

"Well, yes you told me some things about them" I replied confused as to what brought on one of the most dreadful clans of dragon races into the conversation.

NOX, This is a word that meant night or darkness.

The Nox clan is made of shadow dragons or other variants of shadow dragons that have control over darkness and shadows.

They are to be considered one of the most dreadful clans of the dragon race because they specialize in multiple things which of course related to their lineage as shadow dragons, they are specialized in assassination, espionage, collecting information on important figures of the other races, infiltrate houses to collect private information or maybe even eliminate entire clans or houses that may pose any threat to the Royal clan, whether they are dragons or other races, as long as they pose any threat, they got eliminated before they can make any waves.

This is the job of the Nox Clan, they are a clan that is under the complete control of the Royalty of the Dragon race, they only serve the words of the King/Queen that govern the dragons at the time, they don't serve the princes or princess of the Royal clan unless ordered to do so by the King or the Queen.

The Royal Clans of this Universe don't have complete control over their races, they are considered Royal clans either because they originated from the progenitor of their race or because they are the strongest clan with the strongest bloodline.

Of course, that doesn't mean that there aren't any clans who swore loyalty to the Royal clan of their race, as that grants them protection, political power, and resources if they did useful deeds that benefit their race or the Royal clan.

That's why clans like the Nox clan exist to act as the silent reaper for the Royal clans to clean anything that the Royal clans deems as a threat or a potential threat to the safety of their clan or race.

That is all the information that mother told me before about that clan and the clans with similar positions in the other races.

"My maid's full name is Lyra Nox, she is the current leader of the Nox clan," she said with a smile seeing my shocked expression.

How can Kevin not be shocked when the leader of a clan that is practically responsible for handling all the dirty things of their Royal clan is working as a maid, even if she is the Queen's maid, she is still a maid. He had never read anything saying something like that in the records which is the reason for his shock.

But after calming down a little and returning his expression to normal, he started to think for a moment about what his mother said and soon he arrived at a conclusion about what his mother just said and the information he has, but he decided to ask anyway.

"Does that mean?"

"You caught up fast, yes just like you thought when we reach 15 and get a maid or a butler assigned to us for Nox clan, they usually chose someone of similar age to us or close enough to grow with us until the one they serve either become King or Queen, in return, they would be the clan leader of the Nox clan and continue helping him/her at the time."

"Then what about if there is a dozen of successors for the throne like me and my sister?" asked Kevin with a raised eyebrow.

"Well, the winner becomes the king, the loser would either remain in the palace or he/she can go out on an adventure, they have many options to choose from, as for their maids/butlers they either continued their job with the Prince/Princess if allowed by the new King/Queen or they can choose to return to the clan to join on the missions ordered by the Crown," replied my mother with the same smile she had since the beginning of the conversation.

"I see, so I should be expecting a new person with me when I reach 15?"

"Yes, Lyra has been missing these past few years because she was training your new maid, now she finished her part so she returned."

"Then, who was overseeing your orders in the meanwhile?" I asked since I was slightly curious.

"Of course, there are other talented people with different professions in the Nox clan, a Clan can't function with one person only, if fate wills it, you will meet them in the future."

"Sure"

As we finished discussing this topic, Lyra came back with something for me to drink.

"Here is your drink your Highness," she said with an expressionless face.

She brought me a Sweet Bliss, apparently, it is a drink made by demons for people to enjoy as doesn't have any alcohol, even though I can drink drinks with alcohol since I can disperse its effect from my system with my energy, I thought it isn't right since I was still 11 years old child, of course, there are alcohols with higher level to make higher cultivator drunk but those are things to try on my do list in the future when I adventure alone.

After a few moments of silence, my mother said something that startled me a little,

"Right, I almost forgot, when I sensed that you are out of seclusion, I sent a message to Sylvia since she told me that Emilia was pestering her with questions about you for the last year," my mother said with a teasing smile, I could even see the mischievous glint in her eyes.

Apart from getting a little startled, nothing much changed as I don't think of Emilia in any romantic way or considered her a potential lover, as we are still too young and she in my eyes could be considered a child at best since my mental state is still way above her, I think of Emilia as a friend at best since I have known her for a while now after stating my new life here, as for potential lover or wife that is something for the future as there are a lot of things to do in this life for me to get distracted early on with love.

Sorting out my thoughts I answered her,

"So, what did she tell you after telling Emilia?" I decided to ask since I was curious.

"You are not blushing like you used to do when I teased you when you were a child, Humph," she said with a pout.
