The Three Faces of Null

"This is a story of how an entire race will be continuously played with like pieces on a chessboard by a being so powerful that stars weren't even considered a torch to him, and black holes were simply trash bins to him. How and why would anyone inquire the wrath of such a being upon themselves? Witness the struggle, the pain, and suffering they would go through to finally set themselves free from his wrath. This is my first book ever, so I would like to hear your opinions and thoughts on the novel."

36 - THE CHERISHED MEMORY 16

My senses quieted down, as if telling me I had no chance at all, as if there was no point in being prepared for battle, as if trying their best to ignore their existence.

There is an unsaid truth in this world, often untaught but only truly believed and understood through experience: a being you can't sense is not weaker than you. No, it is infinitely more powerful than you, and you could never hope to win in a fair fight.

I myself only came to know this truth in this hell. Even in the face of an elder, at least one I could sense, I could feel the vast gap in strength. How do I know this? Even I am not sure, but I do, and without a doubt, I believe it is true for all other beings as well… weird.

The observer's movement brought me back to reality as I realized she was leaving. I noticed the direction she was coming from when she approached me and the child – the IQ120 cage. Was she just passing by or did she come to inform him about his… reward? The thought made my expression darken.

'Oh, it's because of that,' Kiko thought, relieved that she wasn't the reason for his sudden change in mood.

"Don't worry, I'll try to make this as fun as possible for both of us," Kiko said, attempting to lighten the atmosphere.

"No need," I replied, feeling irritated, before turning around to retreat into my own thoughts.

"If you cooperate well, you could receive an even better reward than the one you lost!" she exclaimed.

I paused, realizing that he was now paying attention to her.

"Remember, we will be graded, and if you comply with me, then you can get what you want, and I can also pass my test. It's a win-win for both of us," he looked at me in rage.

"You and me," I wondered what was wrong with saying 'us.' His rage seemed to reduce when I corrected myself.

"So, do you want to start today or tomorrow?" I asked. "You know if we start tod-" Before I could finish speaking, he continued moving forward into his cell. I guess we start tomorrow then. I would have loved to start today.

What is wrong with this subject? This is my first time with a subject. My seniors did say that subjects could be a little aggressive at first, but they later become docile.

'Starting a day before the official starting date to work with a subject earns you a bonus. However, as I look at his back, which is getting farther away, I realize I won't be receiving that bonus,' I thought to myself.

"He is a special subject," she said, glancing at another cell a few meters away, "IQ120 cell, another special subject. Maybe they are just more aggressive. I put in a lot of effort to secure a special subject for my first-ever experiment, and I can't afford to fail this test."

Staring at the back of my partner, who is now deep in his cell, I think to myself, 'I will try to be patient and kind.' One of the seniors mentioned that it works and leads to better grades… but if it doesn't, there is always option two.'

With these thoughts in mind, she left, eagerly anticipating tomorrow.

…..

I watched it all unfold, and at this point… all I can feel is pity for the stupid idiot that is MI123.Why is this dude just so unfortunate… well he also fortunate but seriously. I can't believe he has a special subject got himself into a test with the Captors youngsters.
