Chapter 82: Discovery

"Aren’t you going to work?" she asked bluntly.

"I am going, mum, don’t worry," Daisy said, sitting up on the bed. She looked at her phone and the time was 8:30.

"OMG, I am late." She stated she was trying to walk to the bathroom when  Mrs. Louis stopped her.

"Gwen is down stairs waiting for you, It’s month end. Hasn’t your boss paid you?" Mrs. Louis inquired.

"It’s not month-end mum, tomorrow is month end, don’t worry, she will pay me." she replied.

"I want her to pay you early because I want to go to Paris for vacation." Mrs. Louis said, and Daisy weirdly stared at her.

"I haven't thought about going on vacation because I'm working for money, and you want to go on vacation." Daisy said, rolling her eyes.

"I am going, I am tired of staying at home all day, who knows, if I go out I will see a new husband." She said, and Daisy burst into laughter.

"Husband, are you for real?" she asked.

"Of course, I know how to get men, you know, unlike you, who know how to attract only broke guys," she remarked.

"How could you say that, mum?"

"It’s true, go bathe, you are late for work, and don’t forget, Gwen is waiting for you." She said, walking out of the room.

Daisy dashed into the bathroom to brush her teeth in haste. She started bathing and switched off the shower. She tied a towel and walked out of the bathroom.

She walked out of the room and opened the wardrobe. She took out a short strapless dress and put it on. She looked at her face in the mirror and packed her hair into a ponytail.

"I wonder if I should just leave it down." She muttered and grabbed her bag from the wardrobe and started walking out of the room.

She walked to the living room and saw Gwen sitting on the couch.

"What are you doing here?" I thought you were going to work?" Daisy said, approaching her and Gwen stood up from the couch.

"It’s been a while since I saw you, I just came to check on you, how about we both go to work together?" Gwen suggested.

"Alright, but you will have to pay for my taxi fare, I don’t have enough cash on my right now." Daisy said as they both started walking out of the house.

Gwen stopped a taxi and they both hopped in.

"So how are things going between you and your fiance? Have you guys decided the date of the wedding yet?" Daisy inquired.

"No, but, we are making preparations, what about you and Chris?" she added.

"I know you must talk about Chris." Daisy remarked, rolling her eyes.

"We are just having fun, he hasn’t talked about marriage yet, but I know he is thinking about it," Daisy replied.

"Okay," Gwen said, and Gwen rested her head on the seat of the car and looked outside the window when she saw her boyfriend.  He was hugging a girl on the side of the road......
