An Unexpected Invitation

Hazel  (POV)

I was finishing up the song that I choose to sing today, before I had to go back into the kitchen and check to make sure the sweetcorn and cheese have frozen  to make next batch of cheese corn sandwiches .

As I finished the song and stepped off the little stage to the song of clapping

I smiled and bowed my head in appreciation  and hurried to the kitchen to escape the stares of the patrons in the cafe.

I went and checked frozen cheese and sweetcorn "perfect" I said to myself

I spread mayonnaise over bread then put sweetcorn and cheese and mashed it with another slice of bread  I heard my name is been called

"Hey Alice would mind heating this sandwiches" I asked politely to nice middle aged woman,

"Absolutely hun anything for you " she said smiling. Alice is always nice to everybody and so reliable when you need ,with the help of Alice was able to make sandwiches in no time,  I thanked Alice for her help and walk out to front to see Claire waving me .

"Your singing was beautiful as always "

She says as she pulls me into tight hug

I heard someone laugh. I turned to see a man  he was tall ,lean and broad shoulderd with blond hair .

" Stop harassing him Claire " he says laughing . Claire scoffs at the silly attempt of humour

"Andrew he's Hazel who I was talking about " he nodded

"Hazel meet Andrew Parker he's my childhood friend he was asking for  you "

I was bit confused

" Nice to meet you Mr Andrew , how can I help you "

Andrew

"Hazel , Just call me Andrew  "

" I wanted you to perform in my wedding reception "

Is he serious

"I've  never sang outside of cafe , what if I messed it up ."

He was smiling

"Don't worry about it, I had a band set up they will help you they just needed a singer because the band singer has fallen ill so can't able to sing so I wanted you to perform"

I was still nervous

"O- Okay just tell me date and location"

Andrew

"It's Tommrow  the location is Hotel Grey Inn"

Claire

"Don't worry about location you can come  with me "

"Thanks  Claire" I Agreed with her

Andrew

"Alright see you guys there "

I reached  my house  Mom  was cooking dinner dad was helping her ,I tried quietly go to my room

Dad saw me shit

" Again late "

"I'm sorry dad,  I've tried to leave early but missed the bus so i had to wait for another one "

Dad

"YOU know streets are not safe  around night and yet you are  late "

I looked at my toes

" I'm sorry dad "

Dad

"Now go before your mom sees  you and  get downstairs  for dinner in 10 mins "

My dad may be a bit strict but my mom is on another level if she had seen me in place of dad she'll make me quit my part-time job in cafe .

I freshed up and go downstairs and saw mom and dad talking I sat on table . As we are in silence  .

I don't know if my parents will allow me to go  . Tomorrow I'll talk about it

I need to convince my dad first .
