Chapter 2

Charleston Cove was the destination and John with Sasha by his side were the inhabitants about to dig deep into the sand to search for buried treasure. The story goes, in the sixteenth century, an elusive pirate that was feared by all crashed his ship at full speed into the beach. Charleston Cove was invisible to the naked eye as it was a foot below the surface of the sea.

During the crash, Edgar the Enraged went down with the ship as the sea pulled it back in and swallowed it whole. Edgar made it to safety with his trusty parrot Sherlock perched on his shoulder, "Ehhh, water! Ehhh, crash!" Sherlock liked to talk a lot.

John told Sasha the story as they approached the Cove. Believe it or not, it was a true story. No one is sure about Sherlock the parrot, but the rest is historic fact.

Sasha's brain ran laps around the inside of her head, "We have to find that treasure dad! We'll be rich and famous!"

With a chuckle john replied, "Get ready kid, it's going to be hard but maybe we'll find it."

Pulling into the vacant parking lot, John handed Sasha a fresh piece of paper with a map of the area on it. The map showed a thick gothic style X in red positioned right near the edge of the water and sand.

Sasha analyzed the paper, "Can I have a pen Daddy?"

Looking around the car, "Sure my dear."

Tracing a straight line with her hand, Sasha marked two points on the map, both were in conjunction with red X. Each mark she made was also at the joining of the water and sand.

John watched with interested eyes as Sasha marked their location in the parking lot and connected the four marks with straight lines.

Looking up to her dad, "This is it. It's right here." Sasha drew one line, north to south on the paper and circled the middle line where it intersected with the new line.

John smiled and nodded, "I think that's a good start kid. Let's do it."

They hopped out of the car to the sounds of waves crashing and trees rustling to the light breeze.

It's time to dig up some treasure.
