Chapter 1

A tall figure in spiked dark blue armor stood atop a floating piece of rock as it drifted through the Astral Sea. The gray mist drifted across the scales that formed his armor, his horned helmet that once carried a resemblance to dragons was now shattered and broken in his left hand, and in his right hand was a lance that had wing-like protrusions on one end. His long dark hair flowed softly through the empty space as blood trickled down his forehead and along the side of his face and pointed ears.

This is Vesryn Haerel, a half-elven dragoon and now the final survivor of his world. A world that was now in its final moments as it was being consumed by an ancient being from beyond. His knuckles turned white as he gripped his weapon, and his blood boiled in his veins as he raised his head to stare down the enemy before him. From a large tear in space came a gargantuan being the size of a Star with a single eye and tentacles that could easily wrap around a planet. Shuma Gorath.

The being was summoned by ignorant cultists attempting to remake the world in their image or to watch on in horror as it began to drain their world of all life bit by bit. Vesryn and his companions fought for their world's survival, bringing all they had to bear, and managed to destroy the entity. Or at least that's what they thought. The being they fought was nothing more than an insignificant avatar of the creature that was before him now on the other edge of the Astral Sea. All of their effort, all of the lives lost, rendered meaningless. And now he stood alone, his survival owed only to his friends' sacrifice.

Vesryn released his helmet, allowing the broken helm to float away on what remained of the astral winds as he pulled a glass vial from his belt. Inside was a golden liquid that appeared to have stars floating within. The Blood of Bahamut, it was said when Bahamut created their universe he used his blood as the core of every plane. Vesryn and his companions had traveled the entirety of the world collecting the blood, purifying and condensing it in hopes that they could restore what was lost. But now there was nothing left to restore. Vesryn stared at the vial as his reflection stared back, his blue eyes filled with countless emotions. At that moment he felt a dark voice echo through the space around him and into his mind.

"GiVe iT To Me. I WiLl gIvE YoU EteRniTy."

Vesryn looked back up at the horrific entity before him as he held the vial in front of his face.

"You want this? You want me to give this to you?" Vesryn asked as he placed his thumb on the stopper.

"Well…Fuck. You." He growled as he flicked the stopper off the vial and pressed the vial to his lips. He felt the golden liquid flow effortlessly down his throat as the horrific voice screamed out in anger.

"NOOOOOOOOOO!" Vesryn couldn't help but crack a smile as he listened to the rage in the being's voice even as he saw one of the tentacles lashing out in his direction. But suddenly at that moment, everything froze. The smile faded from his face as all he could hear was his own heartbeat before pain erupted all throughout his body. It was like was tearing through his veins instead of blood. Vesryn dropped to one knee as he shattered the vial in his left hand while attempting to hold himself steady using his lance.

"AAAAARGH!" Vesryn screamed out in agony before his voice was cut short as though all air left his lungs. His once dark hair turned to a platinum blonde, platinum-colored scales faded into existence covering the back and sides of his neck, and his brown eyes turned violet as his pupils narrowed into vertical slits all while his skin tore open all over his body and pure destructive energy lashed out at his surroundings. Vesryn raised his head and watched as the tentacle that had crossed the entirety of the astral sea in the blink of an eye was now barely moving at all.

All that filled his mind at this moment was this new overwhelming sense of power and unbridled rage. His eyes locked onto the creature as his leg muscles tensed and with just a slight push he vanished. In that same instant, all of the surrounding rubble turned to dust as the tip of the massive tentacle was suddenly severed as though a giant blade had sliced clean through it. Bolts of pure destructive energy fired off uncontrollably into the surroundings, each one exploding like a detonating star and reducing everything in its vicinity to ash. The violent missiles bombarded the gargantuan creature rocking it back and forth as it roared out in pain. Its skin became more and more scorched with every explosion as it constantly regenerated from the damage done. The damage was slowly beginning to outpace the rate at which it was healing.

The malevolent entity lashed out with its tentacles, rending the space of the Astral Sea and exposing it to the dark emptiness of the void as it attempted to attack the flaming figure that was constantly bouncing back and forth through the air. Vesryn tore through the air, destructive magic being fired from cracks in his skin with every single motion. Deafening sounds like those of thunderclaps echoed through the mists of the Astral Sea as the air detonated beneath his feet the overflowing magic in his body allowed him to change his direction with destructive force. Vesryn pierced through the air, his lance held outstretched ahead of him as he pierced through the gargantuan body over and over. Cracks began to add up along the length of his weapon as he pushed his foe back through the dark portal from which he appeared.

All sounds faded away as the two beings emerged into the vast darkness of the void. Countless dark and barren planetary bodies floated silently within the dark realm, each one left shattered and decaying. Shockwaves rippled through the darkness as Shuma Gorath lashed out with his tentacles in an attempt to swat away the small figure. Vesryn launched himself over and over from the dead planets as he unleashed an unending barrage of devastating strikes against his foe. Nothing seemed to be able to deter his assault. The lack of air appeared to have no effect on his slowly deteriorating body as he continued to kick off of the countless nearby planets, every jump shattering another broken planet. His expression was one of berserk rage, screaming endlessly and silently into the cold abyss.

The two beings clashed again and again as tentacles lashed out only for Vesryn to turn them into footholds for him to readjust his trajectory. Little by little his body continued to break down as his skin and armor slowly turned to ash. All pain was absent from his mind as all that occupied it was the sole desire, a determination to make the eldritch entity suffer for all it has destroyed. Even in death, he was resolved to make his enemy pay. Vesryn twirled the lance in his hand as he flipped over an incoming tentacle before pushing off of it and launching himself up towards a nearby moon that was split in half. Landing in a crouched position on the underside of the broken moon he turned his head towards the gargantuan mass of tentacles as his violet eyes locked with the single pink eye of the monster. His cat-like pupils narrowed even further as he tightened his grip on his lance and his muscles tensed once more. A violet aura of power wrapped around his body that seemed to take the form of a winged serpentine dragon. In the blink of an eye, Vesryn vanished from his position as seconds later a crater erupted on the surface of the broken moon causing it to disintegrate.

Vesryn pierced through the darkness like a meteor, cracks appearing all over his body, armor and weapon as he pushed his lance forward. A visible shockwave rippled out as he slammed lance first into the star-sized eye causing all of the nearby moons and planets to shatter and crumble away.

"ENOUGH!" The rage and pain-filled voice echoed through his mind as a wave of power launched Vesryn far into the distance. Vesryn shook his head as he attempted to clear the piercing headache from his mind before he opened his eyes to see a massive tentacle whipping in his direction. Unfortunately with the pain racking his mind, he was only able to raise his lance in front of him in an attempt to defend himself. With the force of an exploding star, the tentacle smashed into his hastily formed defense, shattering his lance before striking him in the chest and launching him even further away. Vesryn felt every bone in his chest break as he smashed through a planet and continued on his current trajectory. All strength began to fade from his body as he looked on from a distance at the distant figure of Shuma Gorath lashing wildly at his surroundings with one tentacle covering his eye. Vesryn's sight began to blur as he watched on in silence as his body slowly turned to ash, no longer able to contain the power of the Blood of Bahamut. He felt his consciousness beginning to slip but in those final moments he saw a glowing light in the distance drawing ever closer as a deep voice echoed in his heart.

"Poor child of mine. Where you are going is beyond my reach. But know this. To you, I give my blessing. Be reborn, blood of my blood, may you have the strength to carve your own destiny."

{A/N: New work. This time I'm actually going to plan things out more instead of just winging it. This novel is going to explore the more mystical side of Marvel in addition to the wider world of Harry Potter.

I'll post a picture of what the MC looks like as an adult here.}
