Diving for Myths

When we came to the Bay the water was dirty and hard to see through. They had bought a boat to get into the middle of the lake.

We all loaded into the boat. We talked and learned more about each other, but I knew after this I was never going to see them again, and I didn't want to be to attached to them when we left.

When we reached the middle of the bay, Caden and Jess started pulling out diving suits and gear to see under the water.

Brooke didn't look so great, so I decided to go over and talk to her, keep her calm.

"Hey, Brooke, you doing okay?" I asked as I approached where she was leaning over the boat.

"No. I've never liked going in the water for the exact reason we're here," She answered looking even more nervous then before.

They started to pass us around our gear, and when it came to Brooke, she just stared at Caden's outstretched hand.

"Aren't you going to take it?" He said, wiggling the gear out to her. She was about to answer but I interrupted her with,

"Brooke isn't feeling all that up to this. It's probably all the flying," I said, looking to her, she gave me a weak smile, "I think it would be best if she sat this one out. I can look in two places if you need me too."

Caden looked skeptical, but in the end he didn't really seem to care who did it, as long as they did. "Fine." He laid her gear next to her.

"Thank you," She said to me.

"Your welcome. I'm sorry though, I can't do that for you every time. Next time they ask us to dive, I'll help ease you into it. We will both help look in each others sections."

She gave a quick nod, then walked to sit and look out at where we were going to jump into the waters.

I smiled to her, then started down to the diving pad. I put all the clothing parts of it on, and fastened my regulator to myself. Caden attached the scuba tank to my back, and hooked everything up correctly, also making sure I put it on right. I think I was kinda excited for this. It was the first time I'd ever gone scuba diving.

"Everybody's ready," Caden said. I looked at each of the guys, also all suited up. They were all much taller than me, even Brooke. Although, I was quite short.

I honestly didn't expect anything from this dive. We'll go down, check our sections, come up with nothing, and go to the next place. I feel it will be very repetitive.

"You can go in now," Jess said blankly.

I went to the ladder, and started climbing down it into the waters. There were too ladders, and I saw one of the guys climbing down the other. I couldn't tell who.

I reached the water, and a wave of nervousness came over me. What if there was actually something here? I pushed that thought from my brain, and let go of the ladder, going into the mucky depths of the bay. The water was cold and I could only see a couple feet in front of me.

I started to descend further into the murky bay.
