GAMBLING

"You are playing WHOT in school when you are supposed to be in class reading or at the library or doing something beneficial and you are here playing WHOT, this is unbelievable," Shelly said. "Now recede to class before I report you guys to the principal" John shouted and they ran back to class.

"That's more like it," Shelly said and they walked back to class. When they got back to class they both sat down. "I wonder what those boys were playing WHOT for in a school if I catch them again," Shelly said. "Why must you always be like this" John said.

"See Mr man, if you don't have anything to say please keep it. The only reason why I'm here following you is that I'm the assistant class prefect, I still despise you" she told him to his face. "That's your concern" he answered and Shelly looked at him in surprise. She remembered that he told her that he would stop begging her.

Those sets of students kept missing class throughout that week. Shelly and John could not find them because they constantly changed location.

The following Monday, they decided to find the root cause of the problem before informing the principal.

That day Shelly and John monitored them and watched their movement closely, they saw one of the boys Lucas, heading towards the direction of the school field and they followed him behind. "John stop stepping on me" Shelly mumbled. "I'm sorry it's not my fault we have to follow Lucas to find their hideout," John said.

As they were busy arguing, Lucas sited them and changed direction, when they looked at their front he was gone. "Oh, Jesus you caused all of these" Shelly told John. "Me, how did I, never mind," he said. A teacher sited them and called them. "I think we are in trouble," she said and they went.

"Aren't you guys supposed to be in class? What are you doing here?" the teacher inquired. "Er, we were going to the library" she answered in fear. "But this is not the way to the library," the teacher said. "Er, she lost her money so we are looking for it," John said. "Both of you follow me," the teacher said.

They didn't want to say anything until after they found out what the boys were up to. The teacher took them to the staff room and gave them work to do. He gave them papers to go to the computer lab to photocopy it and they were relieved he did not give them any punishment.

When they were through, they went back to class and sat down. "Now that they know we are monitoring their movements, they won't give us the chance to catch them," Shelly said. "We'll come up with another plan very soon, don't worry yourself" John answered.

Shelly went to meet Rita and told her all that was going on so that she can also keep an eye on them. She agreed to do it because she knew they were also monitoring Shelly and John.

They were at the cafeteria on Wednesday, Shelly looked bothered and John looked restless because they were not able to find out what the boys were up to. "Where is Rita" Shelly asked, Peter. "Um, I don't know, she said she was coming" he answered. "And why do you guys look restless," Peter asked. Shelly told him that it was nothing, that they were just stressed out.

"Do you guys know what's recently going on in our class?" Peter asked. "Yep, what more, students are no longer staying in class" Shelly answered looking depressed. " you may be right but you are not right, what is recently going on is gambling," Peter said.

"What! gambling," John said spilling his drink from his mouth. "John that's so nasty, thank God it didn't stain me, you would have washed my wear for me," Shelly said. "I would be glad to" he answered.

"Focus guys, gambling is what is going on, they would set money and after they finish playing the game, the winner would collect all the money," Peter said. "What is the name of the game," Shelly asked curiously. "Oh, WHOT is the name of the game," he said.

"Now I see why those boys were playing WHOT, they were gambling. This must get to the principal" Shelly declared. "You know them," Peter asked. "Yes, John and I found them playing the game but we did not know they were gambling" she answered.

"How did you know they were gambling and how are you so sure," John asked. "A friend of mine is close to one of the boys Lucas and he told me everything" Peter answered. "We must act instantly," Shelly said standing up. "Hold on girl, what proof do you have, we have to catch them first," Peter said and she sat down.

They were still discussing and Rita ran to meet them and asked them to quickly follow her, they all did but did not know what was going on. She took them to the back of a senior class and showed them that she found their hideout. They hid behind a bush, "how did you know they were here" Peter asked.

"When Shelly told me to keep an eye on them, I did. When they saw that everyone has gone to the cafeteria they walked freely" Rita said. "So this is what you have been doing that we were looking for you," Peter said. "Rita, this is unlike you, you would always complain if for example your lunchtime was taken away from you," Shelly said.

"I felt like helping out, so this is the least I could do" Rita answered. They were quietly watching them as they gambled and hid properly. "Hay, what are you doing here" Shelly heard a voice whisper in her ear.

She wanted to shout but the person held her mouth and everyone turned it was Christian. "You scared me," Shelly said hitting him in the head. "Ouch, that hurts, sorry if I scared you," he said and both of them laughed.

"Hi everyone, what are you doing here hiding," Christian said. Everyone responded except John who looked at him and hissed. "We are trying to catch some of my classmate who is gambling," Peter said.

"Wait, I know you," Christian said looking at John. "Me, I'm everywhere in this school and always with Shelly, so you should know me" he answered. "No not from school, you were there that day I met Shelly at the restaurant and another girl was with you," he said.

"Thanks for reminding me, that was my sister with me" he answered. "Well I have already admitted guilt for what I did and she forgave me," Christian said. "I don't even know why I'm even talking to you," he said.

"Stop fighting guys, we have a serious issue at hand. You two should focus on that and stop arguing about what has passed" Shelly said.

They watched them for a while and they went to meet them and surrounded them. "Anthony, I can't believe you are part of this" John said. They all bow their heads in shame and they were taken to the principal. They were punished and warn never to do such a thing again.

They all went to class, Shelly was searching through her bag but her money was missing. "John, did you see my money," she asked. "No, I didn't see it," he said. She checked again but could not find it.
