Finding Gwen

"Who else but his woman."

This was definitely not what I have in mind.

"Seph, Miya, Laura, let me introduce you to Scarlett."

I spoke as quickly as I can to try and divert their attention away from what Scarlett said, but it didn't seem to work as all three of them stood there with their arms crossed.

I knew Laura and Seph would be upset, but I didn't think Miya would be too. She was always supportive about anything I do… well thinking about it I just got another girl to cheat on her with…

Maybe I do deserve what's coming.

"So you went off, without even thinking about where you're heading, left us here, and found another woman?"

Seph finally said something and her summary was on point, I doubt I can somewhat come up with an excuse for myself after hearing what she said.

There's nothing I can do except listen to what they have to say and just accept everything they do to me.

"Yes…"

I hung my head low a despondent look on my face. Gwen reacted negatively to my expression and immediately jumped toward me. Her soft body pressed against mine.

"Gwen?"

"Luke don't be sad! I don't like it when you're sad. And I don't think it's bad to have another woman. That just means you saved her didn't you?"

Gwen looked up at me with her eyes quivering. Despite her being a cat, her behavior is more so of that of a puppy.

My eyes glided down onto her cute pouting face and my hand naturally landed on her head.

This reminded me of the time I found her in the middle of the street next to the dorm house.

It was dark as I just returned home after practice. Professor Mourn, who found me in the orphanage, vouched for me to enroll in this school. Even though I had nothing to my name he was the one who supported me and gave me everything that I need. From getting an education to having food and a place to live, I wanted to return his favor by excelling at everything my other professors gave to me. I thought that if I did, they wouldn't blame Professor Mourn for taking me in and using up college resources.

Basically throughout the whole day was doing everything that my professors would usually give to an entire class of 2 semesters.

What's worse I had to take a P.E. class that was required for every student to have. Although It took me some time to complete everything, I eventually found myself pushing through the whole day and somewhat finished the work they gave me.

When my classes finally ended I walked back to my dorm room which was farther than usual dormitories. I was exhausted and the one thing I desperately needed was sleep.

But as I walked back home, my legs shaking from exhaustion, I found a small cat huddled up in a small cardboard box next to the trash bin.

Its fur was white but was covered in soot and dirt making it appear more like a tabby. Even though I wasn't really close to it yet, I can already see its ribs poking through, telling me that it hadn't eaten for days.

I looked around to check if its mother could be nearby, but unfortunately, its mother was nowhere to be found.

At the time I was only 13 years old. I wasn't really close with Yoimiya at all and I had my birthday all by myself. And going through the day I had, taking care of something other than myself should be the last thing I do.

But finding her, alone and starved, It took me no time to take her in with me.

Despite the rules against owning pets in the dorm, I kept her with me.

I brought her to my room. I looked around as I walked toward my bed. The room was at least 12 by 20 feet in size. There was a small table with a lamp for me to study and do homework on and a small bathroom with a bathtub and a toilet inside. It wasn't much, but it was enough for me to live comfortably.

Although Professor Mourn tried to get me a better place to live, as an orphan with no backing, the college didn't want to spend any more resources than what they were already spending.

This is a privileged school, after all, everyone who attends this school is capable of being valedictorian in any other school.

I appreciated what he did for me, but I was satisfied to be able to attend a school like this without doing anything.

I let out a deep sigh as I carried the sleeping cat in my arms to the bathroom.

At that point, I was just as dirty and stinky as her.

"Meow?"

The small cat woke up from its sleep in my arms and let out a cute yelp while looking at me.

My hand naturally fell on top of its head as it purred from my caresses.

"I understand how you feel… being alone and-"

"Hungry haha."

"Mew!"

Its eyes squinted and nodded its head seemingly understanding my words.

I let out another chuckle before going inside the bathtub and taking a bath alongside it. It took me a while to scrub everything out of its fur due to it squirming around. But the end was worth it as its dirty fur turned white and golden. Afterward, I quickly washed myself and got out with the little ball of wet fur.

The little cat immediately started shivering upon leaving the tub. I grabbed an extra towel under the sink and started rubbing her gently to dry off her fur. During the process, I found out the little cat was a she, all that time I thought it was a boy due to how it acted, but turns out she isn't.

After being done drying her and myself I headed into a small kitchen to cook up something for me to eat. I looked at the small cat exploring the new unfound place she was in and despite hating my relentless scrubbing, she seemed to be grateful for how clean she is.

I couldn't help but smile at how animated the little cat was. The way she would move and pounce around felt human almost, but that thought was quickly removed from my head. I mean a human cat? This day must be getting to me.

Recollecting myself, I quickly prepped up something for both of us to eat. Professor Mourn gave me some allowance to use, it's not much, but it's enough for me to live on my own. This is another thing to be grateful for, apparently, he funded this with his own money.

I really owe a lot to him, without him I wouldn't be given an opportunity like this.

Shaking my head I turned to my desk as I ate the simple meal I made.

I cooked up some eggs for myself and gave the cat some canned tuna.

"Mew! Mew meew~"

Seeing her satisfied and eating well, I couldn't help but smile and feel happy that I found someone to be with.

After we were done eating exhaustion finally came as I dragged my body on my bed.

The little kitty jumped on top of my chest as it laid its head on my neck.

The warmth of my body seemed to relax and comfort her so I let her be.

"Hmm, I wonder what I should call you?"

"Mew?"

"How about Tiddy?"

Smack*

"Okay okay sorry, haha. Hmm, what about-"

I looked at some of the comic books I had that I bought and a name popped up in my head.

"How about Gwen?"

"Mew!!"

"You like that? Fufu, alright Gwen it is."

"Mew, mew!"

"Alright alright, take care of me as well. Good night Gwen."

"Mew~"

Our days were lively as the dorm members soon found out about her. Although a clear violation, I did my best to try and keep her with me. The dorm manager finally caved in as she also fell in love with Gwen, and Yoimiya also got closer to me and her.

Everyone also fell in love with Gwen, with how she responds and reacts to them, it was a given that they didn't fall in love sooner.

Although I named her Gwen, people called her Samantha. Apparently, some rumor came out that she was already a cat owned by someone else and that was her name.

I didn't care at all since Gwen would be living with me. Although she did go out from time to time, it didn't really bother me much due to the amount of work I had to do.

Recalling everything that I've been through with her I couldn't help but hug the woman in front of me.

"Thanks, Gwen."-Luke

"Yes, he saved me and I'm grateful for that."-Scarlett

"See! Luke is always there for anyone. So don't be mad. A happy Luke is the best Luke!"

The three women behind her had different reactions to what she said, but all in all, they seemed to agree.

"Hahh… fine. But you better explain to me about everything."-Laura

"Un, me too."-Miya

"You're always like this."-Seph

"Thanks, and I'll explain everything soon."

As Gwen wrapped her arms around mine, Scarlett leaned into my side and said.

"I'm glad…"

Before I can understand why she said that a loud growl came from behind me.

"RAWWRR!!"

"A kobold!"

"Luke behind you!"

"Shit."
