Summoning of the schools

"Seriously? Are you telling me that you don't know this?"

Ace rolled his eyes when he heard Aiden's question.

"Em... What do you mean by that?" Aiden asked as he scratched his head awkwardly.

"Sigh, forget it," Ace sighed helplessly, "For the past week, you have been asking the most stupid questions I have ever heard!"

"....."

Aiden couldn't help but be speechless at his friend's response to the question he asked. Who wants to be rebuked after asking questions? No one right?

And what is with the expression on your face? You are acting like I am a complete fool! What the hell is wrong with you?

"Anyways, I will tell you then," said Ace after a while.

"You see, the reason why there are so many people here today is because... They are from other schools. I have given you a clue. You can figure out the rest yourself," explained Ace as he pointed at some groups of students who wore a different school attire from them.

"They are from other schools? Then what are they doing here?" Aiden asked. Why would other students from other schools be here? Moreover, why would they be here if they had to do the magic Awakening ceremony?

"Oh, come on! Are you trying to tell me that you can't connect the dots?" Ace asked as he nearly fainted from frustration. Ever since the day Aiden's program failed, Aiden has been asking very.... unsensible questions. In fact, it got to a point where Ace started to suspect that Aiden was an transmigrant who had arrived in this world for the first time.

"Hey, come down... It's just questions," Aiden became speechless when he saw his friend acting like he had accidentally stepped into a pile of dog crap. However, he couldn't blame him. After all, even he would become frustrated if someone continued to ask too much question on what was deemed general knowledge.

"Sigh, I should just answer you and get along with it," Ace said, "Anyway, what do you think today is?"

"Day of the magic Awakening exams?" Aiden said.

"Good, you answer is correct," Ace nodded before continuing, "Our school is an awakening center for the other schools. Do you get it now?"

"Oh, I see. So the reason why they are here is to partake in the exams too?!" Aiden declared with full confidence and pride as if he just solved the most difficult question in the universe.

"Exactly!" Ace said as he stared at his friend speechlessly. Why do you have to act like you just solved some great question?

"But, why didn't you tell me from the start? Wait, were you waiting for me to fix the puzzle for you? Turns out you are ignorant after all," Aiden asked after a while.

"..."

Ace nearly spurted blood in anger when he heard his Aiden's words.

What do you mean about 'ignorant'? Weren't you the one acting ignorant? And why are you acting as if you are more intelligent than me?

"Forget it," knowing that Aiden would continue to anger him with his words, he decided to give in, "Let's go inside. After all, we have been standing here for a while."

"Oh?"

It was only after hearing Ace's words that Aiden realized that they have been standing at the same place for a while now.

"Em, okay," Aiden replied as he scratched his head awkwardly.

He hadn't realized that he had he had been standing at the same place. He was sure that Ace realized it but in order not to make the atmosphere awkward. However, he couldn't also be blamed. After all, he had been so involved in the conversations that he didn't realize it.

"Hey, isn't that Aiden the programmer?"

Just as they were about to leave, they heard a sarcastic voice coming from behind them.

Turning their heads to the source of the voice, they saw a group of people heading towards them with haughty looks on their faces.

The person leading them was a young teenage boy around the age of sixteen, same as Aiden and Ace. He had ...

"What do you want?" Aiden frowned when he saw the group walking towards them. Aiden was very familiar with these group of people. In fact he was very familiar with the person leading them the most.

"What? Are you angry?"

The teenager leading them snickered.

"You called me. Why did you call me?" Aiden asked impatiently. Just the starting phrase that the teenager used meant he was here to cause trouble so why would Aiden allow him to speak?

"Oh, I wanted ask you something," the teenager said, "Is it true that the precious program you were making was destroyed during the build step?"

Hearing those words Aiden couldn't help but frown.

'Just as I guessed, they are here to cause trouble,' Aiden thought.

"What is your purpose for asking that question?" Ace asked when he realized that these people were here to cause trouble.

"Did I allow you to speak?" the teenager snapped at Ace.

"I..."

Hearing the teenager's words, Ace was lost at what to say. At first he wasn't sure if these people were here to cause trouble, yet after hearing the teenager's reply, he knew that they were here to cause trouble.

"Vex, I would advise you not to insult my friend," Aiden said with a furious expression on his face.

"Insult your friend?" asked Vex.

"Yes, don't pretend as if you have no idea that he is my friend," said Aiden, "And as for your question about it being destroyed, it did get destroyed during the build process."

Right after saying this, Aiden left without saying a thing. Seeing this Vex couldn't help but grind his teeth in anger.

************

"What was with him?" Ace asked as they headed for the assembly hall.

"Hmph, I can't believe that he still that way after we've grown up," snorted Aiden.

Vex was a friend of Aiden when they were young. He shared the same inspiration and ambitions as Aiden. That is, he also wanted to be a programmer when he was young. However, Vex had a very bad attitude.

He was very proud and arrogant and wanted to always be the person who was always praised. Even so, he had the capability to backup hi claims and arrogancy. After all, he father was the principal of the school.

Yet, a few years ago, he ended up in the same class as Aiden. At first, everything was alright until the teacher started to pick up favorites. The teacher always claimed that Aiden was the best and he was the person with the most likelihood to become a programmer.

This in turn made Vex very jealous since he wasn't the one who was being praised. Since, then He had made up his mind to oppress Aiden with any opportunity that he got. At first, Aiden had no idea why he was being bullied so much.

After a while though, he realization dawned unto him. He made up his mind to ignore Vex whenever he wanted to bully. Yet, this didn't stop Vex from doing his best to bully him.

"He is probably still jealous of you," said Ace as he stared at Vex with disdain.

"You shouldn't worry about him," Aiden said before turning his attention towards their destination: The school stadium.
