Celebration

At the Shaolin temple, all the monks and Liu Kangs friends gather for his ceremony for winning the Mortal Kombat tournament. Raiden and Bo Rai Cho stand at a podium, waiting for the monk. Liu Kang, earthrealms champion shows up and starts walking towards the podium. Bo Roi Cho starts to cry hysterically and hugs Liu Kang.

"I am so proud of you!" He says through tears.

Liu Kang smiles and pats him on the back.

"Thank you, master." He tells him.

Rai Cho Let's go and starts sniffling, still crying. Liu Kang then turns to Raiden and bows his head. Raiden puts a golden medallion around his neck. Liu Kang then turns to the crowd of monks and his friends and bows. Johnny stands up and claps loudly and cheers. Everyone then turns and stares at him and he awkwardly sits back down.

That night, the monks have a celebration at the temple. Johnny, Jax, and Sonya stand around and talk.

"This party really blows." Johnny says.

"I mean they are monks, man." Jax replies.

Johnny scoffs.

"No wonder Kung Lao is such a buzzkill. Can't wait to show Liu what the world has to offer when he comes to Los Angeles."

"Stop complaining. We were invited by Liu Kang. The least you can do is act like you're having a good time." Sonya says.

"Fine. I need a drink." Johnny says.

Sonya let's out a sigh.

"So do I."

The two then notices Bo Rai Cho drinking and walk over to him.

"Hey, old man. Can we get in on that?" Johnny asks.

"Sure, go ahead. I must warn you though, it's some strong liquor." Bo Rai Cho says.

Johnny and Sonya scoff and the two drink. At that moment both their faces turn red and they start shaking. Johnny starts clearing his throat loudly and Sonya starts hitting the table.

"Would you like some too?" Bo Rai Cho asks Jax.

"Naw, I'm good."

Rai Cho shrugs and start drinking from the bottle.

Meanwhile Liu Kang stands from the balcony of the temple and smiles, watching everyone together. Kung Lao then shows up behind him.

"There you are, Liu Kang, I've been looking everywhere for you. Come on, this is your celebration." Kung Lao says.

Liu Kang turns around to his friend.

"I was just enjoying the peace for moment." Liu Kang says.

The two stand together over the balcony, looking at the night sky. Kung Lao then notices that something's off about Liu Kang.

"Something's troubling you, my friend. Is it Shao Kahn?" Kung Lao asks.

Liu Kang closes his eyes and smirks.

"I'll admit, that is overwhelming to think about, but that's not what I'm thinking about right now."

"Then what is it?"

Liu Kang sighs and turns to Kung Lao.

"During the tournament. I met this, interesting woman. She tried to kill me, and ever since then I've find myself thinking about her."

Kung Lao looks at his friend with a confused but understanding look.

"I'm just wondering what she is doing right now."

At that moment a portal from outworld opens behind them. The two prepare to fight, not knowing what's coming out. Liu Kang is then shocked when he sees Katana and Jade walk out.
