The Legend of Baldur [DROPPED]

THERE WILL BE NO HOMOPHOBIC CONTENT FOUND IN THIS FIC. IF I KNOWINGLY, OR UNKNOWINGLY DO SOMETHING CONSIDERED HOMOPHOBIC, YOU MAY FREELY TELL ME. There is a paragraph in one of those chapters, mentioning homosexuality, so those who are uncomfortable with that one paragraph may ignore this book altogether. THAT SAID, I'm not tagging this book as BL, or LGBTQ, as the whole LGBTQ community might hate me for tagging the book as such, when only one paragraph in the whole book even touches LGBTQ. Sorry for that LGBTQ people. ~~~ Summary: Rahul was an average dude, with an average job, average house, and no one to share it with. He was satisfied with his life though. So it was very much a surprise for him when he wakes up as Thor's younger twin. ~~~ This is a Self Insert fic. The MC is reborn as Baldur, the younger brother of Thor, and the story is centred mostly around him. The MC will wake up in his crib, a few days after his birth. When in the timeline will he be born? Well, glad you asked. In this AU, Baldur is the younger twin of Thor, instead of the waaayyy younger brother. For those of you who don't know, and are too lazy to Google, Baldur is the younger brother of Thor and Loki(in the mythos and the comics, he doesn't exist in MCU) by at least a few years. Also, while Thor is the son of Gaia, Baldur is the son of Frigga. He's the Norse God of Light, so beware of photon manipulation, and heat manipulation. These will be his powers, at least in the beginning. I'm fairly unimaginative, so it'll look about similar to Captain Marvel from MCU. I'm a new author, with 2 incomplete fics on ffn.net, and have suffered from writing blocks. This is my attempt at regaining my writing spirit. The updates will be, sort of slow, but I'll try to post at least one chapter per day, but please be patient if I'm late. If you need to imagine him as an actor, let's make it Liam Hemsworth, the younger brother of Chris Hemsworth. For those who like to donate money to authors, on pat.reon, I have an account, and I welcome any donations. But, just so you know, there's no benefit to the ones who donate, other than good Karma for your next great adventure. My id on pat.reon is /HelloDarkness07 Thank you!

Nidavellir: Part 2

20 days later, I am done with the transfer of Light from myself, to the Uru bricks. All 7 of them. Once 3 bricks were done with, Eitri took them away to settle, and then made a piece of armour out of it. It was a simple chest piece, covering my whole torso, and it reminded me of another piece of armour from Hindu Mythology.

The Armour Eitri made, just like the one from Mythology, belonging to Karna, was Golden in colour, had the image of a Shining Sun on the chest, along with a small Sun at the back, near the neck region.

You see, in Mahabharata, Karna [Pronounced: Ker-nah or Ker-nuh: Like ker from Parker, and Nah, nuh is obvious. The N is a hard N sound, like the first n from Lantern] is the baseborn son of Kunti [Pronounced: Koon-ti; Koon like loon from ballon, and ti, not Tea, with a soft T sound.] , the mother of 5 other sons known as Pandavas, and is abandoned by her out of shame. Unknown to the Pandavas, he's actually the oldest, and also the son of the Hindu God of the Sun. When Karna was born to Kunti, thanks to the blessings of Lord Surya, the God of the Sun, Karna was born with a Golden Armour, and a set of earrings, attached to his skin.

Together, the two accessories can stop even the most powerful of the Divine Weapons, which made Karna invincible. The Hindu God, Indra, who is also the King of Swarga, had to trick Karna into giving up the armour, for Karna to die by his younger brother, Arjuna's hands. If that ain't badass, I don't know what is.

I don't know if the Hindu pantheon exists in this Universe, but at least one piece of my past history is now again with me.

Eitri explained the armour to me that day, saying, "This armour can take anything and stay strong. Except maybe the Infinity Stones, or Gungnir." I understood that. Infinity stones are simply Cosmic Powers, while with Gungnir it will be a bit hard to explain. It's a case of "Immovable object meets the invincible weapon."

Still, as long as I stay out of Odin's wrath, I'm safe.

Seeing me nod, Eitri spoke again, "I have noticed that you spend a lot of time in the sun to absorb your Divine Energy, and improve your control over it. So I enchanted it to help you absorb radiation. But.. don't be hasty and try collecting the Infinity Stones. It'll only handle one Infinity stone, at best. It all depends on the user. The armour can change it's form to look like anything you will it to. But beware, it'll only cover your chest and back, and the strength will be halved when it's not in this form."

Again, I nodded. Damn, no wonder Dwarves don't share their secrets. If anyone could make armour like this, their monopoly over Asgard's high tier weapons is gone.

"Thank you, King Eitri. I will always treasure this. If you ever need anything, don't hesitate to call on me. I will always help you out." I promise, solemnly. This gift means more to me than he thinks, so yes, I'll keep my promise. I won't let Thanos kill off the Dwarves.

Eitri nodded to me, and shooed me away. And I spent 5 hours simply exercising, getting used to the armour, and also trying on it's uses. Thankfully, the armour was very comfortable, and not restricting beyond normal armours. It was about half an inch thick, so it was a bit bulky, but it made up for it by its invulnerability.

On the other hand, Loki had to fill 3 bricks of Uru with his magic. 2 bricks for a dagger each, and the third, to make bracers. His weapons were done by the 15th day. 12 days for the Magic Transfer, one day to cool down, and the last two days to actually make the daggers, and the bracer, and enchant them.

By what Eitri told us, the bracers will help Loki call the daggers back to himself, not unlike Mjolnir does with Thor and even be used for blocking weapons with, as they are pretty durable, being made out of Uru. They are like the ones worn by Wonder Woman. But, where Mjolnir fly's to Thor's location, Loki's daggers simply appear in Loki's hands, no matter where they are. Loki, being Loki, is bound to make a few changes to them later, but Eitri already knows that, and doesn't mind.

Once Loki's bracers and daggers were done, he left to go to Asgard, as he wanted to continue his Magic lessons from Mother.

As Eitri said, he allowed me to learn forging by watching him. Not much, but he showed me different parts of the Forging Room, how to maintain the correct amount of heat, how to actually guess the correct amount of heat. Next came theory for metallurgy, and which metals make best alloys.

He gave me a few tomes for that and the reactants, and catalysts. If you think forging is simply grunt work, you're so very naive and dumb. That's exactly what Eitri said to me.

Anyways, Eitri had called me to the Throne room, once my training was done for the day, so I freshened up, and left to the Throne room.

"Good. You're here. Come." Eitri stated as soon as I entered the room, and left, leaving me to follow along. I had gotten used to his frank nature, so did not mind much.

Once we came near the main furnace, Eitri turned to me and said, "Take off that armour." I followed without question. Because I trust him, you know. He won't do something bad to the armour, at least that much I know.

He took the armour from me, and gave it to Brokkr, who was standing near the furnace, carrying what looked like a golden spear, made of Uru. I eye the spear with glee, snap my eyes to Eitri and ask, "Is that my spear?"

"Yes. But it's not ready yet. It's simply been casted. The enchantments are yet to be added." Eitri explained calmly, disappointing me, and motioned for me to watch.

Brokkr took the armour and the spear, both of which fit in his two hands, and took it to a trolley. A flying trolley. He used the trolley to go towards the Sun. The trolley must have enchantments on it to block off heat, as within 2 minutes, Brokkr had reached the Dyson sphere rings.

I forced Light in my eyes to watch properly, as the view was getting a bit hard to see from the distance. Oh the Sun's glare didn't bother me, at all. But the distance did.

Using the Enhanced sight, I was able to see Brokkr fix the Spear and Armour into the outermost ring, right on the opening through which the fire is concentrated on the furnace.(A/N: Where Thor stood to open the star)

Once he had fixed them properly, checking a few times to make sure they aren't loose, Brokkr takes the trolley and comes back.

I turn to Eitri and ask, "To absorb the heat?"

Eitri nods and smirks at me, "Well, you have such a convenient Domain. How can I not take advantage of it to make our name even more famous?"

I shake my head at Eitri, understanding his sentiment. The more battles I win wearing the armour and spear, the more famous Eitri will become. "I get that the Armour won't melt, thanks to the enchantments, but what about the spear?" I ask Eitri.

The King of Dwarves looks at me incredulously, for a second and snorts. He says, "When I said the enchantments aren't done, it did not mean the weapon is weak. Our casts are enchanted to make sure the weapons are more durable than the metal they are made out of. The spear won't melt, don't worry little Prince."

I nod, giving him the benefit of the doubt. He's the King of Master Forgers, what do I know?

The next day, when I'm done with my morning training and breakfast, Eitri took me to my first actual lesson on forging. All the theory was memorized by me already, so according to him, I was now ready to pick up a hammer and not embarrass him as a teacher.

Eitri completely believed in the teachings of "Learning by failing to do", so he had me make a knife as my first task. I will simply say this. My simple kitchen knife came out as a butter knife that just looked like a throwing dagger.

No it's not design, I simply made too many mistakes. Well, I'll learn by doing, later.

~~~979 AD: 15 Years~~~
The rest of the year, goes by quickly enough. I spent the whole year on Nidavellir, learning to forge, and sparring with the Dwarves that guard Eitri. I even trained Sindri, the Son of Eitri, for a few hours a week.
The Dwarves are strong as a species, and have incredible arm strength. They had to have that, being Blacksmiths. So thanks to the constant sparring, and the hammering when forging, my physical strength improved beyond what it was. Before, I was just a bit weaker than Thor, when it came to Physical strength.
Now? I haven't seen Thor's strength, but I can wager that I'm a bit stronger than him. I don't know if it translates to battle strength, as Loki still kicks Thor's butt once in a while, despite being physically weakest amongst us, but we'll see.
Two months ago, I had gotten the Armour back, and the spear was taken for enchantments. The constant forging meant the sun beam was frequently turned on, whenever the furnace was to be burning, so the weapons absorbed a lot of heat, and Light Energy. Because of the presence of my Light in the Uru, the heat actually strengthened the spear beyond what it once was, according to Eitri. The same with my armour.
The armour, surprisingly, had a blueish tint to it, which I guessed was thanks to the blue flames of the Sun. I spent the month getting used to the armour again, while the next and last month of the year, was spent getting used to the spear, and working out the kinks and features of the two accessories.
Karna, which is what I named the armour, completely blocks off all the sharper attacks, absorbs the energy attacks, but only lessens the Kinetic Energy during blunt force attacks. Meaning Thor's lightning might not harm me if it hits the armour, but his hammer definitely will. Same with Hulk or Thanos's punches.
The spear meanwhile I named Ljosgeirr, which literally means Light Spear, was simply the best weapon I've seen. Excluding probably Gungnir.
Ljosgeirr was a golden spear, made completely out of Uru. Eitri had made it so that the pole of the spear was brownish gold in colour, while the tip and blade part was Silver gold in colour.
For starters, it was very highly durable, and could probably take hits from the best hammer out there, Mjolnir, and even Gungnir. Next, it could be used to call Sunlight on me, no matter what the weather is.
Imagine, where Thor calls forth Thunderclouds, I have the ability to banish them. I can make eternal summers if I wish it so, wherever I stay. And this was a really good feature of the spear, as I get a little slower at healing if I'm not under direct Sunlight.
Next was the most obvious, and one I was very excited about. It could fire beams of concentrated fire from the spear tip. The fire beams were hot enough to melt non magical Midgardian steel in a second, while Asgardian Steel took a few seconds. I haven't tried it on a living being, but I don't doubt they'll die within a few seconds of exposure.
Like Mjolnir, Ljosgeirr can be called back to me when thrown. Also similar to Mjolnir, no one other than my blood, or my genuine friends would be able to pick the spear up. There are different consequences for different types of people trying to pick it up.
If someone tries to pick it up, without any greed in their mind, they simply won't be able to pick it up. If there is simple greed, like 'That looks like it's expensive' type of greed, they will get a small burn on their hands. If they try again, the temperature increases gradually.
Now, if someone touches it with intentions of stealing it from me, or someone I trust, but if they aren't faithful to me, it'll burn so hot, that their hand will burn completely. Like that curse from Harry Potter, which Dumbledore fell to.
That said, bow down to me. I'm awesome.
A/N: For those who know Mahabharata, I hope I gave the small tale I wrote some justice, if not I'm sorry. For those who don't know the Epic, or haven't read it, read the basic story of Karna. You'll know at least what the armour does. The armour looks something like this.
If you can't copy the text, simply search "Karna armour Mahabharata" and it's the one from Quora.
Review please.
These are the weapons, and accessories I warned you about. If you have any more suggestions, please explain properly and don't simply mention character names.
The only anime I've watched are Naruto, DBZ(ALL OF IT) My Hero Academia, and Death Note. Other than that, nothing.
So instead of mentioning characters I can take example from, why not simply mention their abilities as best as you can?
Thank You!
Now, Review!!
