The Legend of Baldur [DROPPED]

THERE WILL BE NO HOMOPHOBIC CONTENT FOUND IN THIS FIC. IF I KNOWINGLY, OR UNKNOWINGLY DO SOMETHING CONSIDERED HOMOPHOBIC, YOU MAY FREELY TELL ME. There is a paragraph in one of those chapters, mentioning homosexuality, so those who are uncomfortable with that one paragraph may ignore this book altogether. THAT SAID, I'm not tagging this book as BL, or LGBTQ, as the whole LGBTQ community might hate me for tagging the book as such, when only one paragraph in the whole book even touches LGBTQ. Sorry for that LGBTQ people. ~~~ Summary: Rahul was an average dude, with an average job, average house, and no one to share it with. He was satisfied with his life though. So it was very much a surprise for him when he wakes up as Thor's younger twin. ~~~ This is a Self Insert fic. The MC is reborn as Baldur, the younger brother of Thor, and the story is centred mostly around him. The MC will wake up in his crib, a few days after his birth. When in the timeline will he be born? Well, glad you asked. In this AU, Baldur is the younger twin of Thor, instead of the waaayyy younger brother. For those of you who don't know, and are too lazy to Google, Baldur is the younger brother of Thor and Loki(in the mythos and the comics, he doesn't exist in MCU) by at least a few years. Also, while Thor is the son of Gaia, Baldur is the son of Frigga. He's the Norse God of Light, so beware of photon manipulation, and heat manipulation. These will be his powers, at least in the beginning. I'm fairly unimaginative, so it'll look about similar to Captain Marvel from MCU. I'm a new author, with 2 incomplete fics on ffn.net, and have suffered from writing blocks. This is my attempt at regaining my writing spirit. The updates will be, sort of slow, but I'll try to post at least one chapter per day, but please be patient if I'm late. If you need to imagine him as an actor, let's make it Liam Hemsworth, the younger brother of Chris Hemsworth. For those who like to donate money to authors, on pat.reon, I have an account, and I welcome any donations. But, just so you know, there's no benefit to the ones who donate, other than good Karma for your next great adventure. My id on pat.reon is /HelloDarkness07 Thank you!

Nidavellir: Part 1

A/N: Shout Out to "fatjesus1993" for giving me 3 Power Stones, "yoge" for giving me 2, and "kov9413tam", "fhjbgvd" and "Callylloyd" for giving me 1 Power Stone!

Now, anyone know what the stones actually do? Coz I know nothing about them.

978 AD:

A bright beam of light, shining with each colour of the rainbow, and more, slams down on the ground. Me, Loki and King Eitri walk out of the Bifrost beam and I look around in wonder.

We were standing in a ring surrounding a star, covered in more rings, many of those making up a big Dyson sphere. The ring we were in, was about a few hundred meter wide, and was easily more than a few kilometres in diameter. I could see how people could live here. The infamous Neutron Star, that the Dyson sphere surrounded, was a small thing. If I had to guess, it was about as big as Asgard's Royal Palace, so about a couple hundred meters. Nidavellir, was simply the outer ring we were in. It contains the living are for the Dwarves, and the forges.

The amazing thing was that the light from the Star was amazing. I could feel that it was somehow better than the Sun of Asgard. Like, it was more potent. Maybe it's depending on the elements the Star is made of. Staying here will be very much beneficial to me in controlling my Light better.

"Come. Don't dally.* Eitri says, bringing us from our wonder. Hey don't blame us! It's the first time we're anywhere other than Asgard!

"This..." Eitri waves his hands around, showing everything, and says, ".. is Nidavellir. The home to 300 of us Dwarves. We might be less, but there's no one better than making weapons of any kind, than us. Even our butter knives are superior to the most advanced blasters the damned Kree have."

We come into a spacious hall, with a big Throne, in which lounged a boy about as tall as me. Knowing that they are tall as a people, he's 7-8 at most.

"Sindri!" The boy jumps in fright and falls down at King Eitri's shout, and looks around in fear. King Eitri continues, "Show some respect, boy! We have guests!"

"Father! You came back!" the boy, Sindri, shouts, and runs to hug the King. The King hugs him back and pulls him apart with a smile. All the while I and Loki stand there awkwardly.

"Baldur, Loki! This is my son, Sindri. Son, these are Baldur and Loki, Princes of Asgard." Eitri says and forcefully pushed Sindri forward.

Sindri shyly bows down, and we bow back. Once our greetings are over, Eitri calls two guards to show us to our rooms to freshen up. Not that we need to, as the traveling only took like 10 seconds or something.

We still freshen up, change into more comfortable clothes, and meet Eitri back in the throne Room. He takes us to the forge room. It was very much hot, and Loki had started to sweat a lot. I was sweating too, but not as much as him. God of the Sun, ya know.

"This is where we will be working for as long as it takes." Eitri explains. He then gives Loki a deep look and puts his hand on Loki's head. Closing his eyes for a few seconds, he says, "Daggers. You will get daggers. Brokkr! Take him with you."

One of the dwarves, who looks quite similar to Eitri, nods at Eitri and takes Loki away to an inside room. Eitri then looks at me and puts his hand on my head. I feel his magic enter my body in a slow trickle, and take a feel for my magic, and my Light. Only a few seconds later, Eitri retracts his magic.

I shiver at the feeling. "That was weird." I say looking at him.

Eitri snorts and turns around. He motions with his hand for me to follow and says, "That was necessary. Did it look like I enjoy my magic being anywhere near other people? Now, your job, for the next month will be this." saying that he stops and drops 7 bars of a silver-gray metal in front of me.

I pick up one of the bar, barely. Holy crap this metal is heavy! This one bar weighs close to 20-25 Kgs. It doesn't sound heavy, but the weight is concentrated in about a litre of metal.

I turn to Eitri and ask, "Soo... what exactly do I have to do?"

Eitri sits down on the floor, prompting me to sit down in front of him, with the 7 bars of Uru stacked in between us. He picks up one of the bars, and says, "Take this bar in your hand, one end in each hand. Yes, like that. Now, slowly start pouring your Divine Energy in the metal. Do this for at most one hour a day. But be careful, you have to balance the energy out from both hands. Your mother says you have good control over your Divine Energy, so you'll have an easy time with it."

"Alright. I understand. So I do it one at a time, right? And why only one hour a day?" I ask, knowing, but still making sure.

Eitri nods at me and says, "Yes. And if you can handle more than an hour of constantly flooding this metal with your Divine Energy, then have at it. Don't go crying to Odin when you fail. But the metal can definitely handle it."

I look at him in hope and ask, "This is Uru, isn't it?"

Eitri snorts and simply pats my shoulder. He says, "Yes. Now get to it."

I hold the two ends of the bar in both hands, and start ti send a slow trickle of my Light in the Uru. URU! I'M HOLDING FUCKING URU!! And the Uru bar eats it all up! I look at it with my Mage sight, and see that Uru has one hell of a stomach. Goddamn, it's absorbing 100% of the Light I'm putting out. I keep my Sight on, not wanting to miss anything.

Once I'm sure I can handle more, I start increasing the amount of Light that each hand sends into the metal, and sure enough, Uru eats it up too. Once my hands start glowing from overflowing energy, I keep the rate of transfer steady and keep it steady for the remaining time.

At exactly the one hour mark, I stop, as a precaution. I know I could handle 15 more minutes at most of the transfer, so it's better to be safe.

Eitri nods at me, and says, "Good. You know your limits. Your job for the next however long it takes, will be to enter as much of your Divine Energy into this metal, as you can, for one hour each day. Every day, someone will come and bring you here, and you'll do the same as you did today. By the rate you are doing the transfer, you'll have to do this for 3 days for each bar. On the third day, the bar will start changing it's colour from this, to golden. Now, get out. Find your brother and do something productive."

I bow at Eitri in gratitude, and go out of the forging area. Loki comes out of the room he had gone into, at the same time as me, so we leave to go to our room.

Turns out, he was asked to send his magic into Uru, but he was asked to take it slow. Understandable. I have a sun to recharge myself, while Loki recharges by resting. He doesn't exactly have Divine Energy. Only his magic has taken a Divine shade, is what I could best explain it as.

After training in hand to hand combat for a while, all of which were won by yours truly, I leave Loki to read, and check out the rest of the realm. There are a lot of places which are non-residential. The forge is one of them, and the maintenance room is another.

One such place, near the forge has a huge stack of broken stuff. A junkyard. Nidavellir has a junkyard. Fucking hell.

These junks are probably more expensive than Gold. I'll ignore it, as a Prince, dumpster diving is far beneath me. But those bracelets do look pretty rad.

Nope, ignore it. I'll make one for me myself.

I spend the remaining day basking in the blue star's light, absorbing Light Energy, and training in my control, along with a few hours of watching the dwarves work. They are secretive when it comes to their enchantments, but watching them hammer the weapons, or even carving common runes, is allowed for outsiders. Especially, the Princes of their Protector realm.

The next day, once I have transferred the Light to the first bar again, I go and find Eitri on the Throne. I bow to him and greet, "King Eitri!"

"Prince Baldur." Eitri nods at me to speak.

"King Eitri, I would like your permission to learn the art of making weapons." I request, as politely as possible.

The whole throne room is silent, everyone looking at me. Eitri glares at me, while I keep my head high, meeting his eyes unflinchingly. He then says, "You realize that any of Nidavellir's secret techniques won't be taught to you? If this is your attempt at making a fool of us, then I'll kick you out of here now. Asgardian or not, Dwarfs don't share their secrets."

I nod at him and say, "I don't need to learn how to make higher tier weapons. I understand the Dwarves value their secrets, so I simply make this humble request. I would like to simply know how to forge proper tools. Even if I learn how to make a simple steel knife, without using any Uru, I'll be happy with it. I'm humble enough to admit that the basic Nidavellir techniques are superior to the best that Asgard can offer. Which is why I am requesting you to teach me."

Eitri keeps his stare going, and says, "Every day, you will learn under me..-"

"But my King!" one of the guards interrupts.

"SILENCE!" Eitri shouts, his voice vibrating through my whole body, and the guard stays silent.

Eitri turns to me and says, "Every day, after your transfer is finished, you will come with me, and watch me forge. I won't show you even a hint of Dwarven techniques, but you will learn to forge as per Asgardian Standards. I won't have any student of mine be incompetent, so your stay will be extended for another year if you are competent."

He pauses, so I nod at him, showing that I understand, and I accept. He nods and continues, "For the first month, until your weapon is finished, you will only watch, and not touch any forging tool. After that, I will test you on your knowledge, and then we'll see if you get to stay for the rest. Now leave. Bloody Asgardians."

He mumbled the last part to himself, but made sure I heard it. I smile at him, both in gratitude for the chance given, and cheekiness. Oh I know I won't learn to forge on Eitri's standards. But still, Asgardian steel weapons are still way stronger than Midgardian steel weapons. Mostly it's the magic used, but it also depends on the forging techniques. And Dwarven techniques of handling the metals are way superior to Asgardian techniques.

That night, I sleep happily, knowing I'm going to be making a lot of training tools, and accessories for myself.

A/N: So the first thing on my mind to make, is two pairs of bracelets for his hands and legs, that increase in weight depending on the magic inserted in it. It's like those weight seals from Naruto fanfics. As the gravity training from DBZ is a bit OP, and he'll kill Thanos in the first meeting itself.

The second one is a light saber, obviously. And the last is a resistance tool. It will inhibit his magic, and make him weaker. Sort of like how Thor was once Odin banished him.

That's the only things on my mind for now. If you have any suggestions, please comment!

So Nidavellir. He'll make a few tools for himself here, as I said. Any suggestions are welcome.

I don't know shit about forging weapons, or jewelry. Whatever I eill describe, I will take from Google. And most of the time I'll skip to "And he made this..." not the process. Although, if I get imaginative, then I will write the process for a few weapons.
