Duel

"Hey, big guy, come down and fight?" Varion declared.

The two of them raised the muzzles of their guns in unison, but to their surprise, there was nothing visible.

"Did you make a mistake?" Royce questioned.

"No, it's normal that you can't see it with the naked eye, but he's there," Varion grinned confidently.

The Ancient Predator scanned the group, the other two Predators having met their demise in various ways. Now, he stood alone, a testament to the impact this group of people had made.

A thud echoed, catching Isabelle and Royce's attention. Something was there, and the blue electric current flashed, revealing the imposing figure of the Predator. Its tall frame and the piercing eyes beneath the mask resembled a snake's gaze.

Cold, vicious, and full of tyranny.

"Okay, put down your guns! I want to collect this guy; he's rare even in Predator Civilization," Varion declared.

The Ancient Predator roared, and Varion assured the others, "It's okay, just listen to me."

Despite Varion's confidence, the muzzles were still raised, displaying their lingering distrust.

The Ancient Predator roared again, producing a short stick that transformed into a deadly spear. Royce questioned Varion, "Do you think he can beat it?"

Royce shook his head, "You still think he's just a scientist? This Varion knows too much, and since he appeared here, he's been calm, as if everything is under his control. If he dares to do this, he must have a plan."

"Come on! Let me see how powerful the Predator Civilization is."

Varion taunted the Predator, provoking it to action. With a swift move, the Predator leaped into the air, spear aimed for a deadly strike. A spark appeared on Varion's chest, surprising the creature. Varion, however, maintained a smirk, revealing a mysterious confidence.

The Predator, initially filled with predatory intent, now hesitated as it faced Varion. Despite its efforts, it couldn't discern any weakness in Varion's stance.

With a roar, the Predator unleashed a deadly disc from its hand, aiming for a fatal strike.

To Royce's shock, Varion remained motionless as the disc struck his forehead, seemingly unfazed by the attack. Before the Predator could follow up with its spear, Varion deftly disarmed it, leaving both combatants stunned.

Varion grinned at the bewildered Predator. "Feeling suspicious?"

The Predator, unable to comprehend how its attacks had been thwarted, hesitated. Its spear, crafted from advanced alloys, should have easily pierced Varion's flesh. Yet, Varion stood unscathed before it.

In a swift motion, Varion kicked the spear aside, further confounding Isabel and Royce with his seemingly supernatural abilities.

"Is this even real?" Isabel questioned, her voice tinged with disbelief.

Royce could only stare in astonishment, unable to find words to describe the surreal turn of events.

As the realization sank in that Varion had effortlessly bested the Predator, Isabel voiced the possibility of returning home.

Varion, however, had other plans. With a furrowed brow, he approached the subdued Predator, stepping on its arm as he activated a small computer.

"I told you, you're my collection," Varion declared, retrieving a device from the Predator's arm. The a small nuclear bomb, capable of untold destruction.

"What's that?" Isabel inquired, her curiosity piqued by Varion's actions.

"It's a self-destruction device," Varion explained calmly.

"Okay, you've succeeded. Are you going back to Earth or somewhere else?" Isabel pressed, eager for answers.

Royce nodded, contemplating the idea of returning to Earth. "Earth, where can you go if you don't go back?"

"That's not necessarily the case. The universe is very big, and there are many interesting things. Oh, by the way, you can help me watch him. If you dare to move, you will directly break your limbs," Varion warned, his tone carrying a stern authority.

Isabelle eagerly joined in, raising her gun. "I'd love to help."

"I don't think he could have imagined that he would lose so badly. There is another one tied up here," Royce remarked, noting the defeated enemy nearby.

"Varion, didn't you say their spaceship is here? How are we going to find it? If they don't give it to us, I'm afraid we won't be able to find it."

Varion looked at the sky pensively. "No, it's just a spaceship; I have it too."

"..."

"Mousse, come pick me up."

Two minutes later, under the bewildered gazes of everyone, a colossal spaceship materialized outside the venue. Bright lights illuminated the entire camp.

"This... is this your spaceship?"

Seeing Varion nod, Royce swallowed hard. "Don't tell me, you're not human either?"

"Don't be afraid, I'm human, I'm a scientist. Isn't it reasonable to have a spaceship of your own?"

"What the fuck!" Royce muttered, realizing the depth of Varion's deception. Several people disembarked from the spacecraft, flying to Varion and saluting respectfully.

"Commander, the data collection is complete; you can capture the Star at any time."

"Well, take this up. By the way, there was a Predator spaceship outside the camp, take care of it."

"Clear."

Royce and Isabel exchanged glances, their minds reeling. This guy had been pretending all along. They could now see clearly that this group of people wasn't walking; they were flying. Was this another den of aliens?

Facing Predators allowed for some struggle, but against Varion, trouble was futile. Knives wouldn't cut it, and guns probably wouldn't work either.

"Huh? What are you still standing here for? Let's go!"

The abundance of spaceships felt like living in a dream. Every detail they witnessed was beyond their wildest imaginations. The people on the spaceship were equally extraordinary, seemingly capable of defying the laws of physics.

"Two, welcome to the Future. Originally, you could go back to Earth directly, but I found something interesting, and it may take some time before you can go back."

The hidden message was clear, if they dare not to comply. Their fate could be worse that of the Predator.
