Chapter 13

He didn't let go of my coat and kept looking at me yieldingly. I don't know why but in his eyes there was some sort of curiosity that was bothering him.

" Shiyi , I don't know why but I can't seem to push you away. Maybe it's my attraction towards you that doesn't allow me to step away. But I request you if you can please step back ."

My heart stopped the moment he told me step back , I never thought he would ask something like that of me. My desire towards him is overflowing .

" Maybe I don't want to step back."

" Then take one step forward and make your move. Don't keep hanging on the edge , in the end you'll drag us both to the darkness. "

" I...I..I'm afraid Liyan. I'm afraid to step forward. I'm such an idiot that I can't even step back. I don't even know what I want right now. "

" You do Shiyi. You need to let go of your fear ."

The driver again called out to him. I interrupted his time a lot. He let go of the other part of the cost . My heart was filled with disappointed with my self. I was resenting on my own thoughts.

He looked at me and smiled at me in his usual way. That gentle breathtaking smile.

" I'll be off then Shiyi. Take care."

He was walking away from me. Though he was just a few steps away from me but it felt like he is drifting away far more than that.

" Liyan!"

He stopped then looked back at her.

" I want to see you again." I was clenching my dress tightly and standing there blankly looking at him , desperate for an answer.

He tilted his head down a little then with that same breathtaking , electrifying smile , looked at me ," I do too."

At that moment it was like the million barrier between us had swished away in the snap of my finger. I stood there until he walked to car and was no longer visible. I don't know why and I don't know how but what I said came out from my heart . I meant it and I do not regret it.

" Dr. Lan you are finally here. The patient is very serious. Dr. Jian has taken the patient to the operation theater. We'll help you scrub in." The situation is tense . A patient started to collapse , the reason was still unknown. And I had been in charge of that patient since a month. I hurriedly wore my surgeon's attire then scrubbed in the operation theater.

" What are the stats Xia ?"

" The blood pressure is dropping and the bleeding in her head won't stop. I can't figure out the place of the cut."

" Don't worry I've got this. Call for Dr Shao and Dr Kim , ask for an MRI result again."

" Yes Dr Lan." The nurse ran out to complete the tests . I tried my best to stop the bleeding and after a few seconds I finally found out the actual bleeding cause . It was a ruptured tumor. Thankfully Dr Shao and Dr Kim came at the right moment. They took over and finally saved the patient.

Dr Shao Han and Dr Kim Jihoo both are the chief surgeons of our hospital. I am currently doing my internship under them. They are here in China under a project not for long . And I wish to gain as much experience and knowledge I can from them before they leave for Korea.

" Good work guys. Dr Jiyan try not to panick next time and Dr Lan good work , but still needs some improvement. Work on that guys." They both praised us and pointed out our laggings then took off.

" Finally out shift is over. It was such a tiring night." Xia said while stretching her arms and shoulders.

" Yeah it sure was hectic."

" So have you heard from Jiashen in a while? " She said in an unusual way. She seemed very nervous and confused. " No I haven't been in contact with the both of you since last time we met . Why? is something wrong?"

" No no no it's fine. It really is fine."

* Phone vibrating* " look it's Jiashen calling. Let's meet okay?"

She kept shaking her head in denial but it was too late cause I already picked up the call ," hey Jiashen let's catch up for dinner what do you say?"

" Where the hell are you dummy ? It's almost 6 in the morning. Who gets dinner now?"

" Haha...you got me . Then let's catch up for breakfast. How about that ?"

" Yeah sure, by the way is Xia with you? She hasn't been answering my calls for some time."
