Chapter 18

Peter is a real friend who doesn’t care about his status, he takes him as a human being and can tell him to go to hell any day any time. And that is the kind of friend that Ken wants.

Inside peter’s house, the two lovers resume their discussion of ken moving to Italy.

"Yes, I'm leaving in two weeks, it was all my mother’s idea to go and study engineering, but it will be just for five years and I will come back to you I promise." He said holding her hands

"Are you calling five years, just! How do you expect me to live without you around? I don’t like this," she starts crying again.

Ken cupped his hands on Gina’s face, kissing away her tears, Ken has never had to console a woman before in his life, all he knew how to do, was to have sex and leave, so he didn’t know if he was doing the right thing.

"Please Ken don’t go.. or...or you can take me with you, yes, I want to go with you," Gina said behaving like a baby now,

That, made Ken more confuse, why is she behaving like a child now, what will he do?

So he thought to carry her in his arms and made her place her head on his chest. Caressing her, he assured her of his return to take care of her and never to leave her again, not knowing if he can keep his promise to her, seeing how his entire family reacts to their love.

But what worries him the most was the way his mother is behaving towards Gina, asking him not to bring her into her house, anyways his mother just needs to accept the fact that he loves Gina and nothing can change that, not even his mother.

“Don’t worry I will be back before you know it, just promise me you wait for me."

“I promise". Gina said lowering her eyes for Ken to see, "and you promise me you won't forget about me.?"

“Forgetting you will be the last thing I will do,". He bends over and kissed Gina on the forehead, and before they knew what was going on both of them are half naked kissing, and end up making sweet,  sweet love.

Gina was breathless when they finally let go of each other, because they have been soaring in the sky of lovemaking for like hours, never wanting to let go, it was like, that will be the last day of them seeing each other.

“Ken I'm hungry" Gina managed to say.

"What will you like to eat dear, I hope this guy has something to eat in this house?", he got up and hurriedly went to the kitchen to look for food but find nothing.

"This guy is a total mess. Not even noodles in this whole house."

 Gina starts laughing at Ken because he was running helter scatter looking for food to give her.

"We can just eat outside, don’t kill yourself okay," she said.

“Really? will you like to eat outside?"

“Yes, I will"

"Okay, dress up let's go and get something to eat."

Coming out of the restaurant they went to eat, they came face to face with Ken’s mother’s maid,  the one ken once slept with.

On seeing them holding hands and laughing, Miriam got angry at Ken.

 “So this is the prostitute you left me for? Ken I have known you to be a womanizer but I didn’t expect you to be a fool." Miriam yells at Ken in anger.

 “What is she talking about?" Gina asks Ken.

"Don’t mind her she is just stupid, she is my mother’s maid." Ken tries to confuse Gina.

"And so, what if she is your mother’s maid? and what gave her the authority to talk to you in that manner?"

 Ken didn’t want them to stay longer than that, so Miriam wouldn’t reveal their secret. He hurried Gina into a car waiting outside.

"Yes, run; Ken run.., and as for you this little prostitute, you are not ashamed of yourself sleeping with two brothers nonsense.!"  Miriam yells at Gina.

"Ken, what is going on? Why is she calling me a prostitute?"

"Don’t mind her, I will explain everything to you, this is all my mother’s doing" Ken said not knowing a better liar to tell her. "My mother put her up to this," he said and hope that Gina buys it.

"Your mother asked your maid to insult you! Ken Who does that!?"

"Benjamin did, she is Benjamin’s mother’s maid, you see those people hate me so much that they can do anything to ruin my life, but I promise you, I will put an end to all of this trust me.

“hmmm, this is the first time I'm seeing a maid talking so disrespectful to their boss, and why is everyone treating you in that house as if you don’t matter.?"

"Don’t worry my dear all of this will soon be a thing of the past" he said and was hoping that Gina would change the topic.

"Anyways I now see why your mother wants you to go to Italy," she finally said 

"Yes that’s true, and when I finally become an engineer, no one will look down on me again", he said making his face as if to cry, he wants Gina to pet him and it worked.

Gina pulls Ken toward allowing him to place his head in her breast and she consoles him.

"Don’t worry everything will be fine." She said and Ken gave out a big sign of relief, now he needed some fresh air because he was sweating from head to toe because of the liars he was telling her, and blessing his stars he didn't get caught.

Miriam is so angry that she wants to rip Gina apart. “huh… that little prostitute, what does she have that I don’t have. And the girls nowadays have no fear. Sleeping with two brothers at the same time huh.. even me that is a professional cannot open my eyes and sleep with two guys at the same time not to talk of brothers. And she is enjoying it.

Rich people; can do anything and get away with it. I better stop all this housemaid job and look for a way to be a rich woman.

I know what I have to do, get a rich man to marry me, that will be the answer, yes! And when am rich, I will deal with every one of them that has used me one way or the other, nonsense! and Ken will be the first I will toast.".

She was still talking when a car pulls over and motioned for her to come.

“Me?"

“Yes, you."

"Oh, mine! That was fast" she muttered and adjust her bra and blouse and walked towards the car.

"Please where is the direction to King’s Way Hotel? I think I miss my way."

“What? huh..….. I think to say a better person." She muttered so disappointedly.

 “I don’t know, go front," she said ignoring him.

"What’s wrong with you?" The man asks.

"Oga abeg go front, am busy." She yells at the man.

"Whatever;" the man said and move his car.

"Nonsense, am looking for a rich man to marry me, and you are here asking me of Kings Way Hotel, mad people everywhere." She curses.

"Where are you coming from?" Ken's mom asks Miriam when she saw her tiptoeing back into the room.

"I went to buy something ma."

"You went to buy something outside and you are tiptoeing back into my house?"

"I'm sorry ma, I didn’t want to wake everyone." She said.

"But it's just past eight and everyone is still awake, Miriam is there something that you are doing that I don't know about it?"

"No, nothing ma, I'm sorry it won't happen again ma."

"It better not happen again, now go back to your room. And by the way, have you seen Ken today?"

“No, ma, I have not set my eyes on him since today."

“It's okay, go back to your room"

“Thank you ma" Miriam kept murmuring as she walk back to her room.

 “Do I look like her son’s keeper? When he is out there enjoying himself, I will be the one answering questions about his where.

Don’t worry, soon all of you will hear from me, all of you."

"And who is hearing from you?" The second maid who will not allow Miriam to have peace in this house asks coming from behind her.

"What is your problem Rose, did you see me in your dream? Or did they send you to me? Oh I see, you are the devil they send to prevent me from getting all that my heart wants, but you will not succeed, I tell you that"

"Don’t you think you are going to get hurt with this whole obsession thing?" The other maid asks.

"Is none of your business, I get what I want and no one can stop me."

“Is alright, suit yourself"  The second maid says and walks away,

"Instead of you looking for how to come out of poverty,  you are here putting your nose in other people's business, you will remain a maid forever, you see," Miriam said.

Meanwhile, Patrick could not understand why Gina didn’t love him.
