Chapter 16

The water trial like the fire was being held in an inverted tower but this was in middle of huge lake. Robin had been transported to the shore of the lake where a bronze plaque stood. It read " Water can flow in a path that already exists or it can make it's own. Even a gently flowing stream has the capability of cutting rocks. So will you tread the path laid out for you or make one for yourself?".

Robin had to swim to the entrance, while swimming she had noticed the lotuses present in the lake, and sure enough these lotuses were just like the fire lily from the fire trial. After studying the flow of water Qi in the lotus she converted her neutral Qi to water Qi and made to flow through the flower of self replicating the flow similar to the lotus, and sure enough, the flower of self changed into a lotus.

She then proceeded into the tower to take the trial. All the challenges in the trial were similar to the fire trial, it taught her martial arts most suitable to use with water Qi and tested her understandings of the laws of water. The water Qi generated during the martial arts practice helped her heal the small wounds caused by the energy Qi, the energy Qi had sometime burnt the surroundings of impurities that were deep inside, it also alleviated the stress caused in the muscles due to overcharging by the energy Qi. She completed the entire challenge in just 3 months. During the optional challenge she was in a room with different liquids, when she examined each liquid with her newly upgraded observation haki. She found that all liquids were made of tiny particles, and these particles were free to move around but not completely free as they were being held together a weak attractive force, she observed how each liquid flowed from one point to another she was surprised to see no matter which liquid they all had the same pattern and followed the same laws only thing that was different was the size of the smallest particle she could observe. The bigger the smallest particle hotter was the liquid, the heat seemed to be required to maintain it in liquid form because to Robin's surprise when she removed some heat from the hottest liquid, it turned solid. She suddenly realised why water turned to ice in colder region.

She knew by manipulating the energy that was present she could control any liquid, she now could not just control water but any liquid , she also could turn a solid to liquid and a liquid to solid with energy manipulation.

But unfortunately she needed to activate fire lily for conversion and switch to lotus for manipulation.

Luckily the martial arts learnt in both tower seemed to be created by the same person as she could seamlessly switch between either of them hence allowing her to freely switch between the flowers when in combat, but out of combat she needed around 5 minutes to switch as she had to switch it to neutral Qi first before converting to another form. It took another 6 months in the additional challenge, soon after she was sent to air challenge.

This time she needed to go up the tower that was located on top of the highest peak on the island. She had been transported to the base of the mountain and had to climb all the way to the peak. Along the way she found pure white daffodils growing, and it was the flower that she needed to observe, once again copying the flow she able to transform the flower of self into the white daffodil which let her externalise the air Qi. She then summoned two of her own daffodils, using her devil fruit power, that were bigger than ones growing, stepping on them she used her air Qi to float to the top of the mountain to begin her trial. It took a total of 6 months to complete both mandatory and the additional challenge. During the additional challenge she realised that air around her was made of multiple small particles of various sizes, she also realised among the mixture of these mainly one type of gas was essential for breathing as she observed that every time she exhaled there were one particular size particles missing. She quickly memorized the energy signature and size of the particle as she knew this will definitely be useful during assassination or quick kills as she could just prevent these particles to flow towards the target. She also found out that when she removed energy from the air particles it became liquid, she was able to find this out as she discovered particles in air that were same as the particles in water. So now she knew that by adding or removing energy she could convert the particle to gas ,liquid or solid. She wanted to fight the ice man or the lava guy as soon as possible as she wanted to know if they could still control their element if she changed its state.

Now all that remained was the earth trial.
