Chapter 16 Suspicion
Hayden wakes up at sunrise. He walks out of his room and into the throne room where Hawkin is eating breakfast. Hayden sits next to him "Are you feeling better?" "Better? okay enough to live? Yes" Hawkin jokes. "You heard the news? King Wallace is suppose to give a speech today" Hawkin Says as he chews his food. "Any clue what it's about?" Hayden says, interested. "Nope but he's supposed to give this speech in a few minutes." Hawkin is more focused on his food than anything else. "Well I guess we should start to head over there." Hayden says as he grabs 5 bread rolls and stands up. "Yeah i guess so" Hawkin says as he starts to grab bread rolls also.
They Head outside and see King Wallace talking to the men in black and red robes. As Hayden and Hawkin get closer they quickly leave. "Who are those guys?" Hayden asked as he watched them walk back to the castle. "Those two are my advisers, but they come from a powerful group. I made a pact with them just in case we get attacked. They lead us there." King Wallace says happily "What did they want in return?" Hawkin says worried. "Nothing. I need to talk to my people." King Wallace walks up the stage as Hayden and Hawkin looked at each other worried.
"My people today is the day. We have killed clans,castles and king norman and his Sgt Sir Eren. Our army is growing, our castle is growing, we are growing. With all this growing we need supplies. We need iron for our army, we need food for you people, we need supplies! With Winter on its way we need these supplies now. Villages surround us but they have allies with the clans. So now I declare war on every clan near us, this is a war for survival!
The crowd cheers and the king raises his sword high into the air. Hayden and Hawkin look Horrified" Killing innocent clans just because we don't have enough supplies!" Hawkin Saying Angrily "Why don't we build farms? We have time to get some farms down and get crops planted and grown before we see snow fall." Hayden says as he punches a wall. "He knew we couldn't handle more people but started to grow the castle anyway! He want war, a war i want no part in" Hawkin says as he looks at the king angrily "Yeah i want no part in this. I'm fine with killing when there's a point to it. This, this is just a man grown lazy and Paranoid" Hayden said looking at the king angrily also.
The king walks down and makes his way to Hayden and Hawkin. He puts his hands on their shoulders "How about that, boys. You ready" Hayden and Hawkin Push his hand off them. "We want no part in your war" Hawkin Say crossing his arms. "What did you say?" King Wallace says, raising his voice. "We want no point in your pointless war" Hayden says, crossing his arms. "Why? What do you mean pointless? We need supplies." The king said, almost yelling. "We don't need supplies if you want them. As for food we have everything we need to start building a farm but you rather kill people to help care paranoid head" Hayden says Yelling now.
The king looks at both of them"Fine. I don't need you two anyway." The king storms to the longhouse "You will not have the help of the blue sharks" Hayden yells. The king looks back at them and storms back off. Hayden and Hawkin look at each other then start walking back to the longhouse. They stood at the front door and Hayden stopped Hawkin" We may have just found our newest enemy. I know what I must do, but you know him longer. If he continues to walk down this path we may need to put him down. If you can't handle that you better let me know."
Hayden walks into the long house but Hawkin sits outside. His mind is in pieces."Do i have what it takes to kill him" after thinking to himself Hawkin walks inside. Time has passed and it is now night time. The throne room is filled with everyone eating dinner and chatting. Hayden sat on the left and Hawkin sat on the right. The king and his family sat in the front. The men in black and red robes walked up and started talking to the king. Hayden and Hawkin looked at each other.
"Are you okay? You seemed off all day." Laila said as she grabbed Hayden's hand. "Yeah, I'm okay. Just got something on my mind" Hayden said as he gave a fake smile to Laila. "You sure? If you ever want to talk about something I'm here, don't forget that" Laila said with a voice of worry. " How can i ever forget you here for me when you helped me in the tub yesterday" Hayden joked "Shut up" Laila jokingly slapped Haydens arm why she laughed.
Once dinner ended Hayden was drinking at the table"I'm going to bed. You think you'll be up soon?" "yeah let me just finish this drink and i'll be up" Laila kissed Hayden on the cheek and Headed up the stairs. Hayden finished his drink. Hawkin walks over and Hayden stands up. They Hug and Hawkin sneaks a book into Hayden's hands."Read it quickly and let me know how you feel." Hawkin says as he walks away.
Hayden walks up to his room and lays in bed and starts to read the book.
The book is King Wallace's diary. Hayden skims through it only stopping to read the parts that seem interesting. "Hayden Frostburn. Part 1. Hayden is a strong fighter who has proven his strength many times. I look forward to seeing him grow. Part 2. Hayden was a kid bent on Killing Sir Eren, today He got his wash. He made me proud today and I started to trust him a lot more. Part 3. Hayden as well as Hawkin have told me they will not fight in a war to save our people. How could they do this? I trusted them and they stabbed me in the back. They can not be trusted. What else will they do to doom my kingdom.
Hayden read over it and thought "it meant that much to him?"
Hayden reads over a little more.
"Part 1. I am Afraid. King Norman and Sir Eren have arrived at my walls and treated us. I don't want to die. Part 2. A kid Named Hayden arrived saying He want Sir Eren's head. I wish I could be like him. Fearless even in the face of death. Part 3. A cult arrived today saying they can help protect me. I had to give up my castle But i would do anything to save myself. They let me be a stand in king saying they work from the shadows anyway they do things in my basement and I can hear the screams. They haunt my dreams Part 4. I can't trust anyone anymore. I saw my queen leaving Hayden's room late at night in see through clothing. Once she left she looked happy. That backstabbing bastard. Part 5. I sent Hayden to kill Sir Eren. I hope he dies in that battle. Part 6. Seeing Hayden happy with his family makes me sick. I must find a way to make him suffer. Part 7. Hayden and Hawkin told me they will not help save the kingdom in a war we need. That's the last straw these bastards must pay. Everyone must pay!
Hayden closes the book and lays in bed filled with his thoughts. "I must stop him. But first I have to talk to Hawkin in the morning."
