Chapter Seven

Dinner was finally finished and Ki Sub sat at the dinner table inhaling all the food he could eat. He hadn't expected Jay to be such a good cook. However, he wasn't sure if Jay was a good cook or if he had just been subjected to his father's inedible cooking for so long that anything not burnt would taste as if Gordon Ramsey had prepared it.

"This is so good." He said eating the pasta that Jay made. "The steak is good too." Ki Sub's mouth was covered in pasta sauce. "Hey slow down," Jay insisted. "There is plenty of food for you to eat." He laughed at how the child was eating as if he'd not eaten in days. Jay grabbed an apple and a banana slicing them and placed them on a platter. He sat down across from Ki Sub and ate his dinner. "Is that all your eating?" Ki Sub asked curiously? Jay had prepared a yummy dinner and he wasn't even going to eat it. "Yes, I had a big lunch. I'm not really hungry," he lied.

"Oh okay." Ki Sub said enjoying dinner.

Once he had finished his meal, he sat on the couch watching TV while Jay served him some dessert. "Peach Pie" Jay placed the plate on the coffee table in front of Ki Sub.

"Mmmm," Ki said in amazement. It had been such a long time since he'd eaten good edible food.

"Hey, do you think you could make Korean food too?" Ki Sub asked. He really missed his native cuisine.

"Um," Jay thought "I only know Japanese food since I lived there for a year, but I'm sure I could learn Korean." He smirked. "It should be similar right?

"You lived in Japan?" Ki asked intrigued.

"Yea in college. It was a study abroad program." Jay explained. "I loved it and had a lot of fun." Ki smiled looking at Jay in amazement. He was interesting.

"There's a Korean cookbook in the cabinet." Ki sub said between bites of pie. "It's in English."

"How did you learn to cook?" He wanted to know.

"Well in my family everyone cooks, it's a part of growing up," Jay explained. "When I was little my mom would let me help her in the kitchen and that's how I learned. She taught me."

"Oh, my mom would not let me cook. She was afraid I would get hurt." Ki told Jay. "Maybe you could teach me one day," he asked Jay.

"Sure, I can teach you how to cook." Jay smiled thinking to himself. "I will try to learn more about Korean food too for you Ki Sub." Jay said with a smile as he patted Ki on the head. "I want to make this place feel like home."

Ki Sub smiled. He liked having Jay around.
