Reviews of Tales of Herding Gods

Okay so I should state that this is my first review on this platform, maybe even in general, I don't keep track of that stuff. And before my real review starts I would like to give you some information. I saw this novel appear a while back and I liked the synopsis so I used my voting stones, after Qidian added it I waited till the novel hit about 80 chapters and after that I read the first 50 chapters. And I have to be honest I wasn't really impressed, it's not that I disliked it but more that I expected something completely different than what I was getting. I dropped it at that time an planned to continue with it at a later date. So last week I saw that it had almost reached 500 chapters, and I thought to my self what the hell it's time to start reading again, I read those 440 chapters in less then a week and I loved every second of it, which is rare for me with most novels on this site. Okay so let's start now, the first 50 chapters introduce you to the world a lot of stuff is going on but it's necessary for you to understand the world. The world after that keeps expanding but all of it seems to be intertwined with eachother, it truly impresses me that the writer can come up with this stuff. The second and last thing I wanted to mention was the characters, each character good or bad seem to have an actual brain and motives for the actions they take, it's not just brainless face slapping, you could almost compare it to a kingdom's bloodline on that aspects, a kingdom's bloodline still half being a level ahead of this novel. Note: I see people complaining about the mc not being a villain, the synopsis said this novel was his rise as a villain so not surprising that he doesn't start of evil, but just gets darker and darker along the way.

Oh? A tale of an anti-hero. This is very different from the usual novels which makes this really interesting. And from the other reviews on this novel about it being very ‘Dark’, it hooked me immediately. I hope it doesn’t disappoint.

If this ever gets looked at by a proper translator again they need to re translate starting from chapter 1138 since from then onwards it’s machine translated trying to be passed off as a manual translation

sigh! A heaven defying novel is stuck in dust fill room.... due to no more translator.... wish author find some translator.... it's a pity, for this godly Stunning novel doesn't deserve this treatment.

Please finish what you started! The last chapter is on 1900-ish, so please go on as it is less than 50% left! Personally, this novel is a masterpiece, it would be a shame to leave it.

Please pick this back up, it is one of few that are good on this app. it was actually rated rather highly so I'm not sure how this was deemed as unprofitable.

After 2 1/2 months of reading I’ve finally caught up. This is indeed one of the best novels I’ve read along with I Fix Air-Conditioner’s My House of Horrors and Er Gen’s I Shall Seal the Heaven. Great story and very rich materials. Every character is alive and none of them are wasted. Thank you author Zhai Zhu and the translators and editors! Kudos!

One of the best novel I've ever read, MC is smart, a lot of funny moments, right scene are all elite, very well written, not repetitive. Definitely eating this as 5/5.

One of best on Webnovel. Truly a masterpiece. Characters have personality and really make this novel, enimies become friends and relationships change throughout in organic way, world is huge and mysterious, fights are great and plentiful and note just shouting matches of move names, techniques and cultivation are super well done and unique, lots of lol moments with our myschevious Mc, many small plots as well as a huge and Awsome overarching plot with nothing recycled. Can't hype this one up enough. Thanks for this jewel.

Still can't understand how this novel isn't at least in the Top 10. It's by far my favourite book here. It has it all folks, only lacking in the romance section, but we can always fantasize about that, waifu material is plenty. 10/10

I am honestly pissed off that I've only just now found this absolute gem of a book. The world building and character's (even the minor side characters) are so fleshed out that it feels like you are getting to actually know them. The author has also incorporated this feeling of mystery to the world, where you can't help but ask yourself what happened for the world to be like this. I'm also pissed off that this story isn't being promoted more! Quidan should be pushing this novel far more because it's so good. The relationships between the main character and others is tangible feeling real not two dimmensional like most other books ive read on this site. So TLDR. Tales of Herding Gods is an amazing fleshed out story, fleshed out world, and fleshed out characters. Cultivation is interesting and fresh. This is a must read!

I've been reading novels on Wuxiaworld, Gravity Tales, and Qidian for roughly six years now. In all that time, I've never found a story more compelling than this one. The world is beautifully built, the characters are in a continuous state of growth and development, and the interactions between the characters are all meaningful. The story is crafted wonderfully, utilizing previous plot points and characters to push the story forward, and it never feels like the story is forced or becoming stale. The biggest flaw is that the main character is amazing at many different skills; however, this is explained by his upbringing and hardwork and when he is constantly thrust into situations where there are those whom are either better than him or stronger than him it doesn't really hinder the story. At no point is he considered to be at the pinnacle of anything or be the strongest, because he's not. Watching his growth and the growth of those around him is one of the things that makes this novel so great.

This book is one of the best eastern fantasies I've read to date. I've read plenty of novels from here, **********, and gravity tales yet none of them come close to providing such depth of immersion, mystery, and suspense.

Gonna give five stars for this one Its a good story The Heavenly Recruitment Cult cult master Qin Mu is the best Like the one i've read in the comments Arrogant Qin Mu = Best Qin Mu His arrogant but you can't hate his character you're being charmed by this little devil The Translation is pretty good There is no complicated words use just to make the novels sounds mysterious or unique This novel is a must, the chapters updates is pretty normal Not slow not fast P.s. Overall excellent novel until they decided to toss it in the room of forgotten novels and with them holding the translation rights no one else can finish translating so we are stuck in limbo

rating 5 based on the chapters I read. But translation seems to have stopped for last 7 months. Qidian apparently stopped the novel translation to translate the manga version. They still hold the rights for the novel, so no one else can translate it either.
