Chapter 20

It was past midnight and all the lights in the Cy mansion were turned off except the light from the lamp posts scattered around the Cy residence and from one of the rooms in the mansion.

In the study, Oscar sat across from Edward Mira's dad and they were having a serious conversation. After 30 minutes Oscar finally left the study leaving to his thoughts.

The next morning Mira shot out of her bed as she realized she had fallen asleep while waiting for her brother Damain to return.

As she jumped off her bed she realized something was wrong.

She looked around at the familiar room she was in and wondered how she got there or if she was dreaming. Mira then proceeded to check the time on her phone and realized it was noon.

Mira gasped in shock as the realization of what might have happened dawned on her. She then drew open the mini curtains that were over the window and saw clouds, her suspicions were immediately confirmed.

Last night, while she was waiting for Damien a maid knocked on her and gave her some tea claiming it was from her mum, she didn't think too much of it but now even an animal would be able to understand what happened

Her father had her drugged and then proceeded to act on his promise by shipping her off to another continent just to stop her from helping her friend.

What Mira didn't understand was why he did it when she hadn't made any move to help Daphne. She then dialed her father's number and he picked up after the third ring.

"This is ridiculous Dad, I didn't even try to help her," she said.

"You were waiting up for Damien so you both could hatch a plan. I might be a little old but certainly not foolish, I knew you were going to defy my orders and I would send you away for some time, so I just saved myself the trouble of investigating what you would do" Edward replied

"You were so worried about your family's prestige that you drugged your child and if I helped her behind the scenes no one would have known she received help from me, you're acting like I would broadcast the help I gave her," she said.

"You even said it yourself she has no one even her own family hasn't come to her aid and you want me to abandon.....Hello hello hello"

Mira sat on her bed, mouth agape, as she stared at her now blank phone screen. She eventually recovered from her shock and contacted Damien but his number wasn't reachable, she tried a few more times and even tried to call her Dad again but kept on hearing a female mechanical voice.

She soon gave up trying to reach them and tried to call her mum but was hearing the same female voice, she even tried calling Beatrice and some other people she knew from the city but all the numbers were unreachable.

Her father made sure she had no chance of helping Daphne by blocking all means of contact with Steel City.

Mira knew she couldn't do anything until they landed and they finally did 2 hours later, but did not have the opportunity to run away as the security around her was strict.

Daphne sat in her cell wondering why Mira hadn't visited yet, she could not wait to tell Mira what she found out as she knew it would assist in Quinn's dissonance.

A warden came in and told her someone was there to see her. Daphne's mood improved instantly as she walked towards the room.

But the happy smile on her face turned into that of confusion as she saw two men in the room instead with no signs of Mira it Oscar.
