chapter 17

After her call with the stranger Mira decided to go back home, she knew her mum was probably awake. On her way home Mira saw someone entering a restaurant and from his back view he looked like her step brother Matt, but she couldn't be sure of what she saw because she didn't see his face.

When Quinn was announced as the new CEO Matt lost his mind. He went back to the main mansion and destroyed everything in sight Mira tried to stop him but didn't achieve anything instead got hurt in the process and this made Damien, Mira's second elder brother go berserk on him, it took almost all the body guards available at the mansion to stop them.

Eventually Quinn intervened but couldn't get a complete sentence in before Matt punched him. Mira remembers that day like it was yesterday.

The whole mansion fell silent after Quinn got punched. Everyone held their breath in fear and anticipation because they knew Quinn was an active time bomb that could explode any moment.

Quinn's hazel eyes were burning with rage as he looked at his brother but he didn't do anything because he knew in a state of rage he might kill Matt not that he cared but he knew it would affect the family's image but that didn't mean he was going to let Matt off.

All he did was signaled his men to grab Matt, "Take him to the base", Quinn said and the next day Matt announced that he would be traveling abroad and they never saw him again.

She wanted to be sure so she parked her car by the side of the road and went to investigate. She walked into the restaurant and almost immediately spotted the man sitting at the end of the restaurant, she walked towards his table as he had his back facing her.

When she got to his table she gently patted the man on his shoulder to get his attention and when he turned around she was met with a completely unfamiliar face.

"I'm so sorry I thought you were someone else", she said feeling embarrassed, she walked out of restaurant and got in to her car.

She closed her eyes and rested her head on the steering wheel, today was so eventful and she was so stressed that she started seeing Matt.

Her thoughts were then interrupted by her phone ringing, she checked who was calling and it was Damien, immediately she picked up the phone she started crying, she cried for quite sometime before regaining composure.

"I'm sorry", she said when she finally stopped crying.

"Don't apologize Mira, I know you're just worried, I'm coming back tomorrow to help at the company and to help find Quinn, so don't cry we'll find him soon, Damien said trying to pacify his little sister.

He was also worried about Quinn but he knew he needed to be strong for his family. They spoke for sometime but no too long because Damien needed to get back to packing and had somethings to sort out. Damien had been abroad for 3 years now establishing his own business and now that it was stable he could come back.

After the call ended, Mira drove back home to rest, she checked on her mum who was still asleep and she saw her dad was just sitting beside his wife. She hugged him tightly and said,

"It's going to be all right dad". He hugged her back and then sent her to her room to rest, the sky was already dark by the time she woke up so she went downstairs for dinner.

"Beatrice", Mira called out and Beatrice responded almost immediately.

"Can you pack some food and take It to Daphne's house, i'm worried about her but I can't go over to her place", Mira requested.

Beatrice went to the kitchen packed some food, all were Daphne's favorites food, drinks, snacks and fruit. They were neatly arranged in a hamper and then she left for Sky arc complex with one of the drivers.

It took about 40 minutes to get to Daphne's house because of traffic. When she got to her destination she made her way into her building and told the receptionist who she wanted to see, as the receptionist was about to call Daphne's house there was a comotion.

Two police officers and a handcuffed Daphne were seen coming out of the elevator, everyone stopped what they were doing and stared in shock at the scene. She was put into their car and they drove off leaving the entire building in chaos as everyone whispered among themselves, some had even made videos and taken pictures of the scene.

Beatrice immediately ran to the car and asked the driver to follow the police car while she dailed Mira's number frantically and finally the call got connected.

Mira who was asleep was annoyed at the intrusion but picked up the call when she saw who the caller was because she thought Beatrice might want to give her an update on Daphne. The first thing Mira heard when the call was connected was Beatrice's frantic voice.

"Miss, I just saw Miss Daphne get arrested", She said.

"What did you just saying?", Mira asked as she shot out of her bed.

"Miss Daphne just got arrested and I'm currently following the police car", she said.

"Do you know what police station they're taking her to", Mira asked already wearing a coat over her nightgown and picking up her keys.

"From the direction they're heading at it's the station close to park ridge", she replied.

"Ok, just keep on following them and wait for me infront of the station, I'm on my way", she said running out of her room but bumped into her mum.

"Where are you going so late at night and in such a hurry, what happened?", she asked.

"Mum I'll tell you everything when I get back but I have to go now", she responded but was held back by her mum by her arm.

"Just tell me so I won't be worried about you too", she said weakly because her voice was strained from crying too much. Daphne couldn't refuse her mum in that condition so she told her what happened.

"Oh dear, get to her immediately", her mum said pushing her to the door.

"I'll fill you in on the details when I get back", Mira said and then rushed to car.

On her way to station Mira felt extremely restless, it seemed like everything was going wrong today. Her brother was missing and now Daphne arrested, what could she have done, it must be something serious since they came to her house to find her.

Could she have done something to Imogen or Ethan in a state rage? that should be it, if that was the case then Mira prayed it wasn't something extreme.

Her heartbeat became faster as she got closer to the station and had spotted Beatrice. She got out of the car and met with Beatrice and together they entered the station.
