Chapter 467 "Two Magical Animal Experts"

"What's your score? Also, how's your dream answer?" On the path outside the school, Hermione asked.

Sean gave her an annoyed look, "Judging by this, it doesn't seem like I would even going to manage this one. While yours seemed a little bit better, given you don't even care about the class at all."

Hermione raised her nose proudly, "I don't care about Professor Trelawney, anyway. I will never go to that useless divination classroom again."

The first class in the morning is divination. Hermione, who got an "A" last semester, has already given up Professor Trelawney's class. But Sean, who got an "E," chose to continue this class. Trelawney still has a talent for divination, although this talent cannot be fully used in class.

Sean vaguely revealed his dream, and Professor Trelawney interpreted it as Sean having predicted his death, like the method, time, and place. After hearing all this, Hermione laughed at Sean with an "I knew it would be like this" expression.

Sean could only hold his nose and admit it. Professor Trelawney suffered a lot in the previous term because of Max Dawson, and she lost her usual character. She doesn't want to mention prophecy and dream interpretation that much.

The two discussed Sean's dream. Professor Trelawney walked towards Hagrid's hut.

Under the restrictions of the Ministry of Magic regulations, Hogwarts canceled all outdoor activities, including outdoor classes, in the last school year, and now it is finally reopened.

Hagrid is currently a teaching assistant for the Care for the Magical Animal class, enthusiastically informing them early in the morning that there was a big surprise for everyone in the first class.

However, both Hermione and Sean were pessimistic about this. Hagrid said it was a teaching assistant, but Newt hadn't let him take the wheel of the class.

"It's been a long time since I've walked this road, and there's a strange feeling about it." Hermione sighed after walking through the three-way intersection.

Sean also nodded, "I almost can't remember what the owl hut looks like, but I hope Hagrid won't make any big problem in the first class."

"No, Professor Scamander will be in charge of the class. Is that the Professor and Hagrid?" Hermione pointed into the distance.

Sean heard the words and looked around. Next to Hagrid's hut, two figures, one tall and one short, were waving at them. It was Newt and Hagrid.

"Professor Scamander, and Professor Hagrid." Sean looked at them and shook hands.

"Good to see you, Sean, and Hermione." Hagrid's palm almost wrapped half of Sean's arm and shook it vigorously.

Newt smiled and looked at the two of them, "Good morning, both of you. Hagrid notified you this morning, and you two were the first ones to come."

"I don't have class in the first period, and Sean will come together. Harry and the others should be here in a while," Hermione said, looking behind the two of them, "Professor, what is the magical animal prepared today?"

As soon as she said this, Hagrid immediately became excited, "An unimaginable magical animal! You have never seen such a creature!"

Newt made some weird expressions. Hermione and Sean looked at each other, seeing the helplessness in each other's eyes.

"Sean, you're here just in time. Come as well, Hermione." Newt walked towards the back of Hagrid's hut, motioning them to follow, "Sean, use your ability to check the situation."

Hagrid said, "You will be amazed, and Professor Scamander has confirmed that those creatures are not dangerous at all, just like Bowtruckles!"

Newt was a little helpless, "Hagrid, Bowtruckles can poke people's eyeballs. Pickett, I didn't say you would. Though, you shouldn't bite me."

A small tree creature climbed onto Newt's shoulder, stuck out its tongue, and waved its hands excitedly at Sean.

"Hey, Pickett. Long time no see, how are you doing?" Sean also smiled and waved.

Pickett landed firmly in Sean's palm and happily enjoyed the food in his hand.

"We need to have a good talk when we get back, you traitor," Newt said to Pickett.

While talking, they had already walked to the back of Hagrid's hut. Next to the huge pumpkin patch, several wooden crates that were more than one meter high and two meters wide were being placed there. Hearing the sound of someone approaching, there was a noise in the wooden crate.

Sean's mouth froze. He seemed to know what was inside.

Walking in front of the wooden crate, Newt stopped, "Hagrid."

"Oh, of course. It's my duty and my pleasure." Hagrid rubbed his hands, walked over to the wooden crates, and opened one of them.

Hermione immediately covered her mouth. A monster with a length of six and a half feet and a height of nearly one meter appeared in front of them. The creature looked like a deformed, shelled lobster covered with a grayish-white, armor-like thing, which looked like a cross between a huge scorpion and an elongated crab.

It was so weird-looking that Sean and Hermione couldn't even find where the creature's head was. He noticed that the box was opened, and a strong flame burst out from the monster's tail, accompanied by a violent rustling sound.

"Oh, look at this cute guy," Hagrid said enthusiastically, "It was about to move just now, so it jumped with the tail, which can propel the body forward for a certain distance. Of course, it is now bound by the magic inside the box. Aren't they amazing?"

Sean spread his hands, "Thank you for telling me how it works. I can finally know which direction this guy's head is in."

Hermione took a step back in disgust and horror, "Hagrid! Did you make this?!"

Hagrid raised his head proudly, "Of course. Well, the credit was not all by me."

Newt sighed, and he looked at Sean. "I failed."

"Huh?" Sean was taken aback for a moment and realized.

He opened his eyes wide in horror, "Hagrid and West met?!"

The grandson of Newt's assistant, West, is a well-known specialist in magical animal breeding. Newt has been trying his best to prevent West and Hagrid from meeting, and Sean deeply believes that these two guys shouldn't meet.

Hagrid shook his head, "West didn't do anything bad this time."

Newt glanced over with stern eyes, and Hagrid immediately lowered his head like a child who had done something wrong.

"Doing nothing wrong means you got a manticore with an XXXXX rating?" Newt rubbed his temples. "He's responsible for buying it for you, and you're responsible for crossbreeding it, am I right?"

Hagrid muttered, "But a new species has been born, Professor..."

He pointed to the snail, blasting the wooden crate hard. "They also evolved really fast. At first, it was only three inches long!"

"It was thanks to your way of feeding them. Also, the first batch had eighty at first, but now there are only five left, and the others all died of cannibalism."

Hagrid stopped talking now.

Sean walked up to Newt and persuaded him, "Professor, don't be angry. Have you studied the habits of this manticore?"

Newt's expression became less serious, and his tone remained the same: "Their main habits are almost fully studied, and it has a lot of characteristics of a normal manticore in terms of aggressiveness and temper. Unless there is a male and a female, cannibalism would definitely happen."

"West did a good job finding good offspring. According to my judgment, the one bred by Hagrid will continue to grow until its body can't hold it anymore. Not only the tail, but its whole body will explode."

"West and Hagrid have secretly researched it for a long time. The current manticore growth should be at one meter tall. They will be categorized as real adult creatures. Hopefully, they won't explode later on."

To sum up, the creature had many flaws, but Hagrid and West made something good. The two had been researching for a long time without telling Newt, and they really bred a whole new kind of magical animal.

Of course, the danger level is ridiculously high. Newt came to Hogwarts in advance to observe it. According to him, it was at least XXXX when it started, given how it behaves.

In the end, Newt was helpless. He didn't disapprove of the creature, but West and Hagrid's way of breeding creatures made him mad as things could gone wrong easily. Fortunately, the collaboration between the two magical animal experts did not produce any unexplainable monsters.

"Sean, I need your help," Newt said.

"Of course, Professor."

"I have tried to communicate with a creature like them, but it has been failing lately."

After hearing this, Sean looked at the creature again. It was full of spikes and weird legs, and the only soft belly was attached to the ground.

With his talent, he was able to communicate with magical animals. After standing here for so long, except for the sound of rustling, Sean didn't hear them talking at all.

"Let me try." Sean walked to the wooden crate and looked it over.

This tail was big. Under the restrictions of Newt's magic, even if Sean was very close, he could still be attacked. After looking around carefully, Sean raised his head.

He now faces a serious problem. Where are the eyes of this creature?

Sean's talent for magical animals works more effectively if he sees through the creature's eyes.

"Hagrid, where's the head and eyes of this thing?"

Hagrid proudly puffed out his chest, "Its brain should be at the center, firmly protected by the armor and some tissues. It has no eyes. According to my guess, it uses sensors on its legs."

He turned to look at Newt, "Professor, I tried my best."

"I guess that if you want to know more about the characteristics of this creature, you can only rely on observation day after day."

The two magical animal whisperers sighed and walked outside. It was the first time that these two were so powerless in front of a magical animal.

Hagrid scratched his head and glanced at Hermione, who was distancing herself, "Hermione, what's wrong with them? Aren't they cute?"

Hermione's eyes widened. "Hagrid, a terrifying monster six and a half feet long and three feet high, is not a normal creature, nor do we describe it as cute."

"Oh, you haven't touched it yet. As long as you touch it, I believe you will like them."

"There is no chance for me to do that."

As it turns out, the other students thought the same as Hermione.

At the class, Hagrid brought hundreds of newly bred manticores. None of the students could accept their weird appearance and the smell of rotten fish that was always coming out.

Hagrid was disappointed. Sean thought about it and asked him for some of them. He kept it in his ring and might want to study it in the future.
