Chapter 18: The Tiny One Awakens
We were insanely lucky today. All Might woke up and immediately went into his big form. He leaped out of bed and immediately got whacked on the shin by Recovery Girl.
"You big dummy, sit down, don't wake the child." Goodness, this lady could thwack with that cane. We had been watching over them all night just to make sure that Eri had familiar faces to look at when she woke up.
All Might sat back down quickly and then immediately started patting his body. "I feel amazing." His voice was slightly higher than his aged baritone. His eyes caught on a mirror that hung behind Recovery Girls' desk. "Is that really me? HAHA, I look and feel amazing."
Eri stirred on one of the other beds and All Might got another smack on the shins for waking her up.
"You musclehead, I just warned you not to wake her up." Recovery Girl shot him a glare. I rushed over to be by Eri's side.
"Hey cutie, how are you feeling?"
Eri rubbed her eyes and opened them slightly. She panicked slightly seeing that she was in a medical room but then her eyes caught mine. "It's the nice lady. …mmm, I'm okay." She gave a cute little kid squirm and sat up.
I let one of my tails rest in front of her and as she was looking around her tiny hands grabbed onto it and hugged it unconsciously. When she looked down and gave the tail a tight hug near her face and whispered "Fluffy" into the tail.
This girl was just sugar and spice and everything nice.
"Well, you'll be happy to know that you'll never have to deal with those bad men ever again. I caught the guy who was after you and took him down."
Her eyes opened really wide, "Really?" She started to tear up and then panic crossed her face. "D-d-did t-t-the other guy d-d-disappear? Did I make someone disappear again?" She started to hyperventilate. I just moved slightly, All Might was behind me with one of his classic smiles and a big thumbs up.
"He's right here. See he is all fine." She sobbed and then grabbed me in as big of a hug as her little frame could manage. "Thank you."
"No problem sweetie."
The nurse's office door slid open and Aizawa, Nezu, and Tsukauchi walked in. "Hello you four, good morning. I hope you all slept well. We have come to get statements for the arrest of Kai Chisaki since the police were only able to get a small word from you before you rushed here. I think it would be a wonderful time for the little princess to introduce herself, don't you think."
She kept her little face buried into my stomach only eking out "Eri," before tightening her grip.
Eri gave one-word answers while she was questioned and refused to let go of me. I just shifted to holding her because it was easier at some point.
Tsukauchi had been doing this for years which allowed him to get as much as he could from Eri. Once the interview was over, she fell right back to sleep obviously exhausted.
"Toshi, you look like you just graduated." Tsukauchi gave him a teasing sock in the arm.
"I feel like I just graduated. I haven't felt this good in a long time." He gave some jumps and mock punches in his new young form.
Nezu spoke up, "Well whatever her quirk did to you turned back time on your body which means she has an amazing quirk. If she grows up and can use it, she may just be the best doctor in the world.
"I need you to inflate though, All Might. We need to make sure there aren't any changes to your body and quirk with the new youth."
"My quirk feels the same as it did yesterday, it is still leaving, whatever Young Eri did, did not affect my quirk." All Might inflated again into a much healthier-looking version of his usual muscle form. There weren't many changes, just muscle in places that it had been atrophied before.
"I FEEL GREAT." All Might dashed out of the room and must have done a lap around the entire school grounds because he came back and plopped right back down in the nurse's office. "I CAN CONFIDENTLY SAY THAT EVEN THOUGH YOUNG ERI DIDN'T CHANGE MY QUIRK, SHE DID MAKE MY BODY MORE EFFICIENT, I PROBABLY HAVE A WHOLE EXTRA HOUR." His excitement was contagious, but he was loud. It's a good thing Eri didn't wake, or Recovery Girl would have kneecapped him.
He deflated and took on a powerful yet thankful face, "You all in this room have done so much for me and let me be a hero for much longer, first Lady Nataka and now the little soldier."
"I'm glad we could help, All Might."
"Yes, indeed All Might," Nezu spoke up, "I must hold you up for today though. If you forgot, today is the first day of the sports festival and we must all attend, and you are handing out medals."
The room froze for a moment, we had all been so busy that it had slipped our minds. "Lady Nataka, I leave you to the care of the young ward, please bring her up to the teacher's booth when she wakes up. The events start in 30 minutes. I'm sure after her short nap that bed may be needed by a student." Nezu rushed us along.
"This excitement isn't good for an old ladies' heart." Recovery Girl just gave us a sigh and went to sit at her desk.
