Rumble in the Desert

In the Shari desert the transforming Broly had freed himself from the grips of the two strongest beings on the planet who had not expected a baby to have so much strength.

"Everyone back away from Broly!" Batman called out.

The team separated. Superman and Wonder Woman took to the air along with Green Lantern and Hawkgirl who wielded her mace unsure of whether or not to use the weapon on the transforming child. They formed a diamond pattern above the transforming Broly. Martian Manhunter stood opposite Batman while the Flash stood at the last point of the triangle, to provide any assistance when it would be needed.

Broly was hunched over his body growing at a visible speed. His body took on the body shape of a gorilla with a broad core, with a baboon's face with a longer muzzle and the tail of a monkey. He had sharp fangs protruded from his jaws. Fur now covered him all over save for his feet, hands and chest. His tail lashed in pain.

"Gods. What is he transforming into?" Wonder Woman asked.

"I told you he had gorilla, monkey, baboon and orangutan DNA as well as the werewolf DNA. This seems to be the combination of these DNA types." Batman called out.

"Yes but why is he growing so large? Where is the energy and mass coming from?" The Flash asked.

"If I am right then the energy he was exposed to is still within him. With the addition of the divine DNA and the Ivo absorption cells it seems his body is using the energy within them to transform." Batman explained his suggestion.

It was anyone's guess at this point.

They watched as the transformation continued until there was a mountain of fur in front of them. The mountain moved as Broly stood to his full height as a Great Ape. Standing at 100ft tall with a massive tail swinging around erratically. Brownish black fur reflected in the moonlight. He then looked towards the moon and roared.

The Justice League all covered their ears at the gigantic ape's roar. Looking back down Broly catches sight of Superman. Feeling an immense threat from this being the ape attacked. Before they could recover Broly attacked Superman with a massive fist at a speed that left the League shocked. Superman reacted by trying to catch the fist. He was partially successful, the fist halted for a second before Broly roared again and put all of his strength into the blow. The blow did not throw him away as it was intended, but it still sent him to the ground where he passed through two massive dunes before coming to a stop.

Seeing their biggest hitter knocked down so quickly the League reacted quickly and began to attack Broly to calm him or knock him out. They had to be somewhat careful since there was no way to know if they hurt this transformation if it would kill Broly when he turned back.

Green Lantern sent a projection of a massive train at Broly who swept his hand and smashed the train to pieces. Green lantern fell back from the backlash and recovered floating in the air. "Damn, does this kid hits hard."

Wonder Woman did not hold back as she felt a threat similar to one of the Cyclopes of Themyscira. If she did not attack with most of her power then the others would not survive when it turned towards them. Diving down from the air she clocked Broly in the jaw making him stagger backward. On the ground the three league members stumbled as the ground quaked from the footsteps of Broly.

"Wooh boy that baby sure did grow." The Flash stated as he ran towards the back of Broly's legs in an attempt to knock his knees out. Running at a speed where he could climb Broly the Flash reached the back of his knees and give twenty fast punches that made the knee give way.

Broly fell to one knee when Hawkgirl came from the sky and hit Broly on the other side of his face with her electrified mace. While Green Lantern hit Broly with a massive green fist that sent him to the ground.

Thoom.

Broly landed on the ground where Wonder Woman felt like a stone onto his stomach making him curl into a ball. As everyone calmed down Superman came out from the dune spinning at high speeds. Upon reaching the air he stopped and looked over the battle. It seemed like they had been able to knock him down but was that the end of it?

A second later he came to the conclusion; no, no it was not over.

With a flick of his tail Broly sent Wonder Woman into a dune where she disappeared exactly like Superman did, not moments before. With a swing of his massive arm Broly smashed Hawkgirl from the air into a dune. She did not sink to the bottom like Wonder Woman due to her wings covering a wider surface area.

The Flash as run to the side of Batman to see if he had any ideas, "So any clue how to get him calmed down? Or do we just keep fighting him till he stops moving? If he had as much energy put into him as you think then that could take a very long time even with his gigantic size. Would silver hurt him at all?"

"I don't know if silver would work against him with all the other types of DNA he has in him. I don't have anything that can calm him down. I don't know enough about him to come up with anything on the spot. The only way I can think to calm him down is to knock him out. If we do that we may be able to revert him back. Otherwise we have to wait for the moon to disappear." Batman stated.

"Right now would be a good time to have a magician to obscure the moon from Broly's eyes." The Flash lamented.

Hearing that Batman came up with an idea that could work if it was implemented right and if Martian Manhunter could do it. "J'onn do you think you could obscure the moon from Broly's mind? If you do that he may stop his transformation."

"I think I can. The only problem is the amount of rage this form has is something I have not come up against. So it may take some time to do it. I need you to keep him occupied while I do this." J'onn said to the group as his eyes glowed green.

As he said this Green Lantern put a bubble of protection over him so he could continue his work.

"Understood." Superman said as he flew towards Broly who had just started to stand. He went for the double punch to the lower jaw to send Broly to the ground again with a loud boom.

"That shouldn't be too hard." Hawkgirl said as she tempted fate.

Superman had just stopped above Broly and levitated in the air. Before anyone could react Broly opened his mouth and energy started to form into a large glowing green sphere. In a second the ball formed and was sent out at extreme speed, hit Superman and exploded. Superman cried out at the explosion and flew far of into a dune half a mile away.

Everyone was shocked at the attack and they were unsure of what kind of energy had just hit Superman. Now proceeding with more caution the team spread back out around Broly. Batman threw some of his batarangs, which exploded on Broly's furry body. Hawkgirl appeared before Broly and started to smash him with the mace. Broly put his arms over his head to protect from the weapon. Broly was now crouched with his arms over his face.

Suddenly, the dune behind him exploded outward as Wonder Woman hit Broly's back knocking him to the ground again. The Flash seeing his chance ran towards Broly and started to attack his head and neck in an attempt to knock him out. His quick punches dazed Broly who could not catch his breath.

Martian Manhunter who had been standing off to the side with his glowing eyes was able to gain ground when Broly was nearly knocked senseless. With a push of needle thin piece of psychic energy he was able to cover the trigger of the whole episode, the moon, with his mental energy. As he did it he placed a block on the moon from Broly's mind. With this block in place he could look into the sky and not see the moon even if he knew it was there.

Broly's movements became even more sluggish as the block solidified with the psychic energy Martian Manhunter was putting into it. Soon Broly stopped moving and his eyes closed. When they did Broly began to shrink. The hair all over his body also began to recede back into his skin. Within a minute Broly was laying on the sand covered ground naked.

Breathing hard Martian Manhunter explained what he did to the group as Superman came flying back only to see Broly back in his human form. "I was able to put a mental block on the moon for Broly. From here on out he will not see the moon even if he looks right at it. With this the transformation will not happen unless the block is removed or broken somehow. With the rage I felt present in his normal and transformed psyche I don't know how long it will last."

"What rage would a baby have? He shouldn't even be conscious at this point not enough to know rage. I can understand the transformation considering everything we have ever heard of the werewolf. But a baby? How? Why?" Hawkgirl asked Martian Manhunter.

"Venom was used as a base in the DNA combination." Batman said to the group.

Everyone had surround Broly at this point and watched the transformation revert in horror.

Manhunter responded explaining more of Broly's origins for the League to understand, "At the CADMIS labs Broly was conscious enough to have a vague understanding of what was happening in an extremely simple way. He saw the lab techs and the tubing running to his chamber. The chamber that was causing him so much pain. This pain it was unlike anything you could believe. I felt only a small portion of it and was nearly incapacitated. His body was not fully synchronized so the doctors put him in a solution they could push energy into. This was the energy that Batman told us of the United States power grid of nearly ten years time. Where Venom was used as a part of the solution to finish the combination of his DNA."

Everyone was shocked by the news and the fact that Broly had seemed so calm and happy earlier. For him to react that way after what he had gone through was something they could not understand.

"H-how? Even Sups and Wonder Woman would be wounded by that amount of energy. Plus if Venom is present in his body if not DNA then why is he so calm?" The Flash asked.

"It is because of Ivo's cells. They are absorption cells meaning they absorb all energy that is in contact with them. These cells would have been used to concentrate the energy to forcefully combine the DNA without degrading it. Including Venom." Batman stated.

"Then why did he not attack Batman when he picked him up? If he has the rage you were talking about then it seems to me he would be thrashing about at everything with that green glowing energy he sent out at Superman earlier." Green Lantern said.

Everyone looked to Manhunter as he spoke up again, "It seems his instincts are so finely tuned he could feel a persons intentions similar to a weak psychic. It is strong enough for the rage to be held in check until he is attacked. Or he transforms. That might also be the reason he was able to send me impressions of what he expected to happen. I used some of his psychic energy to build the block as well so it will stay for a longer period of time. But, I am not sure with rage present how long the block will stay whole. It will slowly erode the block away. I will have to keep a watchful eye on him though."

"Good job J'onn. Now we don't have to worry about him transforming anytime soon. But, I have to ask. Why does it seem Broly grew?" The Flash asks the group.

It was indeed true that Broly seemed to have grown from a baby of a few months to a child of between one and two. He was now bigger and had a fully head of hair that stood out weirdly with spikes all over. It stood against gravity and did not fall like normal hair. This was interesting but not the weirdest hair type they have seen since some aliens have glowing and free floating hair.

"If I was to hazard a guess the energy output he had in his transformation was too large for a baby so his body subconsciously forced his growth to accommodate the transformation. I have seen some alien species that have similar body types. Their body forcefully grows and ages when there is too much energy to contain." Green Lantern says to the group.

"So if he had stayed in his transformed state he would have grown even more?" The Flash asked.

"That is inconclusive. I think Green Lantern is right. His body has probably just finished one of his stages of growth. Since he was created from so many different DNA types there needed to be a way for the energy to release. I believe his hair is also an outlet of sorts that is why it is standing on end as it is." Batman states as he pulls off his cloak once more that night to wrap Broly up.

"With his instincts, his transformation and the energy he shot at Superman there is no logical way we can abandon Broly to someone else. It is likely we cannot send him anywhere unless there are a few of us with him. He will have to stay with us if we don't want major catastrophes to happen with him at the center. It is even more important to expand the League even if it is just for Broly at this time. With him keeping one or more of us locked down we will not be able to do as much." Hawkgirl stated to the group, summing up their conclusions from this battle.

Everyone slowly nodded at the words of Hawkgirl and the sense her words made.

"We will keep Broly at the watchtower till I open up a place for us on land. We don't want his mental block to go out up on the watchtower like it almost did. I will be choosing a base for our land operations and for PR. Honestly I had been thinking on this for a long time but since I hadn't finished the base I didn't see any reason to bring it up till now." Batman stated to the group.

"Yeah we need a physical location so that we can be seen by the populous working together. It will have to be a large place if we want a real base and somewhere we can train and contain Broly should he go out of control. Will your base be large enough?" Superman said.

Batman smirked at that and asked, "Would a mountain be big enough?" Everyone smirked at Batman exasperatedly. "The base is designated as Bravo, but I thought of a more functional base name."

"What is it? Don't keep us in suspense." The Flash said.

"Mount Justice." Batman said.

"Hmm, good name." Green Lantern said.

"So how are we going to do this? If there is a mission that needs all of us what are we going to do with Broly? We can't exactly bring him with us. Even with more people there is no saying that all of us plus the new guys won't be needed for a battle." Wonder Woman said.

"If I am not wrong then Broly probably already has extreme durability. Even from all of our attacks we didn't cause him to bleed at all." Batman stated to the group. They were all shocked to see that Batman was right. "Even if we had not been going after him seriously there should still have been some kind of damage present but he seems to be fine. If he is not even better than he was before." Again everyone was shocked speechless at the statement they just heard.

"Super charged regeneration from the werewolf and the energy absorption from the Ivo cells. Dear Gods. Broly truly is a monster. If we don't care for him properly then it is likely that he will become our greatest enemy. But how do we get him to deal with the rage? If he grows up with it present then he will be a threat to everything and everyone. What can we do to help calm his mind?" Wonder Woman asked.

"I can help with the rage some. It can only be handled in small increments due to the pain he went through. But from the glimpse I saw into Broly's mind it is… scarily regimented within his mindscape." Manhunter said.

"What do you mean regimented?" Batman asks.

"When I was within his mind everything was overflowing with his rage so I could not make many things out clearly. But from the structure it…it was shaped in the form of an extremely detailed assembly warehouse with a suit of high tech armor standing on a rack. Within the mindscape there were two words written out on two huge computer screens with a hologram of a person nearby opposite the armor. With three weird designs off to the side down at the end of what looked like a shooting range. One was an intricate 'alien' design and the other was a bug like creature filled like a ballon with a sickly green liquid followed by an even more high tech floating orb." Manhunter tried to explain what he saw.

"A suit of high tech armor? Do you know the type or the kind of design?" Batman asked extremely intrigued.

"There was a monster other than the Great Ape in his mind?" Hawkgirl asked as she had come across a document from her home world. It stated in one of the distant worlds they were looking into conquering at the edge of the galaxy had an alien insect, similar to what was described by J'onn, was seen.

"What do the words say? A gun range?" Green Lantern asked remembering his time in the military.

"There is a floating hologram?" The Flash asks as he had already come across something similar with his own team.

"How about find out at the watchtower so that we can be ready for any other emergencies." Superman stated to the group.

Everyone agreed and Batman pushed his controller for the Teleportation pad.
